    I agree there is definitely some issue. But whatever it is I do think Southgate seems to be getting over it. If he was as stubborn as many make out there is no chance he would have got 80 minutes and started ahead of Mount regardless of injuries and media pressure.

    Yeah it’s pretty silly but maybe he knows Jack is the really deal and full of confidence whereas Mount needs a bit more praise? Still think we over analyse everything that’s said. Also as I’ve said many times I hope you are all right about this agenda he has so it means he misses out on the next two games.

    Spot on. He is actually protecting Jack more than anything. But watch Villa fans commenting on how he is too stubborn to admit he is good as Gazza was or something ridiculous like that.

    He was asked about Jack and he responded about both Mount and Jack. I’m guessing he probably did that so the whole press conference didn’t become about him and Jack. This time around he played him for 80 minutes and has nothing but praise afterwards. I think it’s time to get over this Southgate hatred.

    A lot of those challenges are genuine attempts to win the ball though. He’s enticing a player to commit before he eventually passes it. It’s good play but at what cost?

    At the moment they are showing every game because we can’t attend games. But in a normal situation they would show less games but you’d pay the same monthly fee. Only way to watch your team if they were not on tv was to attend the game or find an illegal stream. Now they have made it available for you to pay to watch the game. Is this option going to remain available once crowds are allowed back in? If so I have no problem with it. If not then yes, it’s a piss take.

    I want him to release it that split second earlier so it doesn’t encourage the opponent to dive in and leave one on him. Yes it wins freekicks and gets players booked. But those knocks are going to take their toll.

    Ok just read what Southgate said. He called him a matador! What more do fans want ? I also agree with it being worrying how he draws fouls in by holding the ball a split second longer then needs to. As Villa fans we all shit ourselves whenever he gets clobbered. Sounds like the England manager gets worried too.

    Who said he doesn’t pass the ball quick enough? I heard it in commentary but on that particular moment it was correct because he had a runner and didn’t release it. Jack is being spoken about a lot and he doesn’t play the perfect game. If every pundit just had a wank fest it would be a bit boring wouldn't it? Releasing the ball sooner is an area of his games he has massively improved upon. The fact some so called pundits are looking at areas he could improve is a compliment if anything. They are acknowledging how good this player is and can be. Any other England player getting spoken about as much?

    To be fair at Villa our whole team revolves around him. As soon as someone gets the ball they look for Jack. Even Mings did it when he came on. That’s probably something Southgate wants to avoid.

    I’m not saying there wasn’t something up. My comment was more around how personally fans are taking it. To be fair maybe I’m being a bit selfish in the fact I couldn’t care less about England. I just want him fit and doing the business for Villa.

    I think people are getting a bit carried away with the Southgate hates Grealish stuff. Yes he had a problem with him and should have called him sooner. But he has been called up and played the last 80 minutes or so. You’re all acting like the school PE teacher isn’t picking your kid for the school football team.

    Jota didn’t get in to the team. They have better players. If we finish above Wolves it should mean we’ve had a great season. Agree with rest of your post.
