  1. Again as one of numerous fans all who have mentioned before... CONGRATULATIONS on a fantastic gesture from the club and from yourselves as well... everyone who agreed and his behind the idea are legends and have ensured ur place in heaven and in the villa fans' hearts. You have shown everyone in the premiership and around the world how a football club should be run have gained the respect and admiration of not only your own fans but those of other teams across the globe... I believe you will save the premiership from greed and self-importance and have already demonstrated that football is just a small part of the club's whole message. LONG MAY THIS NEW VILLA LIVE and once again a big THANK YOU from everyone who loves the club and of course the people you have selflessly helped to save.
  2. Well i for one think that is a very good post and does give alot of negatives but the league position itself is an ENORMOUS positive and its clear that the signings MON did make of Harewood for example were doubted but have now been fully justified- am eagerly anticipating next season hopefully with some players coming in before hand at they are required but wont doubt Oneill if my expectations arent matched this transfer window i will not doubt him or the teams chances... Barry will stay im confident Oneill is the man to keep him at the club.
  3. Have never thought of a managers youth system... but the only reason i see that they do not have one is that they\would put money and effort into manager creation with no guarantee of getting a future top draw manager or finding a prodigy... and even if they did, there are no guarantee tht they will want to manage villa or that they will ever be required by the club in the future. Is an interesting concept but personally think the club will see it as a more of a loss to them than a potential gain (dont get me wrong there is potential for gain from your idea, i just dont see the weight of profit/loss as being beneficial). is a very good question though... one i think you should look to ask the general about because they should be able to see the potential in a manager's academy.
  4. He is lucky he wont play him in the last game cus if i were there i wud make my opinion known of him... hasnt been a good servant to the club so has no right to comment on club players and that they shud jump ship before an important last game... good riddance berger - wont miss him- shows how lucky we have been to get players like melberg who have been a great servant to the club and wish them all the best... not what i can say for berger
  5. General, this is my first post post villa- brum derby and am happy to say i am pleased to call myself a villa fan as i have been since Lerner has taken over the club and especially so with our recent performances... being nothing far from a magical season what ever the outcome... Anyway my question for you- How would you personally describe the clubs backing to MON in the next transfer window whatever the outcome of the season... will european qualification entitle Oneill with improved funds or will the funds remain the same whatever the outcome? Thank you in advance for your time and effort General... doing a smashing job
  6. depends what u mean by 'best' i personally love the xbox 360 it has so much choice in terms of games and has titles that are massive like GTA being released as well as the ps3... never played a ps3 and have heard nothing but bad things. for innovation alone the wii is by far the best... but single player gameplay is 360 ... my vote is 360 but love the wii as well.
  7. Fantastic display from what i have seen, General i believe the changes internally in the club and the positive behind the scene management from yourself and Lerner have given the players and MON a perfect basis to express the football and above all pick up the points... would like to congratulate the team on a great display following the man utd match and am eagerly awaiting the transfer window where im sure with Randy Lerner's backing we will be a huge force to contend with at the FORTRESS and intimidating atmosphere the fans have made of villa park and away from home. Congratz all round! ----- VR07
  8. Gamertag: shellshock007 (yes i know it sucks - not paying to change it tho) i play Fifa 08 and CoD4 at the moment
  9. Hi general, have just read an article on fansfc.com sent from my friend and although i know it is an unreliable resource can you shed any light on if any truth in this article at all? The Midlands club have made giant strides under chairman Randy Lerner and, of course, manager Martin O'Neill, with the club having a chance of a top-four finish and a UEFA Champions League spot this season. O'Neill will be given a huge amount of cash in the summer to ensure progress is maintained at Villa Park, with some reports suggesting he could even be the biggest spender in the country. It is believed that Villa want to become regular Champions League competitors, and there are even claims that Lerner wants the league title before the end of the 2010/11 season. "He has big plans and I realise that if I do well I can realise those ambitions here,” O’Neill said of Lerner. "If this football club can afford it, I will happily spend money. I would have no qualms about it.” Appreciate the good work, VR07
  10. I really liek the idea of that sydney song at villa park thing it will be as effective as bayern munichs chant - BAYEEEEEERN! and will get the players going really well- if i went to more games i would defianately chant that one... think it wud be amazing to hear in full force- gotta get that going lads
  11. Hello general, just wondering if there was any news of the date when tickets for the home game against Birmingham are being released? Me and my friends want to make this years our first local derby, hope you can give some word even if it is soon or a general time so that we can quickly get tickets before the game sells out like im sure it will. Thanks for the good works ------ VR07 ------
  12. General, as everyone else has voiced thier opinion on the over seas world-wide premier league fixtures I would like to share my stance on the matter, but first would like to congratulate the team on a hard fought win against newcastle today and with such comfort at the end it truly shows we are in transcendence and shows our desire to gain a european cup spot. Now my opinion on the over seas matches is that i am against them(like many others)... and agree yes that it is a money profiting scheme that is more beneficial to the larger clubs unless all the money from the games is equally shared between every single club in the premier league. I also believe it takes the passion and the achievement of qualifying for europe out of the game, as it stands during a league campaign the european spot is the only way to travel abroad and play in a foreign country while the league is in full swing. I believe this is the main reason this should be boycotted. I am a firm believer of a level playing field and so believe that if this were to go ahead it should guarantee fairness and equality that is impartial to clubs of any size i.e:- equal chances of drawing any team for this game (no seeded teams) and if this were to be implemented we should agree to the proposal reluctantly. I believe this plan will go ahead due to the money it will raise, the pressure from big clubs on the premier league and representatives from large clubs involved in the FA. And have full faith that AVFC is in good hands with Randy Lerner at the helm and will support the club no matter what the outcome.
  13. Hello General- i will be asking a little off topic question, hope you dont mind. I was wondering who you would like to see in the superbowl final for pure entertainment value, who you would prefer to see in the final for personal reasons and whether you have a preference on who wins. Looking forward to your answer. VR07
  14. read back in the forum... it is what Everton did to the away fans where they split them up so that they are less likely to make more noise than the home fans- yet i dont see how our fans can be matched for noise this season both home and away
  15. I have to admit every regular match going football fan both away and home supporter knows that there arespecific areas for them to be. Away supporters in the 'AWAY' section and vice versa. I am all for getting villa park full and profitable from the seats being sold to supporters but i think they should be kicked out on the principle that they know they can only sit in the away section... and otherwise i think should be seen as an attempt to cause trouble at the game and so should be dealt with severely by kicking out and banning them, I think it is disgusting that away fans can fully support their team in home sections, shout and celebrate because many home fans at villa and elsewhere would not tolerate it and would feel as though they were mocking them and the club by doing so. so i agree zero tolerance should be shown.
  16. well our squad seems to of settled and apart from the tottenham game we are conceeding less goals by stupid mistakes- MON defianately has sorted out our team defensively and we are doing what everton did a few seasons ago and taking the 3 points away in solid performances - looks promising and i think we may have a bit of a mid season downer but i dont think it will be as bad as last season... i hope- but i am happy so far this season we have got results when we can and have been exciting which is what i personally want.
  17. After this weekends victory over Birmingham ('The scum' as i commonly call them) us as villa fans are proud with the teams performance but above all the result. General i was wondering how the board, yourself and Randy would continue this local rivalry success over our bitter rivals in the future and whether you believe this is something we should come to expect with our new european asperations with the new leadership at the helm of the Villans, also do you believe we will be having local derbys on a regular seasonal basis in years to come?
  18. it says he went down too easily or 'Dived' which is same thing really going down when you could carry on... "I could maybe have gone on, but I would have never got the ball, it was not an option, so I went down. " he has basically just admitted he went down cus he cudnt of got the ball- not the fact that the contact was that heavy he couldnt keep to his feet. So there is proof maybe if he had tried to keep going the ref may have given something but he would never have complained if he got the decision cus from that quote he pretty much decided that split second he was going to go down because he could get to the ball... so i agree with taunton wot a tosser
  19. Disagree i think you notice Gabby's performance more because he is fast paced and runs up and down the pitch which is his job but i think Moore was told to stay up and let gabby be the link between him and the midfield you are entitled to your opinion... and i do agree we need to see what Maloney has to offer if not when Carew is out then we might not see him at all the way its going. But i think Moore shows understanding with others and shows why he should be in the team for his goal poaching but hasnt had the supply to show what he is capable of yet.
  20. General out of curiousity what was your view of our performance against man utd and what is your opinion of the sendings off by the prat in black?
  21. I thought carson sending off was harsh... We were 2 goals down and Styles was just being a cock and showing he's not afraid to send someone off when a penalty and a yellow wud of been enough- would of sealed defeat anyway and now he screwed us over in next match as well- such a prick really. Now we gotta show strength in depth- just lucky really we got Derby next which we should get a result from. Knight was bad yesterday he had rooney to mark and didnt do his job so i think Oneill will drop him till he shows why he should be in the team again. Rooney really is hardto mark but if laursen can do it with Drogba then Knight shoudl be able to do same.
  22. hahaha bully that would be funny- and i agree general 90 minutes of hard work and determination against man utd from our lads will suit me fine and will be happy whatever the result may be.
  23. Im also disappointed with the result to lose a three goal lead to any team is terrible really. But i think there last goal made up for gabby's interference (from offside) in one of our goals... but i still feel hard done to as it was the equaliser. But i think it was like playing with 9 men last few minutes with Harewood and PEtrov on the clowns - was bad decision but should be able to cope with the attacks without stupid mistakes - like harewood's the moron. Was thrilled at 4-1 and humiliated at 4-4 and that summarises my attitude- is brilliant to score 4 away but to not get a result when doign it is criminal. BETTER PERFORMANCE NEXT TIME LADS
  24. biggest change for me on the pitch is attacking drive- which under other manager before oneill wasnt there or enough. off the pitch - enthusiasm , full finanacial support and great crowds so far this season
  25. Was disappointed wiv laursen and NRC yesterday - didnt think the team looked totally interested and didnt make schmeichel work from open play... only time we looked gd was from corners and tht was cus schmeichel flapped at a couple very irritated by not continuing well after chelsea...
