  1. That's what I was thinking. I thought our interest in him was as a replacement for Young, but now I'm hearing he would replace Downing. Worrying days at the Villa.
  2. Well he's got the job so let's just back him. We're Villa fans first and foremost, and we back the team and manager.
  3. If Hughes is the best Lerner can come up with we can forget about ever challenging for a CL place. What a thoroughly uninspiring appointment.
  4. Fantastic stats for Bent considering he's never played for a top 4 club.
  5. The game is now sold out. Our first sell out of the season, sadly.
  6. I'd say it was more to do with O'Neill walking out. Milner wasn't that good. A fine player, but I didn't like the way he moved from the club. A bit too snide for me.
  7. But we can't afford to give him every chance to recover. That sounds harsh, but we can't let him recuperate at home and let Villa fall further backwards. We have to make an immediate decision when the season ends. he's either fit for work or he HAS TO LEAVE. There should be no sentiment in this decision else we face another nightmare next season. We should break the bank for Moyes. I agree definitely but will randy be that ruthless? Time will tell i guess. Well he's been here 5 years now. If he hasn't toughened up by now he never will. Houllier's a decent man though. If he feels like he can't continue I think he'll resign right after the season ends. leaving Villa free to get a new man in.

  9. Why wouldn't he? Villa and Everton are similar in size, but they're skint with old crumbling stadium with not even as much as a hint of any new investment. Perhaps after all these years he feels like a new challenge? We're Aston Villa, not Crewe Alexandra you know. We need to be ambitious. we are aston villa your right mate,we have a few quid & a great stadium,a few good players.. however..we struggle to sell out (fact),their alot more wrong that right at villa at this present time,if i was moyes i would stick around at a skint club untill sir alex leaves The attendance thing is irrelevant. More fans turn up when the team is doing better. It's the way it's always been at Villa Park. It would be no different under Moyles. Our attendances are usually better than Everton's anyway. is that down to villa park having more seats? No. It's down to having more fans.

I also explained my own personal views on why not as well. And we're hardly a fountain of opportunity right now are we? i agree..if i was moyes i would stay well away from villa..out side of the midlands i dont think aston villa are regarded as a big club. Yeah right.

One bad season doesn't make for the end of the world you know.

  14. I can't argue with that. I think he was a bit naive, but hopefully he's learned his lesson.
  15. You can come up with all the rumours or inside gossip you like, its an absolute joke to describe us as a sinking ship after our best season in years. I never said last season was a sinking ship I said he was leaving a sinking ship and guess what we've sunk. I'm no fan of O'Neill, but if he was allowed t invest in the team last summer I'm pretty sure we'd be in the top 6 this season. Yes he fecked us over with his antics, but the proof is in the pudding - 3 consecutive top 6 finishes. I really don't think we'd be struggling this term if he was in charge. You'd have to be seriously deluded to think otherwise. He was offered funds but was told any new player wages would be from the sales of Sidwell, Carew et al - which he didn't like, so he walked. It's not all his fault anyway but for his managerial career he probably did the right thing at the time Yes I know all that. but that wasn't my point. There is no way we'd be struggling like we are now if O'Neill was in charge. Last summer was like a Mexican stand off between O'Neill and Lerner but it was the club who lost out. Incidentally I think Lerner is as much to blame for this season as O'Neill. You have to invest just to stand still, let alone improve. Hopefully Lerner's learned his lesson.

  17. He was joking. i wasn't though, he'd certainly be an improvement on gh Yes, what with Sunderland having such a marvelous season and all that. :? he's a good man manager and has acquired excellent players for a club like sunderland, they were 6th a few weeks ago He's a shit manager who plays shit football. If he stays long enough at any club he gets found out, just like he's been found out now at Sunderland. And what does it matter what position he was in a few weeks ago? He's even managed to be below us this season with all our problems! He's a disaster!

  19. Can't believe there's a Villa fan out there who is talking up Steve Bruce for the Villa job. What an absolute joke.
  20. 23,000 there. A fair few Bolton included in that as well. It's an FA Cup quarter final for god sake. Big club eh!
  21. By the way General I've been a season ticket holder for 30+ years but tonight was the final straw. I will be renewing next season after tonight's disgrace. The FA Cup means the world to Villa fans and our manager has just treated it as if it was a pre season friendly. An utter utter disgrace.
  22. Hi General, could just please pass on my thanks to Mr Houllier for the abject surrender of the FA Cup before a ball was even kicked tonight. Oh and thanks for everything this season. It's been an unmitigated disaster since day one. Yours truly, one seriously pissed off Villa fan.
