  1. A few overreactions on here. We created LOTS of chances. On another day we could have won 4-0 easily. Both Wolves goals were pretty lucky (even though tbf they created a couple of other chances as well). We already knew we needed a decent striker in there. Tbf to MON, when the crowd is chanting for the Fonz, what's he supposed to do? Go "Oh, okay, then, you folks know best"? I don't really blame him for reacting the way he did. Downing's only crimes were being a little anonymous, and missing a chance that was not all that easy. His corners and most of his crosses are brilliant. Heskey didn't do much, apart from play a major part in the second goal. Cuellar did get done several times for pace, but people saying he didn't do any overlapping just weren't paying attention. For once he did better than Warnock in that regard. Albrighton did nothing wrong apart from one poor attempt at a cross. Ashley Young was generally brilliant, but a couple of VERY poor dead ball deliveries. He should not take free kicks, imo. Downing for me.
  2. 4th for me as well. Would LOVE to win the FA cup, though. It's about time we did, too.
  3. I don't understand how some people can't see what a class player Downing is. Ok, he gives the ball away occasionally, but he is a brilliant crosser, pacy, good vision, and generally excellent on the ball. There is no way he should lose his place, except maybe to give Albrighton a few minutes at the end. Voted for Collins MOTM, just because he was brilliant and Milner will get quite enough votes
  4. That is a lovely sentence. Well done He's got 90 minutes to save his job
  5. Why? Has he shaved his eyebrows off? If nobody's going to comment on my comic genius, I'll just have to re-post it, eh?
  6. Why? Has he shaved his eyebrows off?
  7. Here's how I read it: < 40% - I am a bluenose 40 - 50% - I am not a bluenose, but I do have a very low IQ 50 - 60% - I'm a Villa fan, but I don't understand football management very well 60 - 70% - I'm a Villa fan, but I tend to be lead astray by some of the sillier VT posts 70 - 80% - I like MON, but don't understand him 80 - 90% - I really like MON, but am baffled by him at times 90 - 100% - I have a tendency towards hero worship
  8. Welcome to the Colonial Villans club mate. Only been to VP once myself
  9. Why the goggle eyes? Best news I've heard all year, and I'm no Heskey hater, either.
  10. If he does, we play Collins and Cuellar in CM. No problemo, man. For the people having a go at: Downing: He was ok today. Truly shit free kick, but otherwise ok. He is an excellent player who can pick a pass, has pace, and adds creativity. He has improved our team big style. Petrov: He is nursing an Achilles tendon. Not his best game, but he has been very good this season. Cut him a bit of slack for his injury please. Carew: Mmmm, fair enough, he hasn't played well for a long time. When was the last goal we scored from a free kick or corner? Those two free kicks of ours today were embarrassing.
  11. Totally agree. Hmm, although you could just about say that of Richard Dunne as well
  12. just your OPINION, nothing to sugges that nothing. just saying it for the sake of saying something. theres nothing to suggest this AT all. and you know it. Yes, you're right. That is just my opinion. This IS a thread for stating opinions, isn't it? avfc1982 pretty much said what I think in his post above, only better than I said it:
  13. Laursen. Dunn is fantastic, but for me Laursen had something very special, and in the end Aston Villa became HIS club. As good as Dunn is, he's still getting used to the idea of being a Villa player.
  14. I am a double post. Move along now, nothing to see.
  15. Yes please, MON. Please please please please pleeeeeeeeeeease.
  16. I don't know. Every time this poll comes around we have people saying this sort of thing. What is it that makes people say this stuff? 1)Do you think there's some genius football manager other than MON who's waiting in the wings to replace him? Or 2)Do you think that as a club we are never going to do better than 6th? If it's (1), who exactly do you have in mind??????????? If it's (2), I wonder why you bother being a Villa fan, or even follow football at all. Surely the point of being a fan of a football club is hoping and believing that your club will achieve success? I just don't believe he has the ability to attract top class players, nor does he have the tactical skills required to change a game. MO'N has been backed fantastically by RL, no manager in Villa's history has had that luxury, except MO'N. Saying that, MO'N has done a lot of good things for us since he took over and I appreciate him for that. Do I think there's someone better than MO'N? Yes, I say Moyes and Jol are better. And we could attract them to the club IMO. I will support MO'N to the end of his tenure. I like the guy, but I want this club back at the top, where it should be. Ok: - The ability to attract top class players is hardly down to the manager. How much money the club pays, how big the club is, and whether there's Champion's League football on offer will make up 99.9% of the decision for a player. - Having the tactical skills to change a game is mostly about having enough quality players to change a game. MON is collecting quality players all the time, if you hadn't noticed! Obviously none of us are wowed by MON's substitution and squad rotation policies, but just because we don't agree with decisions doesn't mean they are wrong. - I don't know how you can be so sure that Moyes and Jol are better. Jol had a LOT of money to spend at Tottenham, and Moyes has been at Everton for a long time, and arguably had mixed success.

  18. I hope you mean "Young in at the expense of Collins" or something that sounds a bit more RESPECTFUL Collins was brilliant before he got injured, brilliant.
  19. Nearly all of us agree that we could use reliable striker. If the question is: "Can we afford to buy a reliable striker from any of our rivals?" Then I think the answer is a clear no. But if we're clever about it, there should be no reason why we can't FIND one. Thierry Henry, Didier Drogba, etc. all came from somewhere (I think!).
