  1. I think if we had Pau with Mings beside him it would be the right balance. Mings is 70%+ aerial duels won and is very fast and is a very good defender. We were worried by lack of that dominant big CB when Mings did his ACL. Carlos hasn't been good enough from set pieces in winning first contacts. IF we are to sell Carlos we need a CB who is right footed and has the attributes we need akin to Mings. Defence lacks balance but should be fixed this summer
  2. Yes, we'd go with 2 FBs or Pau Mings Konsa and a FB. Flexible with which side. We'll see that next season.
  3. Torres is a good defender but his primary skill is in build up and progressive passing. Build up is absolutely key to us and with Pau we can break and counter though the high press so well. I think he is best suited to LCB of the back 3 in possession and would be perfect with Mings and Konsa in the back 3. That would be the right balance
  4. I think there's been a fixation a bit too much with capacity of VP, the hope we would improve capacity so that can yield more season tickets available for those on waiting list. When what the club want to do is look to compete with the other big clubs in terms of revenue while delivering improved facilities and fan experience at games. The key to this is creating a path for fans to go to one or two games a year with friends as an event. Go to Villa Park 2 hours before kick off and stay 2 hours after. Spend plenty of money on food and drinks and expensive seats. Doing this while best catering to the season ticket holders in terms of ticket prices and facilities too. Improving the experience for all. Transport links too. So there would be improvements in terms of adding more seats and then maybe in time corners could be filled in or work done to increase that more, in smaller increments of a few thousand to get us to 50,000 while not demolishing a stand and cutting capacity and revenue while it's rebuilt. I think a focus on regenerating the area is a big one too so making it a place people can and do visit when there is no football on. All very positive things. We have excellent owners and Heck is doing a fantastic job. Let's see what he does with the additional sponsors and partners next season. Close the gap, double digit revenue growth.

We wouldn't have been playing tonight for you to criticise him if he didn't score in Lille
  6. A tired and injury ravaged team who have run out of road. Still immensely proud of them and this run in Europe will be a benefit to them all next season. Even saying that. It seems Olympiacos did get the rub of the green over the two legs. That's cup football though.
  7. I think the players want that more than any of us. They are as dead on their feet as it comes
  8. We need to stop losing football matches. Let's hope Monday is the day
  9. They got the first goal with their first shot. You need some luck in football they have had plenty of it over the two legs. That's cup competition
  10. Good lessons learned from this run. We ended a game short but experience will stand us on good stead.
  11. That's football sometimes. Sometimes you playbwell and lose
  12. So what. We are 7 points clear in 4th because of some sensational form from him and others
  13. Conserve energy for Monday. Lost cause after they got the first goal. Huge ask of the squad with all the injuries. They've been amazing this season proud of them.
  14. We'll sort it out next season. We need to get over the line for CL and let the team rest and recover
  15. Ok thanks, internet was my source and had us at 33,000 and 30,000 on the two places that had figures.
  16. Unfortunately the club can't take 2 seasons without the stand especially as all the new fan areas and such will be located behind it.
  17. Yes, we should only be looking to do this while keeping the balance of season ticket holders to total capacity around the 65-70%
  18. We sold 33,000 season tickets for this season from what I can find on the internet. Which is about 78.5% if total capacity. 65% is around average for PL in terms of season ticket holders, if it's true we dropped the number to 27,000.
  19. There is a difference between revenue and attendance. Simply based on supply and demand. The more demand there is and restricted supply the higher the market can take in terms of price increases. So if you look at Villa Park from a revenue perspective a new stand that adds 8,000 capacity is not really the effective way of raising revenue. We should tackle the following things. We have too many season tickets in relation to the capacity of VP, it's around 80% which is among highest in the league. We need to be aiming for closer to 70% and the remaining 30% are higher priced seats that tap into the current demand. Additionally we need to be pitching our average season ticket prices in the top 8 to 10 of the PL. Then we need to focus needs to go on getting fans to Stadium earlier and leaving later and making access to food and drinks plus speed they are served to be much improved so more revenue per fan can be generated. That is the priority for revenue growth from match day. Not just adding 8,000 seats in less than premium area of North Stand. Which begs the question, what was going to happen to the season ticket holders in North Stand for the two years it was demolished? They just miss out for two seasons including the CL ?
  20. No he's right footed and plays on left
  21. It depends what you are calling privately cancelled. If you are talking about the North Stand redevelopment, knocking it down and rebuilding over a 2 year period then yes it's cancelled on that form. If you are saying privately cancelled in relation to improving the capacity of Villa Park to reach 50,000 the I'd say no. It's not cancelled, there will be iterative improvements at a minimum to increase capacity. It's currently unclear how we will be improving Villa Park in coming years. Will we mostly work within the confines of the existing structure so that we don't have any loss of capacity during the season? So a focus on reconfiguring and filling in the corners. Will be interesting whenever the club announce their plans.
  22. I think a lot of players will be sold with sell on clauses, like Barry for example. He need's to join Stockport on a permanent basis and get a run of football and stability. We can put in a 15% sell on clause Others will be Loaned out or sold with similar buy back or sell on clauses. Iroegbunam might stay with us as Kamara is out injured and Tim qualifies as home grown player for UEFA squad next season having been here for 3 years in July. So might be one to keep around then Loan out in Jan if required to get more mins once Kamara is back
  23. If Tielemans, Martinez and Zaniolo are fit we should have a decent chance I feel. Who knows with these games, I think the will play their similar style and try get the goal which ends the tie. I think first goal is important not when it's scored, just who scores it
  24. I've been seeing how long these ACL injuries are taking to recover from it's 8-9 months, then how long before the player then gets mins on the pitch? Then gets match fitness? I think we will see Kamara back in training in Nov potentially the back on the pitch sometime in Dec and maybe getting starts in Jan. Tammy, Mings and Buendia all taken 9 months to recover. The good thing is players do recover from this injury we have seen it numerous times now in modern football. Mings and Buendia get a pre-season too which is the right kind of build up for them
