  1. After watching that drivel served up the weekend (Given exempt) and knowing that Randy Lerner's Aston Villa sell off the best player's each year could I ask just who do you think from this squad will sold next summer? Also should you ever discover how to log onto VT again to reply please don't bother saying we wont sell as it has been proven that under RL that is exactly what will happen and now (imo) you will be hard pressed to get a profit out of these players left. With this in mind do you agree with RL's letter? because from spending (if reports were correct) 12m each on Downing and Milner, 9.65m on Ashley Young and then selling these players on for a combined total of 62m (26m inc Ireland for JM, 20m Downing and 16m AY) Villa appear made a profit of 27m, which due to the stop on transfers will now not be continued. As the old saying goes "you have to speculate to accumulate". Don't give me any of the crap spouted that we need to reduce the wages bill more, after all the outgoing players this summer there has been plenty of cost cutting. If more cut's are need you really need to look at Paul Faulkner roll and ask what the hell he has been doing. Sorry if my tone sounds angry/rude it isn't meant to be disrespectful towards you or Randy as I really want you to both stay, it's more out of frustration of watching what I believe is a mistake that is playing out in front of us.
  2. WTF! If this is true then they should be ashamed. I hate the noses as much anyone but I still couldn't understand the mindless vandalism in what happened at the Sty last season so this against Derby is beyond me. Just who are the Aston Villa toilet boys? What a great reputation we are going to have if this continues.
  3. My question wasn't meant to mean go away - just do you feel it's run it's course because it just seems to be the same questions asked that you then rebuff and so on.......and on? I did read what you wrote stating you will only post once a week as I went through page after page until I came across your last post before I asked you the question. The trouble is though, that you yourself must miss some very good questions. For example a poster asked a question about the size of the new shirts even going to the trouble of putting a photograph to show you but as far as I can see this has been either missed, ignored or put into the too hard basket. Anyway as it will be another week and probably another 6-7 pages I doubt you will even notice this but just in case you do, my apologies to you or anyone else who mistakenly thought that I was asking you to go.
  4. General, No issue with this thread but (presuming you ever post again) would you agree that this thread has run it's course?
  5. Daily Mail are reporting that he will not be playing against Derby but give no reason so I guess fitness is way off??
  6. Lucky lad. LOL  My bad but Gareth you must be some kind of perv if you think that he would be a lucky lad hahaha!
  7. Ponky, 99 times out of 100 I would agree but I believe this lad could handle it and he looks good enough. Sometimes you have to try things, if it didn't pan out I'm sure that the fans would forgive him and F'eck would pull him off but I honestly think we have a gem of a player who would thrive. I doubt though if F'eck will put him straight in anyway but seeing him play has given me a lift and I can't wait to see more.
  8. I'm pleased that most of us are in agreement about GG, give him a place in the 1st 11. I can understand some say he's only had 15mins etc but you know what I felt the same when I first saw Brian Little, Gordon Cowans and David Platt some players just have "it". Barring another serious injury I can't see what will stop this kid from going on to play for England whether or not he is still with us I don't know but as the OP wrote we have a gem, lets enjoy him for now.
  9. 100% agree! I would go as far a to say after Given and Bent his name should be next on the team sheet. Very impressive even if it were for 15mins, F'eck I hope you took note.
  10. Given, brilliant signing. Dunne and Collins average. Bannan, Bent both looked good when they came on. lads we finally have a star in the making, he was only on the pitch for some 15mins but for me he was our best out field player, Gary Gardner will be a fantastic player. Hopefully F'eck will not have missed this and will give him game time this season. The rest Meh, completely out played.

Pre season friendly or not that was utter shite. Given was the only plus point for me. It's getting painful watching the amount of hoof balls being played. Aston Villa unprepared.
  12. I doubt if any are loyal like the fans are, unfortunately. If N'Zogbia turns out to be the success we all hope he will then in a couple of years time he may well do a Downing. By then he will be what seems to be the magic cut off point 27yrs to join one of the Sky scum. In the meantime though we will all hopefully be treated to some exciting play and great goals so I welcome his signing for Villa while looking forward to seeing how it all works out.
  13. True that! 10PM here few colds ones. Nice haha Kiwi Isn't everything is bloody cold over there, mate? I agree though actually watching a game (6pm Perth) not trying to stay awake was great. Average game but in difficult conditions.

Pretty much agree, though you have to credit Bannan with the assist and bear in mind the circumstances. I understand the point KSV but it's also a bit unfair to judge them on what was an average pitch in 90% humidity. I thought Bannan did well as did Delph when he came on but what was Clarke and Albrighton doing with a couple of back passes! lol Good win, bring on Chelsea.

I really want to see Gary Gardner given a run during these games in HK. Just in case any Aussie Villans don't know the game is being shown live on Fox Sport 3 tonight.
  16. me. i would rather we play hardball and save £1,000,000, which could be used on other players. I'd like to know what sort of player is available at £1 million that could improve even our matchday squad of 18. Wasn't 1 mill the transfer fee for Shaun Maloney? I know he lasted all of a year, but was a capable player when he got on the pitch, and a player of his ilk would certainly be welcome around Villa Park. I saw wee Shaun play for Celtic a few weeks back against Perth Glory, all I can say is thank god he is no longer at VP! We wouldn't pay a penny more than the 9m offered if it were up to me, as I believe we should never be mugged by any club. Move on to plan B.
  17. The 20m in The Sun etc is probably because of Whelans words, he said that he see other players going for around that price and he rates N'Zogbia as a better player hence the price 20m is written to create a headline. He might be right IF it wasn't for the fact that he has been quoted that Wigan need to sell N'Zogbia because he only has 12 months left on his contract. If AY went for 16m because of 12 months left on his contract then imo 9m for N'Zogbia is about right. If Wigan even try messing around with us ala Martinez then walk on, don't look back and tell Whelan that as "Gentlemen" we don't get down in the mud with small time chairmen trying it on.
  18. Given "should" be okay but the shoulder injury leaves me with concerns. Re, ManC fans? do you expect any difference? I mean they have had this type of arrogance fed to them from the red side of Manchester for years, now that they have real money they will act in the same dismissive way. It's human nature to follow like sheep, just like their pathetic copy of a Polish club's fans celebration! From Given it will be a step up from sitting on his arse on the bench.
  19. Marmite manager, I was a hater BTW??? But he has now been overtaken by McLeish !! How can you judge a manager that has done diddly!! He hasn't even managed to get any back room staff yet??? Nor a keeper or RB or LB or CH, AY's replacement, I guess he can do nothing about the Bluenose stench that will always be a part if him. I'm not have a dig at anyone but how can his performance over the past few weeks caused his approval ratings to increase? Nothing apart from AY leaving, the Bindippers having a bid rejected and press links to several players has happened, I doubt if he has had much to do with any of this.
  20. As long as the bindippers pay up I couldn't be less interested in Downing leaving, show us the money. I'm only interested in players that want to play for Villa and any new signings that come in, not those leaving. That said it really pisses me off that a player can with the help of his agent orchestrate a move without asking for a transfer and thus pocket a **** loyalty bonus! Cnuts the lot of them.
  21. I'll lay down a Billy McNeil and a Dr Jo Venglos to say you're wrong on that one. Ah I'm not so sure, hindsights a wonderful thing briny but I don't blame Billy McNeil as Turner had done the damage imo and Dr Jo well as I said hindsight but at the time I thought it was a bold attempt by Ellis. Honestly even after a couple of weeks I still can't believe he is our manager I just pray that he does prove to be better than Billy Mac and Dr Jo.
  22. F'eck is the worst appointment Villa have ever made IMO. However I don't blame him just the board. There was nothing he could do about Young so no blame attached to him for that sale and so far Downing is still here so I guess that might be a positive also. He also hasn't sold CC for peanuts so you could say he's doing okay however with no signings in yet I can't say yes. I will give F'eck a clean slate though and I would really be happy if he were a success at Villa but all my "spider senses" are tingling that his type of football is going to empty VP.
  23. The Sun are reporting that we have offered 2.5m but that they want double that, personally I would prefer Foster but Given is a good keeper so either would be fine by me. It also says that he is on 90k per week, if this is true imo this signing will not happen as no way will villa even consider paying out ManC type wages to ANY player let alone a 35 year old keeper!
  24. This, except we buy N'Zogbia and THEN flog him. I am wary of selling off players and then being screwed over by clubs knowing we are (a) flush with cash and ( desperate for a replacement. Haha, Ponky since when do we ever do that? I agree though mate it would be the best scenario for us, just never seems to pan out that way.
