  1. Not just the best. He's the only one who has come through the academy who is worth remotely getting excited about. brilliant player but I didn't actually see him play for our youth team, Grealish is the best I've seen by quite some distance as well
  2. I think he's been excellent so far, keep it up
  3. Not just the best. He's the only one who has come through the academy who is worth remotely getting excited about. Far from it, we've got a very good, young group at the minute, why do you always pick on my posts? The only times I see your name pop up on this forum is when you're criticising/mimicking one of my posts Well you're wrong on that front. There's loads of posts I put that have nothing to do with you. But like I've just said to HanoiVillan, being decent in the under 19s isn't worth getting excited about. Michael Owen, Wayne Rooney. Making an impact at 16/17 on the premiership. That's worth getting excited about. Rushian Hepburn-Murphy made his first team debut last season aged 16, Andre Green made the first team bench last season also at the age of 16, these are players that we should be getting excited about

  5. He's had a decent 20 mins, I don't think we need to worry about Real Madrid tabling an offer yet! Haha I'll take your word for it!
  6. Van Aanholt is no slouch, it'll be a good battle between those two
  7. I think he's our best player already, we'll struggle to keep hold of him to be honest, fabulous young player, he's the best I've seen come through the academy
  8. Agreed, with the money we spent on those 2, we could've got Austin
  9. If that's the case then I worry for our pl status, our need for a striker is so obvious, we can't let a £32.5m striker leave the club and not replace like for like
  10. Agreed but I think it spells out our need for a striker more than anything
  11. Austin is the one for me, he's a poacher, we can't let a £32.5m striker leave the football club and not replace him, it's suicide
  12. sounds great, is he that good that we'll struggle to keep hold of him? I didn't see the game today so can't really comment
  13. Where have I read that before? you always have to knitpick my posts, don't you? whenever i see one of your posts, I can almost guarantee that you'll be quoting one of my posts, it is a very good bunch in my opinion, 2 of the group have already featured for the first team or been in the squad Right but all I'm saying is that you've been saying similar for 5/6 years since I came on here, regarding the youth team. Very little worthwhile has materialised. It's ok to have your opinion. In a way it's admirable because it's bold but if you sit back and really think about villas ability to transfer youth to the first team with any great effect, then I don't think you'd be as optimistic. I mean, it is of course possible that the next generation will be better than the last, and past experience may not be a perfect predictor of the future . . . Yep, but tbh, past experience with Football is usually a decent indicator. Not overly, IMO. Agreed, that's what i love about it most, the unpredictability of it, you can never predict what's going to happen
  14. is he playing in the middle? I think that's where he's most effective

I never lose hope, nothing give me more of a buzz than seeing a young player come through the academy and make it in the first team, I know it's extremely rare but Grealish has done fantastically, Clark is now a very good premier league defender, I first saw him in a youth cup game in 2006, he was 17 and was outstanding, I was only 15 at the time but I could tell that we had a good player on our hands there, we have numerous players from our academy that have made careers for themselves in the lower leagues also, the academy is still producing in my opinion
  16. what has he said exactly? I'd take him, I thought we should've signed him when he left Manchester City

  18. good luck to him, I'd love to see him make it at this football club as I do with all young players, it's not too late for him
  19. that's what i meant, there is no harm in playing kids in cup competitions imo, when else are they going to play?
  20. He's 18 in January, he could play in the cup competitions, we've got a very good young group at the minute, quite possibly the best we've ever had
  21. what paper was that in? I don't think we need a centre half, I think we've got enough in this position, if Lescott comes in, that's the end of Baker i think
  22. I don't understand this response, I'm very happy that one of our key players has signed a new long term contract with us, very good signing by Lambert
  23. why not? who else could we get? I'm struggling to think of names who would come to us
  24. Out of interest SGC who else are you thinking of? Guess we have Traore now, plus Calder impressed me in pre-season, who are the other stand outs? 16 year old striker Rushian Hepburn-Murphy who made his debut for the first team last season, I'm looking forward to seeing how he progresses this season, 17 year old winger Andre Green who made the bench for the first team last season also and 17 year old centre back Easah Suliman who could make his debut this season, it's a very good group
  25. we need a striker desperately in my opinion, we just don't carry enough of a goal threat in our current squad, we can't let a £32.5m striker leave the club and not replace him, Austin fits the bill for me, he's a finisher
