  1. No it ain't, we've scored more goals! Same record as Liverpool...won 1, drawn 1, scored 3, conceded 1
  2. It's 'The Premier League' - hasn't been the premiership for about 5 years!
  3. I'm fed up of football in general...apart from the top 6, the rest of us are simply there to make up the numbers now. No one can compete without huge investment (it cost Man City around half a billion to finish 3rd and win an FA Cup!!)
  4. General, Is there anyone else at the club that could take on your role on these forums? I understand you have a new job, but you haven't been on here for 2 weeks now...and we don't hear anything from Randy or Paul Faulkner either. I want to know where the club is heading. Have we now given up on the top 4 dream forever? Is Randy actively looking for Investment? Thanks
  5. I thought it was quite promising with his shot over the bar...not the shot obviously, but his positioning. He used to link up like that at Man City a fair bit, and scored a few goals in the Sven season.
  6. Great signing...he doesn't look too happy in those pics though!
  7. Very impressed with Given today...apart from one fumble early on, he looked very assured and made 2/3 top saves. The defending as a whole was superb compared to last season too.
  8. I've got to say General, if we only sign Given and N'Zogbia, having lost about 10 players since last season I will be a little disappointed. You quite clearly stated a couple of posts ago than Randy would back McLeish in the transfer market. Having raked in nearly £40m in sales and spending less than £15m in purchases, how exactly is that backing the manager? You often say "when has Randy not backed his manager", well it seems like now...
  9. Can't really argue with this. Everyone blames MON for wage bill, but Randy sanctioned the ridiculous wages on (MON's hand picked) average players.
  10. I think 1 more signing will probably be enough anyway to be honest. We have Ireland and Warnock as "new" signings, Given in goal. We've got enough defenders (unless Cuellar leaves), plenty of midfielders and enough strikers. Unless more players leave, not sure where there is to strengthen at the moment. So if we add N'Zogbia to Albrighton, then thats 2 v.good wingers too.
  11. Really pleased with this....best keeper we could have got I think (maybe Foster but too expensive)...unlucky due to Joe Hart's emergence at City (which ironically was down to his year on loan at Birmingham under McLeish)
  12. Glad this is sorted...wonder if we'll hear officially today or if they will leave it until tomorrow?
  13. I'm not saying him moving is commendable, but handing in a transfer request and forfeiting a few million £ to get what you want is. Look, we almost doubled our money on him, and his sale gives us a chance to re-build with cash we wouldn't have had otherwise. This move might work out best for everyone concerned in the long term.
  14. Did Young and Downing not pretty much do the same thing? We offered new deals to both, they both refused...the only difference is that Downing handed in a transfer request to push the move through, which I actually find quite commendable (Downing would have forfeited maybe £2m bonus by doing that)
  15. We tried to offer him a new contract, he wasn't interested (despite previously saying he would stay), what else could we do??
  16. The only reason (that I can see) that he would choose Everton over us, is if he wanted to stay in the north, not that I think Everton can afford him so doesn't really matter anyway
  17. I'm really excited by N'Zogbia replacing Downing. Downing is a very boring player, gets the ball and puts a cross in most of the time, all well and good, but very predictable. N'Zogbia can cross (maybe not as good as Downing), runs at defenders and shoots and scores some cracking goals.
  18. Does seem strange describing Given as a big name...wonder if we've got a surprise coming?! Disclaimer: Probably Not
  19. I think people forget that Hutton got his £9m move to Tottenham on the back of his form for Rangers under McLeish. If anyone knows how to get the best out of him, then McLeish does.
  20. Hi General, This isn't a direct transfer question, but can you confirm that Randy will be backing Alex McLeish in the transfer market? All we hear from the media (the media, I know), is that we have no money and McLeish won't even get to spend all of the Ashley Young money. Many thanks UTV
  21. As he hasn't done anything, he can't have done anything wrong, so an early yes from me. The next month is vital though with his transfer dealings.
  22. Also take into account that they have just signed Henderson for £20m! Henderson is someone with lots of potential but certainly not the finished article, then they insult us by saying £19m is too much for Downing...the same Downing that just got back into the England squad after having his best ever season and voted our player of the season. Maybe that should tell Downing just how much they really want him.
