  1. Wow that's a shocking F.A.C.T. Fudging Awful Concocted Tripe. How is Delfouneso the most natural goalscorer? Luke Moore was a 'more natural' goalscorer than Gabby apparently but that means jack in the premiership. He should get a chance I agree with you there, but sorry Carew is a very good finisher, put him in the penalty area with the ball at his feet, the same with Delfouneso, and I would be far more confident that Carew would finish it than Delf.
  2. And likewise, the manager hasn't always appreciated the fans. The comment about not knowing what you have until you lose it applies both ways, although the manager does seem to have been unusually willing to praise the fans lately. Sorry, but MON has a right to feel agrieved with the fans booing the team off the field FIRST GAME OF THE SEASON. Terrible, and makes me ashamed at times. General, I'm an avid MON supporter, while at times I do question decisions (as do most fans) would like to sound out that the majority of villa fans I know appreciated everything the man has done for us. I for one would be sad to see him leave and hope you can let MON and the team know that they've done us proud whether the season ends with disappointment or joy- the overall season has been an enjoyable roller-coaster ride. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK. VR07
  3. I chose Sidwell. Just don't see any work ethic from him. Any game we play against anyone he seems to play well for 15 minutes then disappear from the match entirely, atleast Heskey is beginning to show some effort in the last few games and that is the reason I chose him.
  4. I've heard the opposite - people I know with knee problems use the treadmill rather than the roads until it's cleared up. Personally I wouldn't touch a treadmill with a bargepole, I hate gyms with a passion. Run off road. Is supposed to damage your knees if you dont have it at an incline apparently- should be at 1.0 at the least incline on most treadmills takes shock away from your knees i was told when i changed gym.
  5. ok ive got a very long chant and anything with an * at the side im not happy with so would like suggestions but think if it got going could last a very long time chanting it and sound fantastic. To the tune of Jeff Buckley's Hallelujah. There was a team with a great manager onboard * His name is O’neill he is the lord* but you don't think we’ll finish fourth, do ya? well it goes like this you were fourth, now you’re fifth the major fall into the abyss the rise of the Mighty Villa. We’re The Villa... Your not gonna finish fourth here’s the proof We’d shout it from the stands up to the roof! The day the villa overthrew ya We knocked you to fifth and kept you there But bet you wouldn’t even care ‘Cus you’re not true fans like us are ya? We’re The Villa... The claret and blue were here before We’re gonna knock you out of the top four You don’t even have a European cup, do ya? *can’t think of a line, suggestions welcome* We’re on a victory march * And would love to see a broken gooner*. We’re The Villa... well we’re here to stay and now you know the team you will always be below but you deserve it, don’t ya? You’ve not improved, this is true move over for the claret and blue and a top four that has Villa. We’re The Villa... well, maybe there's a god above A top four with the villa we love Tears coming from ya champions league on the night But no Arsenal even in sight Cus it’s back to glory for the Villa WE’RE THE VILLA , WE’RE THE VILLA, WE’RE THE VILLA ... WE’RE THE VILLLLLAA!
  6. To what tune? Cant say what tune i had in my head i just read it aloud and it sort of fits with the amount of words- sorry cant help dont think i had a massive idea for a tune just come up with the words and there is a pause at the end of each line. But after the support of the Holte end there is a longer pause cus it is a start of another verse lol... not much help i know though- just thought at this point need to get some chants going to get the team playing and winning
  7. got bored and come up with this... i think its ok We believe we'll finish fourth, Our champions league push is still on course, We're the Villa and a message we will send, cus the lads have the support of the holte end, For Martin, Randy and the rest, prove that villa are the best. So come on Villa do us proud, And We the fans will sing aloud, We will sing songs of history, Come on this is your chance for glory!
  8. James Milner got pregnant with Gabriel Agbonlahor's love child and decided to keep it... it was in the NOTW- no lie
  9. Being only 18 i cant really remember us winning anything, I've only heard stories of it and the facts to prove it. But I have the same concerns as everyone else despite little experience of success I am apprehensive what the success will bring in terms of the glory hunting supporters to the club... I have chosen my club as Villa because I was brought up on them and it is the only team I have ever wanted to go see since I was a kid (great upbringing ) and I support anyone in whatever match that will benefit the Villa. Despite hating Tottenham (can't really explain why) I find myself today hoping they win so we're 8 points clear. Experiencing rough patches under Doug Ellis for me proves that im a true Villa fan- I could easily have switched my attention to Man Utd or Arsenal if I had my head turned, but I didn't and despite frustration since I remember with Villa it is the first real chance to feel that my team is going to succeed and whether that success is ruined by glory hunters or by bitter fans who can't handle our achievements(wishful thinking at the moment) I am not gonna let them take that feeling of pride when they achieve or let it be ruined by fake fans- the feeling of promise when Lerner took over made me more excited than I can remember as a fan (hence the name) and I wont let anyone take or ruin my chance to experience glory after not being able to remember any success other than getting one over the blues in my memory. Our Club is different we have a great club that is succeeding the right way. success to me is breaking the top 4, even for a year I will be very proud of em.
  10. Likewise Luke Young as a left back IMO he's worthy of a place as he's been in our most consistent performer, possibly Petrov aside. Agree completely L. Young is my favourite signing of the summer... has impressed me beyond belief- gone from me thinking 'oh im glad we got the RB position sorted but is he good enough?' to being certain that he is an amazing player and if he plays like this for the rest of the season will definately be the best purchase of the window IMO. Would hate to be 'Boro losing him- class performer.
  11. Wasn't sure i saw a post looking over the season so far to see peoples views of how the campaign is going, please remove mods if i havent done this right. Some questions i think we should ask as fans to ourselves, our teams, the FA and the Premier League: 'Respect' campaign can it be called successful yet? Was and is it the correct idea for the FA to introduce the campaign as an attempt to make officials jobs easier ? It is just over half way through the season and what can be perceived by fans and clubs as being successful so far, if anything? Do you think all clubs have adhered to the idea the campaign has set, and what punishments should be introduced to ensure this is enforced? Last question... can this campaign be made any more successful than it is, and any suggestions on how this can be done?
  12. Luke Young... fantastic addition to the squad and that is why i vote another... he has played RB and LB for us and has held his own and looked assured every time he plays... definately an unsung hero, back 4 hasn't looked like the real deal for years and he is getting us one step closer to the perfect back 4... when Bouma is back will be an amazing defence.
  13. Ashton when fit would be an amazing signing - would prefer him over owen, RSC and Defoe IF FIT. But the last 2 years cannot just be looked past, if we spend over 10 million on a player I expect that player to play a good 70% of our games in the season otherwise it is a bad signing... Can't be guaranteed by anybody but is more likely in a player that is consistently fit that we get value for money- which is why i voted for Defoe. Don't care what anyone says he is a natural finisher and we would of killed to have him over Pompey a year-or-so ago.
  14. I voted Defoe and to back up my opinion out of the players there i will criticise the rest for why i wouldn't have them over defoe: Owen, RSC, Ashton... fantastic players I admit but my main problem with them is injuries and fitness, I DONT WANT TO SPEND 10 MILLION etc... ON A CROCK. Heskey- big fish little pond, that simple. He, in my opinion, has the potential to be a good player but also has the potential to be an enormous flop and waste of money, possibly another Harewood in my view. Doyle- championship player? I'm yet to see his scoring boots in the premiership, risky but not one I would take. Crouch- ROUTE 1 anyone? Send him to Bolton he would be fantastic for their style of football. Defoe... bit small I admit but proven finisher, put him on the ball 1 on 1 and 8/10 its in the back of the net. In my opinion we will bid for him as he is English and MON loves his English players. Would love to see the chap in Villa colours, however, if Zaki is still scoring for fun I think we should seriously take a good look at him.
  15. General, Went to the Holte pub before the Zilina game, did have moments where i was disappointed with the club apparently only 4 people are allowed in off the same group but you can buy 6? After one of us who went to the game sent an email and questioned this the 2 of us, me and my cousin were allowed in. And is a really nice pub, well run by the looks of it and a great atmosphere in there. Just wanted to let you know that I was very impressed with how our problem was coped with and how well the club has done with the pub, looks great and staff are very quick even when the bar was packed- very impressed, and with the luck of getting invites made our day despite the loss, might of just been the alcohol though . Great pub, great club.
  16. Gabby looks really similar for some reason but i think Friedel has to be the funniest 1
  17. General, Just wondering what the policy is on ticket sales online... me and 3 other people were keen to get tickets for the villa vs liverpool game on the 31st August. Now i thought prebooking history gave people the chance to buy tickets early? Only went to 2 games last year and have been a bit frustrated at not being able to get tickets - just wondering when the tickets come on general sale to people who have only recently been able to muster the money to go see our team. I'm all for rewarding people for regular visits to the team but am finding it increasingly frustrating when we all want to show support in a big game and feel slightly cheated that we are down the pecking order because of a pre-booking rule/policy. Is there anyway of getting tickets earlier so we dont miss out or do we have to wait till they come on general sale and most probably miss out on a game we would love to go to?
  18. Would be quality if whole crowd sang that- show em how hated they really are and shows them that they gonna have to work hard to keep that 4th spot.
  19. I put yes... thin their attacking options in the premiership can only be rivalled by the top 4 and spurs and possibly ours... their defence on the other hand i would rate as badly as Boro's and i can see Sunderland doing really well this season... but still believe they have what it takes to make it into top 10 this year, probably just scrape it.
  20. General, I would like to echo some of the posts on here, hoping that some of the responses and best wishes of the fans will be passed on to Wilfred Bouma by yourself or a representative of the club- showing how much fans of the club do care... Best wishes to Bouma, may he have a speedy recovery and he will see how pleased the fans will be on his return to the team. Keep up the good work, VR07
  21. General, after watching sky sports news they seem to be clearly stating and its 'MAJOR NEWS' that our fans are booing Gareth Barry... I personally having been there (unfortunately not) would have done exactly the same, hoping this might shock some sense into the man or at least displayed our disgust at his antics... Do you believe our fans are being harsh or do you believe it is appropriate to show our opinions and voice them verbally against someone who despite recently has given us 10 years of service? will understand if you do not answer but would appreciate your view on fans voicing opinions :winkold:
  22. General, I for one am anticipating eagerly your response regarding the logo being placed on the pitch... i have to say what a fantastic idea! Possibly could show commitment to acorns putting their logo on the pitch also? Also would like to add how pleased i am that the club has shown that respect and loyalty are fundamental to AVFC and disciplining Barry has shown the club's stance on the situation- continuing to impress despite raising the bar significantly higher every time!
  23. General, as stated many times in the press, Liverpool have not offered a substantial enough bid - or one that is of our valuation of Gareth Barry - do you believe this article will give us less chance of gaining our valuation in the transfer? (i.e:- we have to sell Barry for a lower price) or will the club still maintain an attitude of full price or he stays... despite Barry's open minded declaration that he 'MUST' leave Villa park? Have faith in everyone at AVFC- yourself, Randy and MON.
  24. I think it is a very good post... and i think if Barry could see that post right now he would be hoping that what happened to Bosnich wont happen to him... i personally hope it wouldnt if he left, he is a model professional and has been committed to villa for a large portion of his life and deserves success... but success that is possible with villa in a few years. -Bosnich is a sad case, he was at the top of his game with us and became a nobody in a short period of time... no wonder he turned to drugs and ended his career there and then. -Yorke, yes could have helped villa to achieve but cant complain about how he was seen at man utd... justified his choice- even if i wasnt happy with it. we will see what the future holds for Barry but hindsight is a beautiful thing and he may look back and regret it if he becomes a nobody and villa becomes a huge force in the premier league.
  25. I believe it is unfair to say that MON will not play him if he is not perceived as being '100% villa'. The past 10 years he has given us 100% and 10 years is a long time and he is getting on a bit and has decided to gamble on his career (unwisely in my opinion, but it is his choice to throw our support and his England career down the drain). Like many here i dont like the way he has gone about this situation... but still we should be angry at liverpool, benitez and Gerrard and make them know that we hate them in the next games we play them about there conduct in this.... Barry probs will leave but we are making them pay for his services and barry should see it as an insult to him and villa if they dont pay the asking price- and if he does stay that is why he will still give 100% to us - i hope.
