  1. Don't worry, I'll take it off your hands :winkold:
  2. I think Gabby's our only striker capable of playing up front by himself, Heskey has the workrate but not the ability where Carew has the Ability but not the workrate. We should get some scientists to mix their genes and end up with someone of Carew's ability and Heskey's workrate. Imagine ending up with Heskey's ability and and Carew's workrate though. It'd be like having Ade Akinbiyi in the team.
  3. I literally laughed out loud at that article. Journalist "So Fabio, who will replace Ashley Cole at the World Cup? Steven Warnock? Wayne Bridge? Leighton Baines or Joleon Lescott perhaps?" Fabio: "No I have decided to take Liam Ridgewell" Journalist: "The failed centre back, who's filling in at left back as there's no-one else who can play there?" Fabio: "Yes" That really would be a Steve McLaren esque choice.
  4. People have been crying out for 4-5-1 (including me at times) as it seems to work, but only against the big teams, when you only switch to 4-5-1 when it's lower league opposition it's absolutely baffling. I know Gabby was out but we still had 2 international strikers and a very promising youngster. Glad we're still in it, and pretty confident we'll win the replay even if we do rest a few players for the cup final. Oh, and Alan Lee's a dirty bastard isn't he? Saw him play a few times for Ipswich and don't remember him swinging elbows around like he was today. At least it means I might make it to a Villa match that week having missed out on Wembley tickets...
  5. Stewart Ripley (maybe Stuart) wasn't exactly great but sure there must be some worse.
  6. I think (Raymond?) Van Der Gouw and Jonathon Greening have champions league winning medals from that. Not to mention Djimi Traore (though he might actaully have played). Seeing as it's the winter olympics here's a couple on that subject: Only two countries south of the equator have ever won medals at the Olympic Winter Games—Australia and New Zealand. The oldest man to receive a Winter Olympics medal is 83-year-old Anders Haugen. The Norwegian-American actually received his ski jump bronze medal 50 years after he competed in 1924 when a scoring error was discovered in 1974.
  7. What a finish that was. Complete self destruction from Scotland but still a fantastic finish.
  8. He's got a life outside posting on opposition teams forums you know. Oh wait...
  9. Non-football? An illegal payment from the chairman of a football club to the manger of said football club? Really?
  10. Thanks General, good to hear. It'd be good to hear the outcome of any such investigation if you actually ever hear back from them.
  11. Gained a point on Liverpool and Spurs, we'd have taken that at the start of the night. Could have done better, but still could have screwed it up if not for Brad.
  12. Is anyone managing to watch it rather than just listening? Should that have been a penalty?
  13. Is Scholes playing? Him and Delph going in for a challenge together might be like the hadron collider.
  14. my wife has my old I-phone and uses a pay as you go sim on it ... obviously you don't get any data unless you buy a Bolt-On (or use Wi-Fi) Many thanks. Have seen the top iphone model on Ebay for around the £450 mark. Would that be a good deal or would it be better to get one free on contract? I'm wondering this too. The main reason I don't want to be tied into a contract is because I'm thinking of travelling in the summer (from about May/June sort of time) so doesn't make sense to be tied into a long contract. So it's whether to get one now on payg or wait until I'm back and get one on contract...
  15. Hi General, hope you're recovery is still progressing well, sorry to hear you can't make it to Wembley, looks like I can't make it either unfortunately due to not being well enough to make enough games this season. Anyway I'm just wondering if the club or the Football League (I believe they run this competition) are looking at taking action against websites like this who are openly selling tickets in the Villa section for about £350 each. This is far from being the only website selling these as a quick search will show you. Now as far as I'm aware selling tickets above the price shown on the ticket is illegal in this country yet they're being openly advertised on the internet to rip off genuine fans like myself who can't get tickets any other way. Surely there should be some sort of investigation into how tickets allocated to our fans end up in the hands of touts to make money out of them rather than genuine fans like myself. Just to be clear these are NOT corporate tickets, they are ones in the Villa section (so £35-80 face value). Now I won't be able to make the final because of being too ill to attend enough games this season so not having booking history in excess of four home games(though ironically I would be well enough to make the final, but still) . And that's fine if the tickets were going to genuine fans who'd been to more games or whatever, but they're not, they're ending up with touts and ending up with those who've got the most money, which seems massively unfair. As you'll notice on that site the tickets for the Man Utd end are about half the price of those in the Villa end, because the touts know how many Villa fans will be desperate for a ticket so are trying to rip us off as much as possible. While I know these tickets will never end up back in the hands of fans who actually deserve it, surely some action can be taken by the police or someone (trading standards maybe) against these websites as they're advertising services which seem to me to be against the law.
  16. Using the amount of people who believe is a bit ridiculous imo. Otherwise surely the different religions wouldn't be clustered in different areas of the world. So many people believe it because that's what they're brought up to believe. It's amazing that no children brought up by Christian parents believe in other gods, they believe in the one that their parents told them to believe in (this might change when they get older but they believe in what they're told is fact rather than opinion). edit: It would be interesting to do a study to see how many children brought up with no religion (not by militant atheists either, just where religion isn't seen as an issue at all) end up 'believing' in a religion having been left with a totally free choice about which religion to be part of (if any). I expect most would end up not part of any religion.
  17. I deliberately used the phrase 'a god' in the title of the thread rather than 'God' and again in my post so it wasn't specific. It's any god you choose to believe in (I guess it doesn't matter which god we're talking about if someone doesn't believe in any).
  18. Now I don't want too much discussion on here really as it will only end up in petty arguments and it's not like everyone's going to end up in agreement. So I just want your opinion, not your view of anyone else's. The reason I've brought this up is I was talking to an atheist the other day who said that no matter what evidence was provided she would never believe in a god. This to me seems massively small minded. Now I'm an atheist, but I've not 100% ruled out there being a god, 99%, if not more, but not 100%, how can you be. And the same if you're religious (of whatever 'branch'), even if you were shown evidence that there wasn't a god would you change your opinion. I'm just baffled how anyone can be absolutely certain either way and be unwilling to change their opinion if new evidence came to light (whatever that may be). Like I say give your opinion but don't start arguing about it or this will soon be shut down. edit: And we all know Paul McGrath exists. I'm talking about other gods. edit2: I assume I meant 'any kind' rather than anytime
  19. Still only 1 substitution in total which seems surprising (well not that MON makes many subs but you'd have thought they would).
  20. Unfortunately this. Ever since that brilliant performance against Bolton where he tore them apart he's barely even been average. And after that game a lot of people said this would happen. On his day he's absolutely unplayable but it's so so rare, we really need a new striker in the summer. Maybe Bent if Sunderland go down, which isn't looking too unlikely at the moment.
  21. Some poor deliveries from set pieces from us today.
