  1. You just have to see some of AM's press conferences in the past few weeks to see that he is clearly deluded. He may want to stay, but he will be sacked, Randy may be stubborn, but he does have £150m (ish) invested in Villa, he won't want us flirting with relegation again next season.
  2. He's not staying, he's just acting as though he is so he can get his big fat pay-off.
  3. I just worry that if Randy see's that advert, he will just stick 2 fingers up at the fans and keep McLeish
  4. OK, I give up! I really hope we get him and he shows how wrong you are
  5. I'm not sure if you are being serious or not, but I'll humour you this once. They are comfortably above us despite only being promoted last season and spending less than N'Zogbia cost us last summer! I would wager any money that Norwich's wage bill is about 1/3 of ours. They have over-achieved massively, why can't you see that!?
  6. So you are basing your opinion of Lambert on 1 game!? Unreal
  7. I'm sure I read that he'd got a managerial job in Denmark
  8. No1 choice and the outstanding candidate in my opinion would be Paul Lambert. I just think Lambert and Villa would be so well suited. I think he could deliver instant results and get us pushing for top 8 without too much investment. I wouldn't mind Martinez either, but I think we would have to take a more patient approach with him. Our current players are all set for a Paul Lambert type team (grafters, counter attacking) and the whole mentality of the playing staff would have to change under Martinez (which may not be a bad thing but I'm not sure the fans would give him the time to do it).
  9. I'm sure Lerner and Faulkner could twist that to their own means, and say "he's played in the Premier League for many years", etc.
  10. That would see us relegated next year for sure!
  11. There is some talk of some kind of 'release clause' in McLeish's contract if we underperform...I would assume that he needs to see out the full season for any clause to kick-in, hence no sacking now
  12. Mat Kendrick doesn't seem to think that we'll get Lambert for some reason...hope he's wrong
  13. A couple of newspapers linked us to him last week.
  14. I thought something had happened because this thread had moved on about 10 pages since I last looked, but no, it's people saying "we've hit 1000 pages", etc! And now I have added to it! D'Oh!
  15. Look like we're stuck with him for the last 2 games according to James Nursey (business as usual according to him)
  16. Can't argue with the facts. Lambert is my number 1 choice (and has been since last summer)
  17. Any player specualtion is pure BS right now. We're not going to sign anyone until we know who AM's replacement is.
  18. I really can't understand the mentality of some Villa fans. Lambert is one of the best up and coming (and to some extent proven) managers in the country...why wouldn't we want him? Rijkaard and Benitez are pie-in-the-sky. We don't have the money to compete at the very top, so we have to get a good young manager and give him time. Lambert is a perfect fit for us.
  19. If anything, Rodgers is more of a flash in the pan. Did poor jobs at Watford and Reading, Lambert hasn't failed in any of his jobs.
  20. I think it's a combination of him looking resigned (only talking about next 3 games), the statement from Randy (only mentioning 3 games) and most journos are openly talking about his position becoming untenable since Tuesday.
  21. Lambert is better than that, not a flash in the pan. Wycombe - League Cup semi (drew 1st leg 0-0 with Mourinho's Chelsea), Norwich - taken a mid table League 1 to mid table Premier in 2 years...he is proven!
  22. ^^ He's made his name (in management) in England though, so why does his Scottish nationality affect his ability?
