  1. That would see us relegated next year for sure!
  2. There is some talk of some kind of 'release clause' in McLeish's contract if we underperform...I would assume that he needs to see out the full season for any clause to kick-in, hence no sacking now
  3. Mat Kendrick doesn't seem to think that we'll get Lambert for some reason...hope he's wrong
  4. A couple of newspapers linked us to him last week.
  5. I thought something had happened because this thread had moved on about 10 pages since I last looked, but no, it's people saying "we've hit 1000 pages", etc! And now I have added to it! D'Oh!
  6. Look like we're stuck with him for the last 2 games according to James Nursey (business as usual according to him)
  7. Can't argue with the facts. Lambert is my number 1 choice (and has been since last summer)
  8. Any player specualtion is pure BS right now. We're not going to sign anyone until we know who AM's replacement is.
  9. I really can't understand the mentality of some Villa fans. Lambert is one of the best up and coming (and to some extent proven) managers in the country...why wouldn't we want him? Rijkaard and Benitez are pie-in-the-sky. We don't have the money to compete at the very top, so we have to get a good young manager and give him time. Lambert is a perfect fit for us.
  10. If anything, Rodgers is more of a flash in the pan. Did poor jobs at Watford and Reading, Lambert hasn't failed in any of his jobs.
  11. I think it's a combination of him looking resigned (only talking about next 3 games), the statement from Randy (only mentioning 3 games) and most journos are openly talking about his position becoming untenable since Tuesday.
  12. Lambert is better than that, not a flash in the pan. Wycombe - League Cup semi (drew 1st leg 0-0 with Mourinho's Chelsea), Norwich - taken a mid table League 1 to mid table Premier in 2 years...he is proven!
  13. ^^ He's made his name (in management) in England though, so why does his Scottish nationality affect his ability?
  14. He's going.....isn't he!? EVerything in the past 2/3 days is pointing to that....the nightmare is nearly over. Matt Kendrick seemed to think that he may go after the West Brom game because the atmosphere vs Spurs would be horrendous and not help the team.
  15. It's the results over a season that matter, not just a small selected period. Norwich have 0 'Premier League' players, yet they are comfortably in mid-table, with any other manager I'm certain they would have been relegated.
  16. Lambert would be awesome for us, I so hope this happens. 2 obvious highlights in his managerial career so far are guiding League 2 Wycombe to the League Cup semi-final (vs Chelsea) and back-back promotions with Norwich. Lambert is a winner, would probably out-grow us eventually but I'd be happy with that because it would mean that he's done a good job here.
  17. I've just donated too...probably won't work, but at least we can say we've tried!
  18. West Ham with Avram Grant (after he'd got Portsmouth relegated), and guess what....? They went down!
  19. No back-to-back wins all season, and we haven't 'doubled' anyone this season. We deserve to go down
  20. 7 wins in 35 games tells the whole story. A newly promoted team with no aspirations would be disappointed with that return. How he is still in a job in beyond belief...there is not one single thing to like about our club right now. I hate the manager, I hate the chairman, I don't particularly like any of our players either. How on earth have we ended up like this from almost qualifying for the champions league only TWO years ago?
  21. I honestly can't think of anyone deserving of our POTS award. I don't think the club should bother with one this season
  22. Maybe thats part of the problem....not good enough and not a big enough personality to be 'Mr Aston Villa'
