  1. Thanks Chris. I was initially planning to try and buy it all second-hand, sure I'll struggle along the way, but the learning curve will be part of the fun. I won't be buying a Crosley (although seeing them in the first place got me interested in vinyl), but I think it's wise if I start with a very low budget. I can then upgrade as I go on / as I learn more about the equipment etc. Glad I've now got a cheap turntable on the way, now to find an amp and speakers!
  2. Thanks very much for this. I have bought a second hand Sony turntable for very cheap today so I'm hoping that can act as a decent introduction. I'll see how I get on and will definitely consider the brands you suggested as a future upgrade. Funnily enough I almost bought one of those Crosley type brands a couple of months ago, but was lucky enough to read some comments about the damage they can cause! Can reasonable amps etc be had for good prices second hand? Thanks again,
  3. Cool thread! Can anyone recommend a good starting point for a turntable? Preferably around £100. Plenty of second hand ones on eBay but I've got no idea which brands are decent etc. Cheers.
  4. Good news - this game is being aired around the world, so should be easy to watch!
  5. We need someone with a better record IMO. https://www.whoscored.com/Players/35371/History/Hal-Robson-Kanu
  6. No need to be too over the top yet, but it's worrying. We'd only conceded two league goals before today.
  7. Got my season ticket this week. Does anyone know how to get the AVTV code?
  8. Graeme Bailey just tweeted: Aston Villa agree deal worth £14million for Ross McCormack - full story to follow...
  9. Reported in news as a done deal but still not confirmed by Villa. Should be confirmed tomorrow you'd think.
  10. While I think it's a bit of a coup for Villa, I'm not entirely sure it's the right choice. Could be a lot worse though.
  11. 'Moyes and Millions' can be the name of the book documenting our rise and return to Premier League stardom
  12. dont_do_it_doug makes a very good point I think people are so used to Villa making terrible football choices that everything is being scrutinised about this deal. So much so that Dr Tony has had to pull out a bank statement - i wonder if Sheikh Mansour had to do anything like that?
  13. The Daily Mail ran an article offering more information than the other rehashed content. Seems he's more of a goodie at the moment than not. Personally I'm cautiously optimistic.
  14. It has. Just found this article from January.
  15. I wonder if that picture of Xia with Wyness was taken ready for when the Premier League / Football League approve the takeover?
  16. The Daily Mail have published a more padded out version of the early news story: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-3603372/David-Moyes-considering-formal-offer-Aston-Villa-s-manager.html Still think Pearson would be my number one choice, but I'd be happy with Moyes.
  17. Small update since the original article was posted (sorry if already mentioned):
  18. Would we actually be able to spend £50 million on players with FFP? Hope we don't make any Ross McCormack-esque signings - by that I mean the transfer fee rather than the player himself.
  19. Think he would do well in the Championship, and would be one of the few players I'd keep.
  20. A Chinese consortium could be very exciting. It surprises me to think we'd be the first English club to be under Chinese ownership, particularly given their ambitions to invest in football
  21. Agreed. Has a point to prove after leaving Leicester. Certainly makes more sense than the likes of Steve Bruce. Knowing our board the lack of compensation needed will be a big plus too.
  22. Sums up this season that I had completely forgotten about Crespo!
  23. Good attitude or not, he's been associated with the worst Villa defence in years -- for several seasons. With that in mind, I personally would not keep him.
