  1. Your missing the point that Luiz hasn’t developed a hard edge to his game as a DM. Against some teams you need to have that in your locker.
  2. I didn’t say he doesn’t play the position well, that he’s just not a natural DM. He’s developed his game in the position over the past 12 months, but he would prefer to play further up the pitch. It’s also not to say he won’t develop into a world class DM over the next few years. The one thing I believe he lacks at the moment is the physicality against certain teams. A Jedinak in his prime would of put some of those Burnley players on their backsides.
  3. Luiz has been one of the best players all season, but he has been off his game a little since the COV19 outbreak. He’s not a natural DM, he’s better playing a bit more forward, but a lot of good teams don’t use natural DM’s, they prefer a deep lying playmaker who can break teams up, but keep the trains running, which Luiz does very well. He’s still only 22 and his best years in front of him, he will have the off game occasionally.
  4. We play as a team and the team is to blame for today’s defeat.
  5. The only people to blame are the players themselves. Didn’t take their opportunity to close out the game and allowed two poor goals to let Burnley back in. There’s been glimpses of it all season, people have just chooses to ignore it. The last few days fans have been talking about Top 4 and the next level, well, we have a long way to go before that talk can be justified.
  6. Yes, I have. He was first rumoured back in December 2019. Some of us actually watch more than the PL.
  7. Yes, I have. He was first rumoured back in December 2019. And anyone who did any research, like say the many threads on this site and others, about who would you like to see Villa sign? Will see me repeatedly having put Sanson’s name up!
  8. Welcome Morgan, been wanting this signing for past 12 months, he’s going to bring us another dimension in the midfield.
  9. Personally believe we need 9 points to be in the top 4 hunt.
  10. I have no fear of Smith taking the England job. Any quality coach has their own personal goals they want to achieve and coaching the national team is for those coaches who have achieved their goals or can't get a better job. Yes, I said it. As I've said many times, Smith isn't the finished article as a manager, he is still developing and it will come with experience. He's smart enough to put good people around him to challenge him and give alternative views, which breeds better decision making. We've also seen that when he is able to get better players into the squad, the team improves. Things aren't going to get any easier, the team will continue to need to improve and more talented players brought in. If we are to get close to a Top 4 we need to be winning against teams like Burnley away and we need to beating Tottenham and Everton.
  11. There’s a lot of practical things the club could do to reduce its footprint and still be at the bottom of the list. Yes one company was engaged to measure their criteria, but it’s also an industry were you could get two other companies with different criteria and get another set of outcomes. It’s easy for others to say you must have X footprint, but there the ones who don’t have to spend the money to achieve X. It’s a football club, not a coal mine and I have every confidence the club are making the best decisions for the football club and the community to be green.
  12. Suggests some don't acknowledge the important role he plays and how simple he makes it look. The contrast in peoples opinions on here is astounding, on one hand worried Man City will resign him, but then not in the Top 4-5 players in the club. For me, he's number 2 just behind Jack.
  13. Thought he did well, just shows the difference with him and others when the team is playing well and playing with confidence.
  14. Think we got into second gear in the first half, then dropped back to first in the second. Solid performance like a training run. Newcastle just awful at the moment.
  15. Very happy to see Sanson joining the club. Been hoping since rumours surfaced we were interested in him a bit over 12 months ago, that we would make this signing. As some one who watches a lot of Europe/ CL football, seen enough of him to like him as a player and thought he was good in a losing team in the final of the 2018 Europa League to a v.good Ath.Madrid team. He not only upgrades the squad, but brings something different to the team. Welcome Sanson.
  16. Yep, but you look at the way these rules are being written and it’s all grey and suited to the situation at the moment. That way if the refs stuff up, there’s enough wiggle room ro back the poor decision on the field. We all played football from when we were young and that was never anything other than offside, 10 years ago you probably received a yellow card for Being cynical.
  17. You have to test the water and see how desperate they are to sell. May be derogatory, but...
  18. Two things can happen, either they will change the interpretation of the rule immediately or some one will do it to Manure and then they’ll change the rule. Nothing to see here...
  19. It could be anything ie travelling in the bus to a game, it can be picked up from surfaces not cleaned properly etc, doubt we’ll ever know the source.
  20. Best of luck to him. Sometimes, unfortunately you fin your ceiling as a sportsperson and he couldn’t continue to grow with this team. He wasn’t the first and won’t be the last.
  21. For the squad to evolve we don’t need to bring in squad players, but quality players who suit our style of play but offer something different to what we have. It should be about which player suits the opposition we are playing and Sanson would give us more options in the midfield. Hope there’s some substance to these rumours.
  22. Some people jump into coaching believing that have their philosophy set and will learn from their mistakes in the job. Others take another route and learn from experiences and watching or being part of others making decisions. Terry is doing it the right way, he’s learning how to be a head coach/ manager and will be able to make better decisions and have a stronger more developed philosophy should he make the big step to management. If Villa keep on improving to CL in the next couple of seasons, it would of been a great learning curve for Terry to be part of taking a club from the Championship to one of the better teams in Europe. Great for a CV.
  23. We’ve been linked with Sanson for a while, hope the rumours are true this time.. Very good player, we’ve needed another box to box player and definitely an upgrade to the midfield.
  24. People seem to forget his background and that he was on a steep learning curve. He was nowhere near the finished article, he was not the right signing for the money to lead a front line in the PL. IMO he was maybe 60% of the finished article, who knows how he will recover from the injury, but if he is able to realize his potential, he will prove a lot of people wrong again.
  25. Disagree. You don’t know how much the poor quality of service affected his game, no PL experience etc etc, as it did many other players last season who have shown with time that they deserve to be Villa players this season. Wesley showed flashes of a quality player in a poor team just as much as Luiz.
