  1. speaking to a few liverpool fans we reckon it might be Kyrgiakos as one of the potential signings. he played for mcleish in his last season for rangers, and would be one of those allowed to leave pool
  2. Wouldn't shock me if that's true. who've they got that'd fit in though? the greek might do a job at the back... what about agger/skrtl, how are they fixed in the pool squad these days? both would be fine additions but dont know if they'd sell as for a loan, who could that be? is there anyone at all in their squad that'd be beneficial for us to have on loan? they'd hardly let us have henderson would they?
  3. gotcha yeah that'll be given then so. no way we couldve managed to have someone else in BMH without it breaking although didnt the club make everyone sign an agreement of silence recently?
  4. I presume he means Given.. regarding the "too" there, what was he replying to?
  5. sure £10m is no bother. sign him up eck
  6. That defence horrifies me it should be: hutton---cuellar---dunne---young
  7. ill wager something along the lines of "better score a load of goals this season and **** off somewhere decent"
  8. yeah, he'll do a great job out on the **** wing :|
  9. No, it isn't. So what do we do? Say to Downing "you're not going anywhere". thats exactly what you say. you sit him down and you say "remember that contract you signed? that's legally binding. now get out there and play football like we pay you to do, and when we want to sell you we'll sell you" instead, we now have everyone knowing that as soon as a player says they want to go, we'll bend over and sell them. that's nonsense. you need to make a stand
  10. it doesnt even make up for the money we lost on complete and utter failures th ough
  11. general, when are the villa board going to wake up and realise that this is a professional sport and not happy la la land? when are we going to get our hands dirty and act the same way everyone else does in order to get ahead? its all well and good saying "thats not how villa work" but lets be honest here, villa dont work full stop. we turn down a top manager in mark hughes because he walked out on fulham, yet time and time again we let players and clubs walk all over us. you think we were hanging out for the best price for downing? we werent. that deal shouldve been on our terms, transfer request or not. if we arent getting all the young and downing money, plus money from randys pocket to spend then you shouldve been asking for £25m, or £30m. if we didnt want to sell, taking £20m is hardly showing that fact to the world. why not hold on to him for a year, and spend money elsewhere, then worry about his replacement next season when we cash in on him for £12m next summer? this "randy will back his manager" stuff isnt going to cut it unless we see at least the £36m from young and downing PLUS a minimum of £10m put in from randy spent this summer. backing your manager is not selling on players and then not giving all the money back. do we have the money from our sales to spend? do we have to further cut the wage bill? is randy going to put in money for transfers from his own pocket? are we trying to do things on the cheap?
  12. general why have we paid comphensation for mcleish? doesnt this suggest we tapped him up? and if we were so outraged with the fact that mark hughes was "dishonourable" and walked out on fulham, why in the hell have we broken the rules to go after the manager of a relegated club when we had hughes available on a free?
  13. Pretty sure their wage structure wouldn't support this. Thats what i said, but they must have some one in mind to let Carson go. carson was dropped and didnt get back into the team from mid season though wasnt he?
  14. us being a stepping stone isnt necessarily a bad thing. under mon we were one darren bent away from being the finished product. we didnt get him and we slipped away and had to start over. next time we need to take the chance. as long as players see us as a way into the national team and a stepping stone to the bigger teams, theres always a chance we can get the right personnel together at just the right time to let us gatecrash its much better that we're seen as the stepping stone than a team nobody wants to join full stop
  15. coz he's not really got anyone to cross to at arsenal, while at liverpool he's got a potential england starter in carrol perhaps?
  16. depends who we bring in gerrards knees are gone, he wont play more than 20 games for them adam will flop because hes only ever shone in a team build entirely around him, he even looked dodgy in scotland. steve sidwell mk 2 henderson has shown NOTHING to suggest he's a £1.6m player never mind a £16m one. again, like adam i wouldnt expect him to be anywhere other than the bench next season acqualani will be off meireles will be off lucas is turd
  17. sure theyve nobody worth having that theyd let go anyway
  18. im not sure if youre being sarcastic or not i hope you are
  19. charlie adam will be a full time bench warmer by christmas, and sold by next summer he's gonna be a complete flop there
  20. pool wont be in for him if they get downing
  21. sunderland wont pay the £60K a week ngozbia wants
  22. Downing stated he wanted to leave in May, before Houllier had gone .... ..well appointing a manager with worse PREMIERSHIP EXPERIENCE pedigree than Mick McCarthy was hardly going to change his mind . This appointment has sent out big signals to everyone including the players. Its made Downings pondering whether to leave or not a lot, lot easier. or better premiership experience than villas boas?7 stuf about the mccarthy stuff anyway, he's a fantastic manager What has Mick McCarthy won? hes never been at a team with the resources to win anything. he made ireland one of the better footballing teams in europe with a limited squad not too long ago
