  1. If he doesn't leave he looks set to be this years Gil from a fans point of view.
  2. I hope I'm wrong but have a feeling we might be closer to a Fraizer Campbell or Dwight Gayle level of striker than a Hernandez. It would be a real shame to have revamped the squad to its current level only to be struggling for goals again all season.
  3. Seriously?! I'd sooner fly to the other side of the world to avoid watching SHA. Awful club, even worse fans. Hope they get the policing right for this one!
  4. Doubt we'll get Rolan for €18m, Newcastle supposedly had a bit of £13m rejected. Would probably take €20m but for that we'd get the player Gabby thinks he is. Quick, tricky, passes well and can finish. Only 22 as well. If it was a choice between taking a risk on Austin's knee or Rolan's inexperience I know which I'd prefer. The sort of player who could excel with Sherwoods guidance. Would need a work permit and he probably doesn't speak much English though.
  5. Total competitive minutes in 2015 = 250mins and 1 goal. Jan 17th - 60mins vs Sunderland March 15th- 10mins vs Man Utd May 3rd- 5mins vs Man City Jan 21st 65mins League Cup vs Sheffield Utd Jan 24th - 20mins FA Cup vs Leicester June 16th- 90mins Togo vs Liberia (1 goal) Had no pre season with Spurs and joined up late with Togo after a falling out with the manager. I dread to think what shape he is in and seriously doubt we will see much of a contribution this side of Christmas.
  6. I hope he continues to do well pre season. If anybody deserved a bit of good fortune and a run of games its Libor. I can see him playing more of a role coming off the bench but it would be fantastic if he grabs a few goals and turns out to be like a new signing for us.
  7. I suppose a bigger question is what shape is he likely to be in- mentally and physically. If I understand correctly he was released on compassionate grounds by Spurs before the end of the season and doesn't looks like he's played any football for a while. (Apologies if already mentioned, not read the whole thread). This guy will either be a hit or do an Anelka on us. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/tottenham-hotspur/11620238/Emmanuel-Adebayor-released-on-compassionate-leave-by-Spurs-following-series-of-worrying-Facebook-posts.html
  8. No issue with him coming here as long as- 1. we sign another striker - Austin would be my choice 2. wages are capped at £40k a week with additional bonuses for goals and/or a loan deal with an option to buy If this is the Benteke replacement I think most of us would be terrified about next season before we've even kicked a ball. Adebayor has a lot to prove and nobody knows if he has the hunger for it anymore.
  9. Pretty low blow to try and drop Micah in it now he's left. I have no doubt Micah would be complimentary about his ex-employers, that's the correct attitude of a professional. I think most Villa fans are wise enough to see behind this nonsense, can't believe a word Delph says now and it suits him quite nicely to deflect attention back on one of our players by making more out of the conversation than there probably was. Bore off Fibian, we know what you are.
  10. I can understand the Adebayor links but for me he'd have to be 1 of 2 strikers brought in to replace Benteke. I'd like to see us drop £15-20m down for somebody with more youth on their side. I suppose one thing now looking more certain is that Guzan will remain our no.1, I don't see there being the time or money to bring another keeper in.
  11. Delph, you're an idiot. Albeit a very rich one. Clearly can't see that Citeh only want you because you help them out by being home grown. Linked with James Mcarthy when they thought they couldn't get you!! Haha, enjoy going from club captain and England regular to bench warming has-been.
  12. "Aguero was set to sign for Villa but failed the medical due to his dodgy knees"
  13. Hopefully the club will release a statement stating this is utter crap and that we won't stand for unjustified rumours intending to unsettle our staff or players. There appears to be no evidence to suggest Delph is going anywhere!
  14. That photo could have been anywhere at any time. What exactly is it supposed to prove? Kids bored in school hols already starting Twitter rumours? It can't be true, he'd be the biggest scumbag ever...
  15. No idea why he'd be so keen to join Liverpool. The fans clearly don't want him there and they've got more strikers than they know what to do with. I hope for his sake that Roma or Utd now play their hand. I'm resigned to him leaving but would nice for the move to be a step up!
  16. Don't want Rickie Lambert anywhere near our club and I trust that Sherwood would feel the same way.
  17. Here comes the true test of his loyalty. Man City buy him for a cut down £10m giving the option of doubling (at least) his wages. Does he take the money to keep their bench warm, or stay as our captain, play every week and cement the England starting place that is beginning to look likely for Euro 2016??? Interesting few weeks coming up I think...
  18. It's ok, Raheem is back on the hippy crack and all over the front pages.
  19. He's currently on holiday and will officially sign next week.
  20. Good signing (if true!) and happy to give him a chance at VP. I think it would be fair to disregard his time at Fiorentina, that kind of move is not going to suit a lot of English players. If he can get himself fit over the summer and a decent pre season I think he'd be a positive addition to the team.
  21. 1. Guzan - SELL (if it equates to an upgrade, otherwise keep and play him) 2. Baker - KEEP (squad) 4. Vlaar - KEEP (new 2 year deal, can't see us buying a better replacement) 5. Okore - KEEP (starter) 6. Clark - KEEP (starter) 7. Bacuna - KEEP (squad - midfielder) 8. Cleverley (LOAN) - KEEP if possible 9. Sinclair - KEEP (starter if we play 4-4-2) 10. Weimann - SELL 11. Agbonlahor - SELL (if anyone is stupid enough to bid for him, otherwise impact sub only). 12. Cole - RELEASE 13. Steer - KEEP (squad) 14. Senderos - RELEASE 15. Westwood - KEEP (starter) 16. Delph - KEEP (starter) 18. Richardson - KEEP (squad) 20. Benteke - KEEP (if possible!) 21. Hutton - SELL 22. Gardner - KEEP (Squad) 23. Cissokho - SELL 24. Sanchez - KEEP (squad) 25. Gil - KEEP (squad) 27. Kozak - KEEP (squad) 28. N'Zogbia - KEEP (squad, do not offer new contract) 29. Hepburn-Murphy - LOAN 31. Given - KEEP (until retirement, then coaching staff) 34. Lowton - SELL 39. Calder - LOAN 40. Grealish - KEEP (starter) My shopping list- GK (must be an upgrade to Guzan or don't bother), experienced LB, experienced RB, quality striker and another midfielder if we don't get Cleverley.
  22. I'd rather see Adebayor in a Villa shirt than Berbatov, he's well past his prime and just looking for another paycheck. At least Adebayor has a point to prove and there's a good chance Tim can motivate him. Neither of these would be a first choice though imo. We should be going after Austin, even if there's a chance Benteke might stay.
  23. In the absence of takeover news, some confirmation of a beefed up role for Tom Fox and/or some reassurance we have funds available for transfers would be the minimum I'd expect tbh.
  24. I was desperately hoping for a 9am press release from the club with some news for us on this. Please don't let this drag on and on, we deserve better...
