  1. I'm surprised you still jump to his defence after he made you believe cut backs and the club you support being terrible was all part of a plan to build a new ambitious team and go again.
  2. Well there goes the one and only defence of randy Lerner.
  3. Did you miss the statement when he said the club was up for sale?
  4. It's going to be a real worry till we're sold. Lerner has potentially really **** us up.
  5. He's missed out on an important part of his football development. Take any youngster talented in a certain area and stop them from doing it for a couple of years and its going to have a huge effect on them. Hopefully he can stay free, get some minutes under his belt and start to become the player he was predicted to be.
  6. Are you still a believer in the project? Has it not hit home this cost cutting and gambling of the clubs premiership status was so a billionaire could minimise his losses?
  7. When are people going to learn that when it comes to the club accounts Risso is not the man to **** with.
  8. Sounds good. A consortium of wealthy billionaires and cortese signed on as CEO. Yeah I could live with that.
  9. If he goes who the hell is going to replace him the way things are now. In our final 10 games we got 7 points. I really think having Given as manager would see us do no worse than that.
  10. That's just not right though, is it? We've already done the "rebuilding a team to secure PL status" bit. Any players brought in now should (granted, should!) be of a better quality than before - be in with Lerner at the helm or a new owner. Obviously we haven't got the greatest team in the Premier League but I really don't understand the "we need a new owner or we're getting relegated next season!" chat. I can't understand it either. I think some people like to focus on the negatives and over react unnecessarily. I remember reading similar to anyone who thought we'd struggle for the past two years. We finished last season in abysmal form, our best player will not start the season fit and the fans have turned against the manager. I think there's reasons to be concerned.
  11. Not making out like we smashed it, just that we set a new club record in games lost. And yes we only lost 1 more than the year before in which Lambert was also in charge.
  12. While we're reminding people of home form and enjoying the 2 points more than mcleish let's not forget we lost more home games than any other season in the entire history of the football club.
  13. So if Lambert finished next season, two places lower on more points than this season you would see that as progress? Come off it. You'd take both into account. If you're talking 1 or 2 points higher and 2 places lower then no it would be hard to say that's progress but if there was a clear improvement in points then yes you'd have to say the team progressed.
  14. 38 points, which is the same as McLeish but with a worse goal difference, so it's worse. And more games lost than any other premiership season. Quite clearly our worst premiership season. It isn't though as I've just shown you we've previously finished lower. Repeat it as many times as you wish, it still won't be accurate.Statistics make it accurate not me repeating it.They don't either. Was there a season we got less points? Was it the lowest we've ever got? No. I've already answered this, no but there was a season when we got the same number and several where we finished lower. But according to you, finishing lower in the table doesn't constitute a worse season, so in your logic having the joint lowest point total but worse goal difference equals worst season ever. Which, in my view is nonesense. If Lambert had finished 16th this season you would be saying we'd gone backwards. Based on your 'logic' we could have got more points this season than last, gone down and it would be progress. Its nonsense and its just an attempt to try and force the facts to fit your opinion. We've finished lower than last season on at least 3 occasions, that we did so with more points is irrelevant. A lot of your assumptions about my logic is nonsense. I don't think you should just look at one aspect of the table. You seem to focus solely on league position which probably is because it suits your argument on this particular issue. I think you need to look at league position and points total together. League position is effected by other teams and how they did compared to each other so just taking that doesn't really paint a full picture. Likewise just looking at points total doesn't either, as you say its possible we could be relegated next year with 39 points which would clearly be worse. So looking at points total and league position together I think shows lambert's season to be worse. You can also include the fact that we lost more games than any other premiership year. Interesting you take losses into account but now wins. Why? Did we win a record number of games? Well thanks for telling me what I'd do.

  19. Which is why its a concern him staying on. With limited funds and full support of majority of fans he achieved our worst ever premiership season. With less funds and fans on his back straight away how's he meant to do better?
  20. I'm glad. I think such a highly rated youth player needs that chance to see if he can reach his potential. Just hope he can stay injury free.
  21. If he was only interested in self preservation, why not quit and blame the sale of the club. He would get another job. Or why not quit and claim constructive dismissal, ala O'Neill. I don't really see how him sticking at it, in the knowledge the club could be sold and he could be out of a job as being the better option for him for self preservation let alone the prospect of limping through a season if a takeover doesn't happen. No guarantee of getting a premiership job and surely its easier getting a pay off from new owners than trying to take the club to court.
  22. They seemed to think league placement was incredibly important when we sat in 11th place and were hearing all about the progress. It seems to have become less important now it doesn't support the view that he's doing a good job.
  23. Is that true? I'd say we have a worse squad. DOL was sacked and we've got a manager most fans can't stand. On top of that we've just had a season much worse than Doug's final year. Our squad was much better back then. We had Laurson, Mellberg, Bouma, Barry, Cahill. Those are the ones i can remember from the top of my head. We were heading one way under DOL and Doug and it wasn't up. We couldn't afford to loan Bakke if I remember correctly. Do you remember the players statement and subsequent turmoil? Are we heading in a different direction now?
  24. So its OK for you to want another manager after finally giving up on lambert yet you seem to have a problem with me wanting a new manager. Would we be scraping the barrel? Yes but to be honest I'm not sure how much worse it could get. Lambert has lost the fans and this season has showed that he's not up to much with this squad. If our form continues like it finished (with the fans against him and benteke not fit, I see no real reason why it won't) we could well be in serious trouble before January comes. Even after 2 years some of you think things are just going to click for Lambert. Well they haven't when he's had the full support of villa park so I can't see why they would now. A new manager, and yes it won't be a top name, would come in with different ideas. Lambert's shown his idea with the squad he's built doesn't work so maybe someone else could organise a defence that doesn't ship goals for fun or have a different plan than hoof it to a big target man. The 2nd half of the season we picked up 18 points from 19 games. The final 10 games we got 7 points from a possible 30. If that kind of form doesn't concern you I'm not sure what will. And to think no one could do better is quite strange. I think a lot of average managers could match or better that
  25. Is that true? I'd say we have a worse squad. DOL was sacked and we've got a manager most fans can't stand. On top of that we've just had a season much worse than Doug's final year. Making assumptions. No it's based on polls in the paper, the general attitude towards him at home games and the away fans turning on him during the last few away games.
