  1. that depends on how we view things. is selling him now and having an additional player to replace a good idea considering we could get the defence and keeper sorted out this year, sell downing next year and then look for his replacement? the less players we need to replace the better imo, so id take the potential £10m hit that we might have if downing has a poor season
  2. very easily. he's got 2 years on his deal, and if we keep him he has to perform if he wants to go to the euros and get a big move next summer. perfect timing for us, since it doesnt matter how pissed downing is, if hes out of our team through not putting in a shift, he's out of the england team, out of the spotlight and out of a big move next summer
  3. this keeps being said, but i think theyve actually been quite decent of late
  4. an awful lot of people missing the point of this thread. the question wasnt "do you want mcleish"
  5. Same here. you're both **** mentalists. uncharted 2 is the best game of this generation
  6. wtf is up with your maths there? foster at 10m + 50k per week (2.6m per year) * 3 years = 17.8m given at 4m + 60k per week (3.12m per year) * 3 years = 13.36m kusczkak at 0m + 40k per week (2.08m per year) * 3 years = 6.24m
  7. isnt that what we're doing here thought? i know ill be lynched, but what about gomez. looks like spurs want rid of him. prone to 3-4 absolute stinkers a season, but he's relatively young for a keeper and might sort that out
  8. i love how on one hand the media are saying we dont have a pot to piss in and we need to cut wages, and on the other hand theyre suggesting this
  9. as said, injury free and he's a fantastic keeper. i honestly have my doubts whether we'd get more than a couple of years out of him before he retired with his shoulder though
  10. with barry we got another year out of him and still got £12m i think we did quite well all things considered
  11. if he doesnt play for england he cant demand international wages or raise his profile even higher though ideal scenario for us is we tell downing to sit down and shut the **** up, move him to the reserves if he doesnt wanna play and wait til he comes crawling back to fight for his place. fingers crossed he'd have a belter of a season, a brilliant euros, and we bend whoever wants to buy over a barrel in terms of transfer fee everyone's happy apart from liverpool
  12. a half arsed stewart downing doesnt get on the plane to the euros in the summer
  13. nor have arsenal are we as big a club as them?
  14. thats not what it says at all it says we'll be bullied into taking less money than we want by players who decide to go elsewhere. what we should be saying is "you signed the contract, you'll honour it, and we'll only sell on our terms"
  15. and if liverpool arent willing to offer us what we consider a realistic valuation what do we do? youre saying sell him since he doesnt want to be here, im saying sell him if we get the money we're looking for and not a penny less
  16. then every single player who fancies getting out on the cheap knows all they need to do is hand us a transfer request no thanks it needs to be treated the very same way the barry thing was. if he's spoken to pool without our permission, **** him in with the stiffs. he'll come back and make an apology when he realises he's not getting his way and his international chances are quickly disappearing
  17. yes but a player wanting out leads to issues and shit we dont need with young players thinking is the norm, I say let him go for 15m + if hes gonna be an asshole about it! but if hes an asshole about it you drop him to the reserves where he completely misses out on his england place, then you sell him on at the end of the season why let him bully us here? we have all the power this time, its not like ash, barry or milner with a year left. we had this situation with barry and we managed it quite well, id expect a repeat of that if we dont get what we're looking for
  18. just because he hands in a transfer request doesnt mean anything should change. liverpool either pay what we want or they dont get him downings not gonna refuse to play for us in the season leading up to the euros when he's in the england picture
  19. its a blanket thing encompassing all titles featuring clunky action mechanics in which your character is stopped from progressing forward by a 2 inch high pebble
  20. Well I'm glad I didn't read that until after I'd bought this, otherwise I probably wouldn't have! ME is a bug bear of mine i **** hate them with a vengeance
  21. FWIW Eurogamer does not agree and Neither does IGN finding some of the media reaction to this pretty odd to be honest. absolutely every forum i use where people have played it has been full of praise. ive yet to see a punter say anything even remotely negative about it ive got absolutely no idea what some of these reviewers are playing at, maybe ea pissed on their cornflakes about something, but i honestly cant see any way at all that this shouldn't be considered one of the best games of the year To be fair P3te, you said Mass Effect 2 was a pile of shit and that got GOTY. Its a matter of opinion. Any news on a demo for this? the mass effect games are turd however alice has been getting nothing but praise from gamers. ive still to see anyone say anything bad about it, yet the reviews are shocking - makes no sense at all
  22. sure its no good to him if livepool get mata though is it that'll put an end to downing going anywhere, coz you can be sure theres nobody else who'll pay the money for him
  23. downing hasnt actually done anything though he got in a badly advised photo while on holiday, but that's it obviously we've priced him out of a move to liverpool, and you'd expect that that's that now
