Unironically this. He's not a better striker than Kane, but he's a better all round player, and we'd be a better team with Watkins up top harassing, pressing and running the channels to keep teams on their toes rather than Harry Kane dropping back into defensive midfield because he's bored and wants to practice his quarterback balls. No chance it happens though.

Not so good in the area of...stats that encompass the striker's contribution to the game?!?! What does Toney do, give handjobs at half time to raise morale?
-
As much of nobhead as Martinez plays during the game, I loved that shot of him and Solanke at full time, they're clearly talking about the penalty and about how he knew which way he was going and he's violently gesturing to his eyes

There's a lot of hype about Toney but he just hasn't shown enough since coming back, for me it has to be Kane that gets the spot as Ollie Watkins' understudy.

Watkins could win the golden boot and have the most assists. And the conversation will still be about who should shine Kane's boots.

21, getting to grips with the PL, only cost £8m, and he already looks a bit special. Can't wait to see what he turns into

I was about to rage about the ref ignoring Watkins being assaulted 10 feet in front of him in our own half, but never mind.

It's crazy to think that Watkins would be our first golden boot winner in the PL era if he can do it, but Sunderland, Leeds, and Coventry have got one

We've got loads of thyme, but if we don't turnip in the second half, pop out for a bit and they're bound to leek a goal.

Yup. It's the mentality of us being used to being shit and playing 40 games a season. There should be much more football again next season, in the same way that Moreno and Digne have both got plenty of football this season, we need to get used to rotating players and leveraging each player's strengths fixture by fixture. You can't just figure out your best 11 and chuck the same side out every week when you're playing in Europe and competing in the cups.

All this talk of improving our badge and branding and we send Martinez out wearing a shirt that has the lion upside down... How does that happen, and how does it make it not just onto any replica shirt, but one we're sending a player out to wear in the Premier League. **** hell, Castore.

Yeah that looks a pen and a booking in real time, that was absurd That's why he shouldn't be in the team, absolute liability at the back

Nearly 30 years ago I called our teacher "mum" and I still occasionally think of it and cringe. How does this walking disaster of a human, the least successful prime minister in history no less, still have the sheer cheek to put out a book and go on the television like she is a credible person. I guess you've got to admire it really. If I'd been her for the last couple of years I think I'd be too ashamed to open the curtains.

The stats about the average time taken after interesting, and probably the best we have, but I'm not sure they tell the whole story. We've all seen how Emi will start to take the piss with the delays and mysterious injuries as we approach the end of games, and his average being in line didn't necessarily mean that the bookings were unfair if he's usually reasonably quick but then really drags out a couple at the end, he'd deserve the booking even if the average looks reasonable. The ones in the week were nonsense but I don't recall many others throughout the season that I didn't think he had coming.

Southgate was simply in the right place at the right time. They needed someone to come in quickly who wouldn't risk more embarrassments or scandals. Absolutely no way he'd have got the job without Allardyce causing so much trouble
