  1. We have more "experience" in our squad than just about any other team in the Championship. We're basically the league's "retirement home", where players at the end of their careers come to die. I'm not happy with Fer, because IMO he had one good season for QPR 5 years ago, which earned him a Holland cap, but then has steadily declined in form over the years since. He hasn't been exactly lighting up the Championship this season, and there is a reason why Premier League clubs aren't battling us for his signature. I think we can do a lot better for the wages, but I'll still support him if he arrives, as I do all Villa players. To me, this is the most underwhelming signing we've made since Elmo.
  2. ...and we desperately need to sign someone who turns 30 in a few months... What happened to the new policy of young players with development potential and sell-on value? hahaha Anyway, I don't get the excitement with Fer. He's been over-hyped his entire career.
  3. Which is probably the reason why this deal has dragged on all week...
  4. I'm happy with the Mings loan. He was one of the highest rated up and coming talents in the Championship before he went to Bournemouth. He was a monster for Ipswich at LB for a while there. Fast, physically strong, and good with the ball at his feet for such a big guy. On a completely unrelated note, it seems like I've signed him many times over the years in Football Manager for very cheap and he's been a very solid left back for me, so I have a soft spot in my heart for the guy.
  5. That's not how it works... You aren't phoning up a kabob joint and ordering dinner... This is a better analogy for the leaky roof scenario... Your roof is leaking, but to fix it immediately will cost you 5 times as much as it will to fix in the summer by a contractor you know will do a good job and is willing to do the work for you. You are already low on money this month, so, you have a few options... Wait until this summer to try to find someone reliable to fix the roof for a reasonable price, pay a lot of money now to get it fixed and potentially have problems paying your bills this summer, or gamble on someone right now for a nominal fee to solve the problem or at least minimize the damage until it can be fully corrected in the summer. You open the Yellow Pages and start calling all the roofing contractors asking for quotes. The best contractors will laugh in your face or will politely give you a quote so high that nobody in their right mind will pay that to fix your roof or most likely, will tell you that they're full on business right now, but things may change close to the end of the month, and they'll let you know. After calling everyone, you have a couple of questionable contractors with mixed Google reviews willing to do the work for a reasonable price, or you can gamble on that drunk fellow you met at the pub who claims to know a guy who knows a guy who does roofing on the cheap... You decide to wait until the end of the month before making the final decision, when the more reliable options start giving you call backs. The January Window is 100% in the advantage of the selling clubs, not the buying ones.
  6. You all are some thirsty fookers, I'll tell you that much... She's my age and is an executive at the Greatest Football Club in the World... Ugh... What have I done with my life??? Anyway, she worked for Purslow at Chelsea and has a lot of experience in this area at both Chelsea and Manure. Ernst & Young & PwC are also huge companies in the accounting world and have the pick of the litter with top accounting graduates. She's clearly well thought of by Purslow from their previous roles, so I think she'll be a great addition to the front of house staff. Welcome!!!

    John Terry

So does every forward we play against...
  8. Where are the Hayden links coming from? I haven't seen anything in the media... Just Villa fans on Twitter and here...
  9. Agreed... I'm 100% for this loan. He's our 3rd choice striker and hasn't played much in the past 2 years. Needs to get games under his belt to see if he should be part of the rotation next season. If he can't break into the Sheffield United squad, he has no business being at Villa next season.
  10. Oh, calm down... It isn't even over with yet! We really are a miserable lot, aren't we? hahaha
  11. Sorry... Got that wrong. 73 League appearances and 97 overall caps for Luton. Even more insane.
  12. James Justin is 20 and already has 73 first team appearances for Luton. That's a ton of experience for such a young player.
  13. To be fair, we actually played some good football near the end of this first season and even destroyed Arsenal at the Emirates 3-1 in the opener of his 2nd season (Remember the Cult Hero Antonio Luna was for scoring in his debut?). Then, Benteke picked up an injury and was out for several weeks and Lambert adopted the "Defense First" mentality which got worse and worse as time went on.
  14. Or end up playing every game from the bench and start when someone is injured/suspended/rested... Having a reliable versatile defensive player would be a godsend in this squad. Someone like John O'Shea was for Manure...
  15. Hasn't played much in the past 4 seasons due to injuries. Could be a massive bargain or could be Richards 2.0, but without the massive wages. Will have to wait and see...
  16. Tyrone Mings is a left back. He played there exclusively for Ipswich before moving to Bournemouth. He's an absolute unit, though, and because of that has filled in at CB. I remember him marking Ibrahimovic a few years ago and the two of them kicking/elbowing the snot out of each other all game.
  17. Brentford fans say that Smith didn't rate Barbet and rarely played him. It's almost like Bruce being linked to signing Scott Hogan from us, it just ain't happening.
  18. As hilarious as this is, I still think he looks more like Christopher Lee's Dracula than Quagmire.
  19. Does the University of Leeds offer degrees in EFL FFP rules? Every other day it seems there is another random Leeds supporter on here trying to tell us just how fooked our finances are...
  20. Daily mail is saying Sheffield United and Bristol City are showing interest in Scott Hogan... Unfortunately, they're both interested in loan deals...
  21. Cahill and Austin seem like such lazy links... They go against everything that the powers at be at the club have been saying. There isn't any information leaking out of Villa Park, so the papers need to make garbage like this up.
  22. If he had any of those other attributes, he'd be at a top Premier League team already. His work ethic is World Class, which is why I have no doubt he'll get there eventually.
  23. A lot more effort shown by the players today. The midfield is actually tracking back and our fullbacks are charging forward on the overlap. Too bad a lot of them are still shit, but at least they're trying today.
  24. Nope... Not worried at all. This new regime at Villa Park play their cards close to the chest. We won't hear anything until a deal is close to completion.
