  1. Even if Ireland told him to **** off, he shouldn't have dropped him. If its true, your comment of him not being dropped is as pathetic and ill timed as Ireland telling Mcliesh to **** off. And if it is true, I want him nowhere near the side again. We havent got time for arseholes. If it is true. We obviously do, we employed one as manager ireland despite last season being a bell end, has gone up rapidly in my estimations. even if the rumour is untrue
  2. who picks them? and today yet again the best defender by a country mile and fast becoming my second favourite villa player in the squad, king carlos. in the first half we were in the game, ireland pinging the ball quickly , nozog not doing too much but still causing them more than enough concern but the ball was more or less on the floor then in the 65th minute, operation hoofball was deployed, huge gaping hole in the middle of the park forms due to the new tactics being employed with the substitution of nzog and then we become shit i hope ireland was not injured although odd as it sounds i hope he was? because if he is injured then we will go back to shit hoof ball, if he wasnt injured then it goes down as another shit substitution the man needs to leave at the end of the season, he wont go before then but there is nothing here for him. i would guess most fans dont want him here, it seems the players dont like the style of football they are having to play and the whole place needs some uplifting. unless carlos is offered a new contract and we get rid of hutton, collins and warnock and get 3 new players in, stop playing clark in the middle when we have players for midfield such as gardener, and tell barry bannan to stop trying to play a bloody hollywood pass each and every bloody time he has the ball, then we may actuall improve. i dont hold out much hope under the G C
  3. thats a good shout, curtis davies ( and i wlways said it when we were linked to him, i could never understand why he was so rated having seen him play for the boggies
  4. well they were for us but some of them just didnt work out and went on to be ace for other clubs milosovic, typically, we sell for £1.5 million or what ever, goes to italy and then gets a £15 million transfer a short time later ivo stas, well he was great against us and was a captain, getting injured and never playing for us is hardly a bad signing, just a very unlucky player. it would be the likes of cascarino for me as one of the worst signings, ruined our momentum as we changed the team to accomadate that donkey when we were pushing for the title collymore, while looking like a dream move, messed up the club also, i like him for all his stupidness, he still bangs on about the villa and makes no excuses for being an out and out villa fan on talk shite every time he is on balaban i wanted to be good, but after he missed a sitter against man utd and we went on to lose or draw from a winning position he just got worse and that was his debut i think ( not checked and am getting old so memory is not great) selling david james and getting schmeichel for just 1 year was for me terrible james had another 5 or 6 years left in him at the top beye was a horrid signing though, the only good thing about him was his happy days song, and for all its amusement, it was probably not worth the 30 or 40k per week plus transfer fee.
  5. so i say its not macron or villa related 2 or 3 times yet oddly you seem to think it must mean its villa macron and future transfer related? oh my goodness, it amazes me just quite how much some people try and twist or deliberately misread even the simplest things. oh dear. odd again i also explain where i heard le tiss comments but again you pretend something else was said? claim i have disproved myself? dispite actually showing you your quote is not the only version which has been told and also include where i heard the comments, which agaoin you misread as to do with fashion when it was rather clear it was about the tight fit and le tiss not wanting to wear something which would make him look fat but never mind it is almost like you cant actually read ? maybe you have some cryptic way you have to read into every post and then reword it to your suiting?
  6. you seriously think that companies dont care if their brand is positioned next to a world brand leader or not? seriously? you also think fans wont give a toss what merchendise it being put out and will buy it no matter what? seriously? our association with nike has done nothing for us? seriously? so merchandise sales are all up comapired to other manufacturers we have used, people buy more villa stuff ( until this season), we have kit launch which is also done in nike stores throughout the world, we were featured in adverts with the worlds top players you seriously think it has had a negative impact on the financial side of aston villa and think it has not increased the brand awareness of the club? you think that companies wont want their logo next to nikes logo unless there is a synergy? how about being placed next to the worlds largest sports merchandise manufacturer, the brand leader, worlds number 1. you think companies dont take that into consideration? and you say IF the macron deal pays more? tell me, how will it generate more money both short and long term for aston villa?
  7. That's the biggest load of tosh I've ever seen. Here's a quote from the man himself: http://www.orange.co.uk/sport/football/22711.htm odd because i can quote stuff too, and look, it makes no mention of the claim in your post http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11668_2235977,00.html "I nearly signed for Spurs in 1990 but changed my mind at the last minute when Terry Venables was manager," he told The Daily Echo. "That was the closest I ever came to leaving. It got close, very, very close, to the point where we had agreed on wages. "But, in the end, Southampton gave me a new contract and offered me just as much as Tottenham had. "It probably was the hardest decision I had to make because of my loyalty as a Spurs fan but by this time I had settled in this area and loved the club and the people down here. That was enough to keep me here. "I don't regret a thing. I've made all the decisions and I've stuck by them." the comment about the shirt , his weight and the skin tight kit spurz had at the time was one i heard from his very lips on one of the sky sports football shows, whether he was joking or not i dont know but he said it as i say though it is not villa or macron related.
  8. Swansea is ahead of us in every aspect on the pitch and i'm not even joking.. to be fair i would have been spitting chips and i guess so would loads of others if rogers had been appointed. i know some were championing the likes of poyet or lambert but again, at the time the favourite was mr average, mark hughes. it is easy to look at some of the managers now half way through the season and say we should have appointed them. mind you the one 90% of fans knew not to appoint ... we did. doh! there were several top managers available in the summer , we didnt get one of them, or an up and coming young talent, we asked about the wigan manager, got told he would not be leaving and then imploded.
  9. well lets look at distribution, who has the biggest distribution network? who is the largest sports merchendise company in the world? which sports merchendise company has the best sales in the world? are any of the answers nike? are any of those answers macron? if you have any facts and figures which disagree with my thoughts that going with a company which is most likely outsold by style by jeremy kyle..lonsdale, will generate more income, or will out sell nike, or the extra clothing range will outsell nikes? please let me know. i am going on common sense, the worlds biggest sports brand who can launch a product in all the major cities across the world and have aston villa shirts on the wall in new york, tokyo, sydney and other rather big places, is clearly going shift more merchendise than a company whose biggest orders in this country are from none league clubs and only other large club is one in the same country they Are from. Ok, and how much good has any of that actually done us ? For all the marketing power, and brand recognition, have Nike kits significantly outsold the kits of Hummel or Diadora ? I would guess not. Do we know the value of the current Nike deal ? I expect financially the Macron deal is better, and let's say it's better by £1M a season, you would need to sell a lot of shirts in Tokyo, Hong Kong, New York etc to make up for tat. I'm not excited by Macron, but what I will say is this, two years ago I did not see any teams in Macron kits, suddenly I see a lot of teams In them, and clearly they are delighted to have Aston Villa for next season, as they've put us first on their list of English clubs. The Nike deal was never going to be lucrative, as far as I'm aware Bob Kain called in a favour to even get them interested, with Macron its likely we will be a priority, and that must be a good thing. If we had to go for a smaller brand, I'd have preferred us to have had a kit by Lotto, but I'm certain the club have goe with who they felt was best (in all aspects). i think your missing the point. if you are a company wanting to sponsor aston villa and know nike are the brand next to your name, you are going to have the worlds best,on a logo, next to your brand. you attract maximum revenue through sponsorship and that is just on the shirt. you have some small time manufacturers with no track record of success and no involvement with success and not a top brand, as an advertiser are you going to pay the same amount of money to have your brand next to macron? i would guess not. nike easily made the best aston villa 'casual' range, tops i normally wouldnt be seen dead in, but the nike designs were simple classic designs with a small villa branding on most, so the mrs wouldnt complain if i was out in one while we went shopping or moan our son was wearing football stuff all the time. so aston villa the brand was being promoted on smart casual polo shirts and the like. other kids see the top and then see a footy team on there and want one. i had 6 or 7 kids at my sons party the other year asking where i got the tops from because they all wanted one. well potentially that is 6 or 7 new fans from the devon area. so it is not as black and white as shirt - £25 profit it is the bigger picture that needs to be appreciated, the vaule of the club name, the extra revenue it will lose by changing shirts. im suprised people think macron will give a flying **** about aston villa and treat them as though they are the lord and master, they will see it as an average premier league club cutting costs and going for their cheap ass shirts. when merchendise is significantly lower than under nike, mecron will treat us as Nike have, not as a priority. under the worlds biggest and best sports brand name we were small fry reaping the benefits of the association with NIke there are no benefits of being associated with macron. if we were rolling in money then i wouldnt care less as funds would not be an issue, however it has been mentioned several times by the club that funds ARE an issue. so why do something which clearly will reduce our funds significantly, with merchendise ( which i believe is not a huge part of it) or most importantly potential for advertising and club associations with successful business. nothing villa related and **** all to do with macron and so on but mat letissier who was one of the best forwards not to play for a big club, turned down a move to spurzz due to the clingy material as it would make him look as fat as he was. he wanted to move but all down to the kit they had, wouldnt move there. as i say nothing villa or macron related but it is kit related.
  10. im just guessing, i remember my wolves supporting mate telling me years ago it is what wolves did, they manufactured or sold the shirts only through wolves. while that may work for a team who have limited appeal outside of wolverhampton, a global brand such as aston villa i would bet would not work. to me it does not make any financial sense, forget football and just think finances, what possible benefits could come from doing this? im obviously missing something but my uninformed opinion is it will cost this club several million pounds each and every year. it is easy taking a step or 5 downwards, attracting the worlds biggest companies takes alot more work. i doubt we will be able to attract such a manufacturer again they way things are looking. almost like randy has given up completely on the club and doesnt care what the image of the club is. as i said, i could be completey wrong and they could be paying us £15 million per season, i very very much doubt it is more than £2 million though.
  11. Oh the irony. yes it would be , however using a mobile telephone and being a man who doesnt have fingers like a small child, typos can happen. if i could be bothered hunting through every one of your posts im sure there would be some in there, then if i could be bothered i could quote what you have put and put your mistakes in, but i have more of a life than that. im glad such an irelevant spelling mistake amused you quite so much, life really must be dull eh?
  12. well lets look at distribution, who has the biggest distribution network? who is the largest sports merchendise company in the world? which sports merchendise company has the best sales in the world? are any of the answers nike? are any of those answers macron? if you have any facts and figures which disagree with my thoughts that going with a company which is most likely outsold by style by jeremy kyle..lonsdale, will generate more income, or will out sell nike, or the extra clothing range will outsell nikes? please let me know. i am going on common sense, the worlds biggest sports brand who can launch a product in all the major cities across the world and have aston villa shirts on the wall in new york, tokyo, sydney and other rather big places, is clearly going shift more merchendise than a company whose biggest orders in this country are from none league clubs and only other large club is one in the same country they are from. so nike messed around with the shirts 2 years running or delayed them ( rumours about randy wanting to add bits at the last minute have been posted although i myself doubt it), late deal for sponsorship is the most likely reason why shirts were delayed. i would rather have a delay in the shirt by 2 months and keep the aston villa brand strong and in the shops rather than go with macron where i will hazard a guess that 70% of shirt sales will have to be done with aston villa online or in the club shops. so limited at best high street presence. i could be wrong, and macron suddenly outsell nike, all the world champions ascociated with nike and paid loads of money from nike all having a mass exedus and moving for free to super brand macron as they all believe it is where its at. or realistically, it looks like going back to the worst parts of the ellis era, where most of the companies who sponsor us go bust, not paying us the full amount for being on our shirts because we cant attract decent sponsors as their brand name will have to sit next to the name macron?
  13. if it were purely bout a kit and how it looks you are right it isnt though is it nowdays it is about branding, marketing aston villa as a business to generate as much income as possible, especially as it seems money wont be flowing quite as it would so maximising revenue should be a priority so with that in mind as it is the biggest reason for changing kits for the majority of all professional teams will macron pay us more than nike ? what about brand awareness? distribution? outlets? marketting? advertising? and all of the above is not just for o=in the birmingham area but world wide, the premier league is the most watched league in the world. so global branding where is macro the biggest manufacturer of top league football? so nike wins on every single level but what about public perception? well who has heard of nike and who had heard of macron before this kit thing? what none replica shirt items have you bought which are aston villa branding made by nike? is it more than you bought under hummel? for me my family have bought lots of aston villa nike products, we bought a few reebok ones, wont be buying a macron anything im afraid. so, lets say macro pay us £15 million per season ( more likely £2 million per season how much extra do you think it wold generate through aston villa as a world wide brand? hmmm i bet nike would still at least come out even stevens if macro paid us £15 million more over the contract. so how then does it make any financial sense? because as a business this is what we should be most concerned with then we come to the shirts and the quality of them, again having seen 1 west ha,m shirt in the person i can honestly say the shiny thin clingy material feels poor, feels weak and doesnt even hang well on my mate who is in decent physical shape god knows what it would look like on a chubster, which to be fare, alot of fans are 'big boned' the decision seems to make no commercial sense, make no sense when it come to quality of product and only makes aston villa the brand look cheaper. something i thought randy had spent the last 5 years trying to build up? no sense what so ever. Where did you get your info from regarding the link between brand and merchandise turnover? His 8 year old son who has most intelliegence. brilliant, keep licking the bus window
  14. if it were purely bout a kit and how it looks you are right it isnt though is it nowdays it is about branding, marketing aston villa as a business to generate as much income as possible, especially as it seems money wont be flowing quite as it would so maximising revenue should be a priority so with that in mind as it is the biggest reason for changing kits for the majority of all professional teams will macron pay us more than nike ? what about brand awareness? distribution? outlets? marketting? advertising? and all of the above is not just for o=in the birmingham area but world wide, the premier league is the most watched league in the world. so global branding where is macro the biggest manufacturer of top league football? so nike wins on every single level but what about public perception? well who has heard of nike and who had heard of macron before this kit thing? what none replica shirt items have you bought which are aston villa branding made by nike? is it more than you bought under hummel? for me my family have bought lots of aston villa nike products, we bought a few reebok ones, wont be buying a macron anything im afraid. so, lets say macro pay us £15 million per season ( more likely £2 million per season how much extra do you think it wold generate through aston villa as a world wide brand? hmmm i bet nike would still at least come out even stevens if macro paid us £15 million more over the contract. so how then does it make any financial sense? because as a business this is what we should be most concerned with then we come to the shirts and the quality of them, again having seen 1 west ha,m shirt in the person i can honestly say the shiny thin clingy material feels poor, feels weak and doesnt even hang well on my mate who is in decent physical shape god knows what it would look like on a chubster, which to be fare, alot of fans are 'big boned' the decision seems to make no commercial sense, make no sense when it come to quality of product and only makes aston villa the brand look cheaper. something i thought randy had spent the last 5 years trying to build up? no sense what so ever.
  15. This one never fails to please, its basically saying if you dont agree with my opinion you know nothing about football. Why dont you repeat some of this fabulous football knowledge that you have acquired with regards to what you thought of Ireland and Keane. and if you put the quote with the rest of what was siad... oh wait you wont do that because your trying to delliberately take it out of context wow what sort of idiot would do tha... oh i see. taking snippets of a post and pretending they are something else is all you can come up with truelly pathetic, cant answer any basic questions and has to resort to trying to cut and paste bits of a post. my son who is 8 has more intelliegence when trying to put forward a reason for his thoughts then trying to lie. hahahahahahahhahahahahahhahahahahaha sums it up really
  16. oddly all those things seem to only be coming from supporters of G C. normal people with any interest in football , the order is probably more like 1. plays negative anti football 2. has a proven track record of failure 3. has had 8 months in charge at aston villa and has not improved either results or performances in that time barring the off hiccup. 4. shows no tactical or football sense and relies on a system which while successful in lower leagues and probably 30 years ago in the top flight, is shown to be unsuccessful in the sort and long term. 5. having such a negative effect on the club, fans are staying away due to all of the above which then also effects how much the club can earn but let the supporters of G C carry on with their magical myths as to why the majority of fans want him out.
  17. a good second half against one of the worst travelling teams inthe premier luage with a manager only in the job 2 weeks, having ad to make 5 changes to his starting line up, including having to play some players who only signed for the club 24 hours before and had done no training , no team talks nothing about tactics for the game which with most normal clubs takes place half way through the week or at least a few days before they play the opponents, which gives them time to practice against things such as super long throw ins, formations, tricky players and so on. we did batter them in the second half, but how many times did they try and get out of their half? probably only 5 or 6 times in the secnd half, that was not down to our play, that was down to them suddenly dropping far too deep and trying to play long ball tactics, odd the same sort of thing shich made us look so bad for the first 30 minutes. so around 35 minutes of decent football against a very very poor qpr, we get a draw. 1 point. so another game with no win. while the second half was nice to watch, i have a strange feeling we wont be seeing that sort of football again for a while, because i doubt we will play against a team so poor again. it was like villa v spurz apart from they actually got 2 goals before giving up. so while pleasing we came back to get 1 point, in the bigger picture, it really isnt worth getting too excited about when put in full context. it isnt as if in the second half we scored 10 goals is it? even i, someone who expects the worst under this current G C , was saying at 2-0 down that we should still easily win the game because i could see how shit qpr were. then at half time when we pulled 1 back i was saying the second half we should score 3 more as it was clear qpr were really going to be the worst team we played at villa park, for what ever reason. but we didnt so before people start creaming their pants that we managed to get point against the worst opponents i have seen us play in a very long time, lets see what happens over the next 5 games i know we have newcastle next , let me see who else we have.. in fact having seen who we have, lets call it 6 games as we have 1 we should not win man city, 1 we should battle for a draw with newcastle, same with fulham and then 3 wins, wigan, blackburn and bolton lets see what the football is like and what results we get, out of the 6 games there are at least 3 games we should win, you could argue 2 we should lose and in theory fulham should be a draw or win. but i have posted what i think we should be doing in the first scenario
  18. he needs to play far more like he did in the second half yesterday, so far he has not been good bar the odd promising cross or shot but last night for around 35 minutes he looked like he remembered he could pass the ball to other players and not just put his head down and run at a group of defenders and fall over while giving the ball away. im sure though he isnt used to the sheer amount of hoof his has had to put up with, wigan, for their shit defence, still know how to pass a football on the floor. no coincidence that bent, zog, ireland and keane ( admittedly against probably the worst performance from a team i have seen since we played spurz)looked far better when the ball was on the ground. bent scores, we put passes together. credit for that goes to cuellar for calmly playing it out from the back and encouraging the rest of the defence to pass it through the midfield. well done for last night zog, only another 10 more performcances like that this season and you may come good.
  19. good peformance against one of the worst away teams in the league, who were missing half their players, and out of the ones who played, i think 3 made their debuts with no playing or training with their team mates? some utter shocking defending, from both warnock and hutton, dunne also gets a mention for dancing like a mental bear in front of warnock for the second goal out of defence, cuellar clearly looked a class above the rest, really, head and bloody shoulders knees and toes above the other 3. midfield? why do we persist with clark in the middle when we are playing a poor team with no confidence and at their weakest? when we are at home? petrov, well he kept it ticking over when he moved away from our own keepers area so good on him but i fear if we hadnt been playing such a shit team ( they really REALLY were poor) he would have been torn apart, however i can only judge his performance on tonight so he ended up doing ok. ireland, he looked good today, although he was drifting at times and also had to be on guard when the liability that is hutton came forwards. tidy play and ran all game, looked like he gave up on some balls gabby would have still chased down but he doesnt have the excelleration of gabby so all is fogiven. nzogbia - hmm, he was quite poor, running at players and losing the ball, then he started remembering that he is allowed to pass it, then he looked half decent. scored a decent goal and looked reasonably dangerous for the remainder of the game clark - should not be playing in the middle unless man marking someone like rooney, i would play him instead of dunne or as 3 man defence but not at the expense of cuellar, his stats may look ok but that is because each time he was passed the ball he didnt bother to check if there was anyone near him, he just passed it back to whoever gave him the ball most of the time, slowing play down to a crawl, when we should have been upping the tempo. keane - i put him in midfield because thats where he played for most of the game, some neat passes between him and ireland and some decent possession rather than hoofing it, i thought my laptop video card was faulty when he was running for the ball though, he was that slow i had to check the settings on the pc. forwards - bent, some good movement and for once got some service and support from the midfield, the ball is played on the floor, out wide an decent ball into the box and bang, a goal. it is not a difficult puzzle , hoof ball doesnt work to get goals from bent, football with ball on floor and then hit it in from wide areas, that is what gets his goals. he did what some were demanding, he went for some 50 50 balls, and each time nearly got his head taken off and still couldnt get the ball, hopefully people will lay off him for not going in for balls all the time now as i thought in one of the challenges he got injured, lucky for us he didnt. bannan - if he cuts out his every ball is a hollywood ball thought process, he is a good tidy and clever player, but he always looks better when the ball is on the floor rather than when he lifts it up, it normally ends up going to no one. so while we had shit loads of shots on goal, could have had a peno, played half decent for most of the second half, we played against one of the worst sides away from home at their weakest. we should have beaten these lot by 2 clear goals, so while the football was good to watch from an attacking point of view for once, the result is as per normal, shit and not good enough
  20. now for 2 more, come on they are shit good finish by znog
  21. Didn't you see the gigantic irishman jumping like a clown in front of him and blocking his view? i have to agree, while warnock has played like a complete coq end, dunne jumping in front of him and then ducknig at the last second probably didnt help matters. but again, how can a cross come in so easily, no pressure, no player going towards the attacker, it really is basic shit.
  22. i would play 3 at the back, cuellar dunne clark, nzig and ughh hutton as wing backs take off warnock qpr are poor, this isnt even their first choice team we should be beating these easily. we should hit them for 4 more in the second half, but warnock needs to come off and hutton should not be the last man anywhere at the back. 4-4 2 is the way to go but not if you keep picking some of these players
  23. benty goal at the right end i notice we normally play better once the team talk has worn off, yet aagin the last 5 or 6 minutes we have played well. nice pass for once from hutton defensive so far only cuellar, the only none regular starter, the only one deffo off in the summer, is playing well
  24. i just need to check something, is clark still being played in the midfield instead of a midfielder? at home? against qpr? so petrov and clark? 2 defensive players? to me bent is isolated, if we have 2 defensive midfielders znog still playing like shit and keane coming into midfield looking for the ball things must be very wrong with the coaching and managing
  25. i still foolishly think if we can get a goal win can win, this is after all against qpr with reserve players we have sunk low but i dont think we have sunk low enough to get stuff by qpr at home, with half their team out, a new manager and 3 new players
