    Was really pleased with the performance. Gabby really surprised me. Seemed really up for it. No way Guzan is getting dropped after that performance.

    Unbelievable to think that nobody from that team will be in the starting 11 this season. Only Dunne and Gabby left in the squad that started the game. Tell me another Premier league team that has had that sort of change of personnel.

    Now I don't want to spoil the mood but can anyone tell me what is so special about this guy? I'm sure he'll be a great signing but I'm sure at the start of the week he was getting slated by people that have seen him play?

    I really don't think that Lambert fancies any of our players! Most were highly thought of but haven't really stepped up. Plus with the fact they've played under so many different managers with different opinions while at the club I think that Lambert is finding it hard to get philosophy through.

    Is he even a target man? I don't really see what the fuss is about him. He doesn't exactly come with a excellent scoring record in a poor league. Also doesn't seem that highly rated by fans of his club. People comparing him to the likes of Cisse are mad. Cisse had an excellent scoring record in Germany

    Also with Johnson. He had offers from spurs and Liverpool apparently. He's gone to Sunderland to be closer to home. From what I've heard he wouldn't if met the criteria set by Lambert. He's a big time Charlie who gets on the piss far to much and even Mancini who must have the patience of a saint to persevere with balotelli couldn't control him.

    Can't believe people are still of the opinion that we aren't assigning players. No way would Lambert of come here if there was no money available. He was at a god like status at Norwich. He would of seen a villa side quite rightfully in the relegation mire. Needing a substantial investment and with overpaid has beens going through the . He quitequite rightly in my opinion is trying to get rid of the players he doesn't want before bringing in replacements. He has signed a few cheap players that were available. Probably players he was looking at signing when at Norwich.

    Spammers opinions say that we were ok for the first 20. Then pretty garbage all game. Hard to deny. The only positive to take from the game is probably the cheque book opens for sure.

    With the majority on here. Thought he did ok. Needs to improve going forward if we are continuing to play that narrow. Didn't help not having a proper LB to do some of the forward play on the other side. Although Baker was probably chosen because of the long ball system that fat sam plays.
