  1. Quite a few of us didn't want him here in the first place, we thought he was going to be shit for us but obviously 'wished' him to do well. So for those it isn't knee jerk, simply confirmation of their original opinions 5 months ago.
  2. Article has it pretty spot on really. Get rid now. Wether he stays or goes I am still expecting relegation this season but I think we have a better chance without him, which says a lot really.
  3. Thought we were great today. Wrong result but the performance was top notch. Nice to see Marc taking his goal well and watch some of the youngster starting to break through. Good stuff all round today.
  4. I'd stick with the same team. Marc's done very well so far and Ireland has done nothing yet. Maybe bring Ireland on second half after we see how the game is going.
  5. Yam Yam comes from the way Baggies fans speak. As in You am. Yam awright yew. Dingles is a nickname that Baggies fans gave Wolves fans referring to the Dingle family off Emmerdale the telly series. Basically a family of **** ups and retards. Incidentally, Molineux also has the highest concentration of beards anywhere on the planet. Even the birds have beards (it's true).
  6. You don't have to be positive. But posting lies about what GH said in his press conference isn't helpful to the debate. lol When the video is up I'll let you apologize in your own time. After the question is asked the first word out if his mouth is 'non' which I assume is French for no.
  7. As for the not making it until after Bolton I posted in the conference thread that I actually quite liked a man who fulfilled his obligations. He has an obligation to finish up his current job and will take that obligation seriously. Says a lot about a man that.
  8. erm. I didn't say that - wrong poster. I put the bit in about how I felt about O'Neils departure to clarify my standing on that. I am however a fan and a grown up. Shit happens and then you get on with it. Yes I am wary of the board now. No it doesn't diminish my support for the new manager. In fact I posted int eh conference thread that he was a likeable bloke who seems to know where we are as a club, where he wants us to be and thought he would have a plan on getting us there. How positive do you want me to be ?
  9. I don't have any agenda that I am trying to push. I simply heard what he said. He was asked about new signings in January and he said no, then went on to say he didn't particularly like signing players in January and then qualified it by saying that of course players may leave in which case they would need to be replaced. Not sure how I hear that how I want ? I heard it as it was said. I have said in the past - I said it once and then stopped posting until our new manager was anoounced - the board were as much, probably more at fault for the timing of O'Neils departure by putting him in an untenable position. They also have pulled the rug from under us with lack of investment that was promised to the fans. Having said that, it is my club, been my club far longer than Lerner so I will fully support the new manager and the team as I always have.
  10. I actually like the fact that he is prepared to honour his existing commitments. Tells you a bit about a man that.
  11. Nope, sorry, not imagining it. He gave the distinct impression that there would be no signings in January. He went on to say players may leave thus others may come in which to me pretty much backs up the fact that he is also on a sell to buy remit. (Unless ofc you sell someone for loads and loads of dosh. Then it's just sell)
  12. Of course I will support the new manager whoever he may be. I wasn't really much of a fan of O'Neil until he joined us. I used to hate his old Leicester team and Heskey in particlar, but they joined Villa and I backed him. I think O'Neil did a good job in turning us around as a team, no fan of his management or play style though. I want the best for the club and if we appoint the likes of Bradley then we will have stepped back 5 years and I will have to adjust my expectations accordingly. I am just disappointed that the wheels are coming off the Villa wagon so soon and all we have to look forward to is dreary meaningless end of year fixtures with nothing to go for. I will still be there though cheering the boys on as ever.
  13. If Bradley is going for the job I might stick my CV in too. I managed a team in the Tamworth junior league for a few years and we have exactly the same amount of experience managing in the Prem. I'm not a big Sven fan but would take him all ways over the yank nobody.
  14. Mmm the coach of such footballing giants as Ohio University and Chicago Fire. I mean just having anything to do with a team called 'Fire' is enough for me to dismiss him as a no mark. If we employ this chancer then it tells a story of how we will go forward as a 'do it on the cheap' side. He would be brought in as a simple yes man. May as well stick with MacDonald.
  15. I've liked Jimmy Milner since he came to us on loan but I don't think anyone expected him to be as succesful as last season. I really think Martin saw something and truly got the best out of him and that looks like it *might just pay dividends. Martin likes hard grafters and I think hard grafters like Milner will always come to the fore under his management. I'm not convinced Milner would have looked so great under Appy Arry at Spurs. Of course there is no way of knowing though.
  16. I agree with your assessment too Pilchard. Spot on really.
  17. I am intrigued to know how replacing the manager would secure an improvement over 6th place and who this mystical manager may be. So, given that any new manager would have to sell players to raise funds ; - Which manager do you think we could realistically expect to join us who would be an improvement over Martin ? - What would they do differently to Martin to sell those players that we currently are struggling to sell ? - How, given that the exact same issues facing Martin would face any new manager, would they improve on 6th place this season ? Oh and incidentally where would you expect this mythical manager to place us this season - 1,2,3,4 or 5th and who then would we be overtaking ? Man U, Spurs, City, Chelsea or Arsenal. Given that to improve we would automatically have to finish above Liverpool and Everton as we did last season.
  18. Oops I'll bow out now - I did say I hadn't read the topic through properly. I reckon I am on the wrong end of a stick. As you were - nothing to see here.
  19. However he couldn't play that team could he ? Barry wanted to leave - left = HAD TO REPLACE Laursen he played until he had to retire through uinjury = HAD TO REPLACE Mellberg wanted to leave - left = HAD TO REPLACE Cahill - MISTAKE imo. Ridgewell - Shit imo Gabby - STILL PLAYS REGULARLY Davis - Shit imo. Didn't exactly set Fulham alight. Plays in a Mickey Mouse League now. Delaney - Retired through injury = HAD TO REPLACE Sorensen - Shit imo Bouma he played until crocked = HAD TO REPLACE Berger - Shit by that time and at the end of his career - HAD TO REPLACE Baros - Shit for us. (You wouldn't have swapped for Carew ??) Out of that lot then I reckon the only mistake he made was gettign rid of Cahill but that topics bin Dunne a million times. He replaced over time mostly because he had to 100% replace the player at that particular point in time.
  20. Apologies for replying without having read the entire thread but I am at work so time is tight. I voted that he is absolutely the right man for the job. He has progressed us each season he has been in charge. It may be slow progression after the initial jump up the table but anyone expecting large jumps once your in the top six would in my mind be too optimistic. We are competative with the likes of Arsenal, Liverpool, Tottenham, Man City, Everton. I am content. Doesn't do everything exactly to my preference but then again neither does the Mrs and I married her. Given his record with us so far I think anyone shouting for him to go has a serious case of grass is greener. In a slight Irish accent while adjusting glasses - "I think he suits Villa at this moment in time very well indeed."
  21. He will go with his strongest XI at that time. why wouldn't he ? I'm not sure Milner will get boo'd. I personally don't think he has done much wrong. It's a shit storm blown up by the media and if we boo our own players in the opening game we are effectively helping our opposition to get a result. I will be very disappointed in our fans if we boo a player that looks set to play an entire season for us. The time to boo a leaving player is when they are actually in a different shirt.
  22. Sell him now for £20-25 Millions, let him sit on the bench watching better players win things and then buy him back for less than half that next summer. I loved Milners attitude and perseverance but he wasn't exactly the best player I've ever seen, not even the best player in a Villa shirt I've ever seen. I would much rather it be Milner than Ash or Gabby. As most have said I think Milner is replaceable, just as Barry was proved to be.
  23. Will probably pick up the home kit. I quite like the chequered effect. Would have been the Away as I love the black kit with the electric blue trim but that red writing is **** rank and ruins the entire thing. Should have been the same blue as the trim. No comment on the goaly kit.
  24. I think 2. I think Milner will stay for another season as City will baulk at our price. McGeady & Keane for me, although I'm not a fan of either. I think we will make more use of the up and coming talent such as Delfouneso and Albrighton, which is a good thing imo. Anything other than that would depend upon who we can get shut of and will be on a 1 out, 1 in like for like replacement. Not including any kids we may pick up for the academy.
  25. I read that. Using stats like that doesn't really have any meaning at all. Zamora could get better stats than say Torres, doesn't make him a better player though. I read it and just dismissed it as a Wolves fan desperately seeking something to hold on to. Will be a tough game tomorrow. I went to the away game and I thought they had the better of the game there tbh. I think they will be tough to beat and play decent football. They have actually got better since (bro-in-law is a Wolves fan so I watch a lot) and played some really good football, often being better than their opposition. Can't score though and struggle to keep focussed for the entire game, hence their position. If Gabby is fully fit and plays and we keep it on the deck then I would bet on 1-0 Villa, if Carew and Heskey and we lump it then I would expect a draw. I will be there with the Bro-in-Law so a win would be doubly sweet. Up The Villa!
