  1. as dunney said its better to show someone a winners medal than a print out of a league table...
  2. 4-2 villa with another magical 10 minute spell...this time i think defeners may score some goals for us. collins to get on score sheet.
  3. well beating chelski, man utd and liverpool has been brilliant. the cup final was disappointing to lose after coming so close but shows an improvement on last season. hwever my main marker will be to actually finish the seaosn in mya not March - we need to push on this month and show we have longevity - i will be very peased if we compete fully to the final kick a win on sunday would help as well)
  4. a toughie as the luck is with them in this comp but i think there is still enough good feeling in VP so gonna go for us to win away from home but it will be a rollercoaster game with the delpf bros. ltd coming to the fore....
  5. i just think he will no more than that - turmoil at city is probably likely he'll want somestability and liverpool were admirers and can prob offer him that, as well as a better chance of silverware...just a gut feeling thats all! nothing more than that.
  6. guzan seems to have lost his early season confidence - he never leaves is line - and it worries the defenders. he needs to get over this mental hurdle and im sure he'll grow next season. gabby played well - he strecthed their defence. extremely well in the 2nd half. carew did nothing until the last ten minutes. he is such an enigma - i dont know if heskey would have won or those two penalties - id dubt he would have been able to despatch them but he does work harder...hmm. carew i really like him but he is so hard to evaluate! thought young, dunne, warnock and milner all played well again.
  7. is albrighton still injured or is he ok now - i would deffo play him and prob keep downing in too and rest milner and petrov along with gabby and prb warnock
  8. carews a loose cannon awesome one day, atrocious the next. he is reminscent of a certain dalian atkinson in that respect! i'd keep him as he likes it here and is a danger. i do not think carlton cole is the answer!
  9. all i could hear was the paul mcgrath song! well done away supporters!
  10. mellberg was rather good with his beard but mcgrath is the stuff of legend... even sheffield united fans think so and he only played about 10 games for them at the very end of his career! http://boards.footymad.net/forum.php?tno=463&fid=221&sty=2&act=1&mid=2123306080
  11. think we got the best two defenders available this summer! everton look like they'll have a bit of a mixed season - at least we are drawing games that we would have lost last season. still like everton and hope they have a good season - bolton is a pretty difficult ground to go to still esp without some key players! bit am relvied we got dunne and collins!
  12. how did warnock play - as no one has commented im guessing he was quietly effective just as a full back should be - cant believe how many clean sheets we have had!
  13. i cant believge NRC, aggy and albrighton were not brought on after 70 mins...it is so frustrating - without young, milner we wouldhave struggled last night. petrov looks good at times but sometimes we are too slow in gettign the balls moved wide and to the middle - need to stop dawdling. need NRC in that middle delph looks very promising but just cannot impose himself for 90mins yet - but may work out for the ebst to be knocked out even though i was shouting at the tv for the last 20 mins!
  14. 3 - warnock, campbell (providing we dont lose out to Notts County!) and a surprise big signing (may be not VDV but someone a bit left of field and of note (a bit like carew was))
  15. carew he galvanates the team, the fans everyone. nrc or petrov otherwise wd also say young/bouma otherwise
  16. we never beat wigan at home though this is such a bogey fixture - hopefully it'll give them all a kick to start the season properly next week. dont think we sould get too worried just yet. there are 37 games left.
  17. i expect (if heskey is suspended and petrov unfit) friedel young - cuellar - davies - shorey young - NRC - Sidwell - Milner Carew - Aggy think he'll pick something like this however he could throw beye at RB and move Luke across to LB. Don't think he'll play Delph but will be pleased if proved wrong! Obviously if Petrov available swap for sidders and heskey would be on the bench/maybe starting is a toughie! Aggy normally causes them problems though.
  18. No. they will have a difficult job re-grouping. Only if they somehow find an excellent manager who can bind them will they have a chance. My monies on West Brom, Ipswich and possibly Preston/Boro. I dont think Shearer will be able to save them. They need to sell lots of players, do not have a great set of youth players coming through and will have to buy a squad of players with good champ experience to get anywhere near the top. I would be very surprised if they were in the top 4 of that division, although would not rule out them making the play offs if in a good position come Feb next year.
  19. Life is beautiful is amazing If want something stupid Private Wars is the best "poundland" film i've seen! If into japanese cinema throne of blood by kurosawa is a must (Macbeth but in Japan - scary!)
  20. barry although both are good players - barry has had a consistent season that hasnt quite reached the heights of the previous two but he's one of the premierleague's best midfielders. petrov is good but Barry is better further up the field, albeit not really an attacking midfielder.
  21. 100% yes - O'Neill is brilliant - we've had a blip and we are still 5th. this was going to happen.I don't evn know why we have this thread! good things take time, we are on course and must remain patient, o'neill is a good man, who is intelligent, listens to people and not afraid to exert his authority. we are not quite as god as man utd or lpoo, yet but we are close, despite recent results....
