  1. Man Utd have panic bought a player that (whilst world class) isn't the solution to their problems. Unless you're saying you want us to do just that? Complete rubbish as usual. Man U are rebuilding and consequently need players. Are you going to aim that accusation at every signing they make especially as you say, world class signings. The answer to your second question was already stated in my post (which i've highlighted) but anything to have a dig eh. Man Utd need a central midfielder (maybe even 2) that are going to compete in the middle of the park so teams stop overrunning them - as well as probably another strong centre back to take the pressure off Ferdinand (lost it) and Vidic (losing it). Tom Cleverley, Darren Fletcher (having had his medical concerns) and Phil Jones are not the answer to the midfield problem. Juan Mata, on the other hand, is a fantastic player when he plays in that "number 10" position - just behind the striker. A position that is currently occupied by Wayne Rooney with Shinji Kagawa as backup. Now, either Rooney or Mata are going to be played out of position (once RvP is back) and, in my opinion, that simply isn't how you handle players that really are "that good". Juan Mata is, thus, a world class signing but one that Man Utd do not need to resolve their issues. It's much like us looking for yet another forward now instead of going for a creative midfielder. But yes, "complete rubbish" of course Who are these players that we should've brought in on loan by the way? Do you have some sort of in depth knowledge of available players given "the right level of finance"? Genuinely curious.
  2. I don't think there's many who would be against that but if you think that's all anyone who criticises Lerner wants then you don't read posts very well. As an aside, by the way, I would absolutely be against this. It's always nice to have money spent on improving a squad, but I'd honestly hate to be Man City or Chelsea. Sounds weird, doesn't it? However, I really like the local things that the club still has. For example, I enjoy having kevan on here and reading about Jack Grealish's plights in the early days as a footballer. The fact that we promote players from within our own academy to play for the club. That we've not just had the soul of our club completely taken away. It's "bad enough" that we have a foreign owner, but I'd probably lose most of my interest in Villa if we became an oil club. Chelsea currently play 1 player that has come through their academy, and he was taken from West Ham as a youngster. No thanks.
  3. Right now I want him to be ambitious for the future, that will involve spending more money but its not just a case of wanting him to be stupidly rich or bankrupting himself. He's made awful decisions in the past so it would also be nice if he could cut them out as well. He's failed at the browns and us so overall I'd like him to be better at his job. So... you want him to spend more money . I don't really see how he's failed us to be honest. Our training facilities have improved (ambitious for the future!) and we've become self-sufficient (good for the future!). We're essentially no worse or better off in the league than we have been for as long as I can remember (a couple of good seasons, a couple of poor seasons - essentially mid-table). So, I'll put it to you again, aside from just spending money - what do you want from him?
  4. Pretty sure Oviedo blocked a shot and consequently broke his leg rather than it happening through a challenge mate...
  5. So, aside from spending more money, what do you want of him?
  6. Stop talking sense suttonpaul. We need as many sticks as possible to bash Lambert/Lerner/the entire club with(!)
  7. "Extremely limited in the scouting department" - what a load of bollocks that statement is
  8. Solskjaer is like Lambert on speed - he's purely signing Norwegian or Man Utd players
  9. because of our performance in the transfer market.....but irrespective of the net worth of an owner, no right minded business man is going to subscribe to our record. Lerner can certainly be held accountable for hiring poor managers or not ensuring the clubs finances were in order from the off or even holding over ambitions of getting into the CL when this was unlikely giving the amount of money coming into the game. However, what he can't be accused of is our performance in the transfer market. He's not a "football man" (one of the most horribly overused phrases around at the moment) and would've trusted O'Neill when purchasing some of the expensive dross that he did. He provided the funds and provided the impetus for us to build on but the money was poorly spent and, after a couple of years of exciting football, we find ourselves here.
  10. If Lambert was given the kind of money O'Neill was, this thread wouldn't exist and we wouldn't be struggling in the same shape we are. I still enjoy that people basically want an oil merchant to come in and pump hundreds of millions into the club yet again. We've been there, it went wrong, we're now paying for it. Why the hell would you want to repeat this?

  12. Who are these people who have said we're spending significant amounts this month BJ?
  13. "Shit Jack Grealish, you're just a shit Jack Grealish - shit Jack Greeeeeaaaalish, you're just a shit Jack Grealish... SHIT JACK" etc.
  14. These "best of" threads are getting quite teadious to be honest.
  15. Demichelis for the Cardiff second was amazingly poor. How on earth he keeps Lescott out of the team...
  16. As an aside, by the way, all of this "bad blood" is a shame. I've always quite liked Norwich and they're not really an offensive club (unlike, for example, Sunderland and West Ham who I actively want to be relegated). I'm just hoping that the persuit of Wes is over if Norwich don't want to sell. There's only a week left and we really do need a creative midfielder so let's just look elsewhere and leave him with them.
  17. You're both wrong. That is why Lescott is on £100k+ a week at the wealthiest club in the league and why Clark is at Aston Villa. Are you psychic? ITK?
  18. I haven't said you're being unreasonable. It's whatever is in Norwich City's interest - I'm concerned about Aston Villa. I'm just quite surprised that they won't want to move a player on that; a) Doesn't play regularly b ) Wants to leave and c) Is 31 years old with not much time left on his contract If Norwich want to keep an unhappy player, by all means go for it guys.
  19. It's also mental to think that Joleon **** Lescott could be on 6 figures a week.
  20. I agree with a lot your post on principal, but Hoolahan has played 9 games this season - 4 of which have been substitute appearances. I don't know how this fits in with being a "first team player" but I'd assume you won't be getting a transfer fee for him after this window (31 year old, not playing regularly, lack of time on his contract). What are Norwich honestly holding out for? You'd almost be better selling him for £750k given the lack of impact he's having on your season.
  21. I have no problem with Norwich not wanting to sell to what they see as a direct rival. If they don't want to let go of a player who wants to go then that's their lookout. I couldn't give a monkeys what happens to them and am only concerned with Aston Villa. If they want to be difficult, we just look elsewhere.
  22. I wonder which striker we'll be signing from Wigan in January 2019?
  23. Loan Drennan to Carlisle, bring in Dongou to replace him... plan.
