  1. Why, did he bribe the voters? No, the press
  2. The ITV coverage last night covered it a lot and most people they interviewed said they had come a few times to try and vote but the queues were too long and they were just told they couldn't vote. In Hackeny they closed the booths at 9.20 because they had run out of papers
  3. I have a passport so you can't stop me voting and you can't kick me out
  4. Awww I was hoping for a drat trophy smily too
  5. Just got back and voted Labour if anyone is intersted...
  6. visit a muslim country and have your bird walk round in shorts and a boob tube and see how long it lasts bottom line is its perfectly fine for them not to allow that, same way its perfectly fine if belgium choose not to allow the burka I have never really understood the whole "We can't do X in their country so they shouldn’t be able to do Y in ours" argument. We make our laws based on what we think is right, not as a reaction to what people do in a backwards liberty denying country. Surely the point is that wherever one lives one expects residents and visitors to respect the "norms" and the "norm" in Western Europe isn't religious zealotry I would say the "norm" in Western Europe is freedom do dress how you like.

  8. We have beaten Blackburn 3 times this season, lets make it a 4th
  9. Well thats the thing really. This 6 weeks I don't really have to do anything. I've got 2 combined lecture-seminars to go to and 3 logs to write from those, each about 300 words, and 2 exams. And that's it. Work isn't a problem, theres not much to put an effort into. It's just I don't feel like doing anything. I should be making the most of the final few weeks, going out and whatnot and I don't want to, I don't feel like it. Don't even really want to leave the house. I'm already dreading the lec/sem tomorrow, thinking about sacking it off as I know I can find all I need to from it quickly online or from Blackboard. I know that feeling, the dread at the end of Uni about what is going to happen, why you have spent all these years studying and feeling like nothing makes sense for what to do next. You need to go book 6months aid work in a third world country or something. It will totally revitalise you
  10. Never sweat on company time and never shit on your own time, that's my motto 8)
  11. Well that really depends on which Muslim country you visit doesn't it?
  12. The husband of the woman who was fined in Italy was quoted as saying his wife will no longer be allowed to leave the house. That could be a downside?
  13. Some monkey on bluemoon bet anyone on the forum who would take him up £10 City would finish 4th. I have flicked through the 18 page thread and he was looking at over a grands worth of takers at a glance. What a muppet. Well done to Spurs, they have had a good season and won some important games at the end. Lets hope we finish above them next season though
  14. Yes, I'm sure you would have been disappointed had they not
  15. I agree - the thing is with it all is how they convey the message I suppose Tory supporting Frank Bruno for example - can't imagine him being a wow at political rallies. Izzard is interesting because you can see he is a very well educated man and from various things that he accomplishes and gets involved with you listen to what he has to say. Cilla Black and Jimmy Tarbuck, both declared Tory supporters on the other hand I don't think could keep the interest going for very long Gary Barlow has been used by the Tory party - what's that they used celebrities? - never strikes you as the most interesting person. A successful song writer and you can argue that he is good (or bad) in what he does. John Cleese used to do a lot for the LibDems and was always a good debater on political and social matters. So in summery: You dislike the celebrities who support the Tories, like the celebrity who supports Labour and are lukewarm to the celebrity who supports the Lib Dems? I think I possibly could have picked that
  16. The thing is, I am not so sure you would want to win this election. Whoever gets in will result in painful cuts and civil unrest by unions trying to avoid the axe falling on their workers as well as cuts in services etc etc If it is the Tories it will be the perfect excuse for the opposition to claim the 'nasty party' are back, they will not last more than a term. If it is a coalition government than they will be blamed and we will be back to where we started.
  17. I think next season we will be chasing Arsenal for the 4th spot along with Spurs, Liverpool and Everton. Man City will be challanging for the title in my opinion. Long term it wont open up unless Wenger leaves or Fergie retires and his repacement can't keep the level of success requried to make the repayments. It is not looking too good in the medium term though
  18. I think Man U is more likely actually. Even Arsenal would be more interested than City I think.
  19. It has already begun in Italy...
  20. I have heard it happens more than you would think, when relatives are long seperated they fall in love with each other when they meet again for the first time. Weird...
  21. Excellent post, Malachite. I wish some of the election parties would talk about this kind of thing, and how we need to change the way we do things. Whilst it is true that the manufacturing industry in the UK has gotten smaller over the last 50+ years I actually think the point gets over played if anything. I was surprised to read recently that the manufacturing industry in the UK is actually still the 8th biggest in the world which is pretty big for such a small country and I was not expecting given the way people complain the UK no longer makes anything. Big heavy industry has moved overseas to where costs are cheaper as expected but a lot of manufacturing bases still remain and have become more efficient and more niche.
  22. Yes, Torro Rosso is just Italian for Red Bull. Where do Red Bull make all their money? It can't just be off the one caffine drink? What other brands do they sell?
  23. Yes, I think there is a Discworld novel where Terry Pratchett says that one of the gretest curses in the Discworld is "May you live in interesting times". It doesn't bode well indeed.
  24. I'm amazed you think its wrong to be honest. Most working familys have less need of social housing tbh. They are capable of living in the private sector much more easily. Social housing is about need not want. Would you have babies living in cardboard boxes under the arches? I think you'll find that most teenage mothers tend to live at home with their mothers in the first place. But try and think about it as giving a new life, a small chance in life, a roof over its head, after all its not to blame for anything is it? I have no problem with people getting houses when they genuinely need them. And no, not all working families can afford to live in the private sector. Some live in shitholes paying the council rent of up to £50 a week, until a better house comes along. How can they have a fair chance when they are constantly being pushed back? I know this is only one example, online, but you can be rest assured that this happens across the UK. Maybe not in every case, but in a lot of cases. http://www.babyandbump.com/teen-pregnancy/318423-council-housing-s.html "Is it ok to lie and say my parents want me out of the house"? What? That is what I am talking about. People lying to get free houses. They know fine rightly if their parents don't want them there then the housing executive deems to be "homeless" and a priority, but she clearly isn't a priority. Absolutely ridiculous. How often do you think that actually happens though? Yes it sucks when people commit fraud to rip off the state but it really would be a small number in the greater scheme of things. It is not worth dismantling the whole system for the honest people because of the misdeeds of the minority. The phrase "throwing the baby out with the bath water" seems appropreate.
