  1. Oh I agree and 100% hope they are right, which is infinitely more likely than me being right. At this stage though, in my opinion, with very little to go on, he feels like a punt.
  2. He may just raise his game with the pressure on. That seems to be the way for him at International level. He is the IC'c main man.
  3. Because.... He's Defoe in disguise
  4. Raw is often applied to age, but not exclusively and not how I meant it. In fact, not how I meant it at all because I was merely recalling something someone else had already said on here. As for why I mentioned it, we actually agree, he is a punt because you might hope someone of his age being brought into the Premier League was more of a finished product. We will see if his raw talent is enough.
  5. Raw as in unfinished, not age. And that's why he's a punt.
  6. Described earlier on here as a raw talent I think, so very definitely a punt.
  7. True. Although, I think his all round game improved the longer he played, so hopefully the same will be true for this new chap. Thinking back though, we were caught out quite a lot last year from headed goals at corners and free kicks. West Brom in the away leg being just one example.
  8. Heading is a pretty big part of any Centre Back's game, no?
  9. Agreed, although if the Konsa reports are accurate he was right about a medical this afternoon.
  10. Coulda told him going for the Big Smoke was a mistake.
  11. If Twatter is anything to go by, they do, yes. After all the crap they've been through down the years, they are more cynical than we are. And the cynicism gene is twitching hard right now in the immediate aftermath of finally getting a good manager, only just missing out, etc. Only logical that the Chairman would choose to throw it all away in the face of such progress, or so the narrative appears to run...
  12. Massive feel good factor among the fans, clear strategy moving forwards, club and squad united, players being bought as round pegs for round holes... Let's buy Delph.
  13. I guess you would have hinted already. He just has that presence, doesn't he?
  14. Also 'pay as you play' is THE ABSOLUTE OPPOSITE of young, hungry, with potential and (if necessary), resale value. He couldn't fit the mould any less than he does.
  15. Got any inside info on KP @TrentVilla?
  16. But are they paying fair market value for Dianne's tea trolley?
  17. Totally agree and feel sure, we must have another potent striking option on our shopping list. Personally, I'd like it to be Maupay, as I think he could either play with, or as an alternative to, any of the front three positions. If not him, then someone of his ilk.
  18. Out vile demon. What is this sorcery of which you speak? We are Aston Villa and we rely on Ian Ormondrod... only to fire us to glory.
  19. Like who? You have special insights, so I'm all ears
  20. Hard not to wonder if 'journalists' like Nixon have any concerns about lying or making stuff up. I mean, we all understand the pressure to produce what our paymasters want, in order to keep our jobs, but if doing so fundamentally undermines the nature of that job, then surely some self respect kicks in and you'd be having doubts about carrying on.
