  1. Sad thing is that two is about half what is required to make this a decent transfer window.
  2. Exactly. We might as well close the match threads because you might as well wait for the final whistle instead of discussing what might happen. If match threads start having comments in like FFS how did we lose that 10 - 0 before the game has been played. Absolutely, close the thread. What people get frustrated about is when people with downbeat/negative opinions are speaking as a matter of fact, when actually the window hasn't closed hence the 'moan after the window closes' comments. The 10-0 before the match has started is a poor analogy, more like 2-0 with 10 mins to go in this transfer window .
  3. It would be scandalous from the club if we end up with 2 out and 2 in from the position we are in at the moment.
  4. We need five. LB, CB, DM, winger and CF and all of those need to be good enough to go right into the first team. Yea I know iwas putting down 4 as the bare minimum.
  5. If the board show the fans they are willing to back Lambert the fans will fall in line. this hasn't happened yet.
  6. If this is true we need at least 4 players in over the next 8 days. Busy times. I just don't see us signing that many.
  7. Given kept us in the league last season. I strongly Disagree. He was certainly an improvement on Friedels last season with us.
  8. Is anyone really expecting £50M ? Personally i think our budget is more likely to be around £20M, but i still don't know if Lambert would spend all of that, he wouldn't have had anything like the budget he's got here at Norwich, so i suppose he'll have been scouting players in the lower leagues and cheaper foreign players ....which as it happens seems to be what he's signing. For years we've been moaning about getting ripped of for players with Premier League experience, and then getting stung on their wages, now we seem to have a manager who is prepared to look further afield, people are still moaning because we have't spent enough. Newcastle proved last year that there are bargains to be had, and yo don't need to spend £50M to become competitive, maybe Lambert has already or will unearth some gems. The transfer budget is insignificant (Torres £40M, or Carrol £35M anyone ?), the significant thing is the capability of the manager and his staff to bring in the right players. I'm not suggesting for one second we have £50m to spend, we all know we don't but what I'm saying is if a manager is given a budget by the boards that they have told him is perfectly ok to spend, why would he not spend it? When it is very obvious to everyone that we do need additions. Arsene Wenger has seemingly refused to spend big on players for years. But has he had the budget to do so? I doubt it.

  10. That had actually crossed my mind too CI but none of us know what our transfer budget is? We will know by the end of this window whether Lambert is working with both arms behind his back or we'll have Carroll (loan), Adam Johnson and Clint the Eastwood Dempsey in a Villa shirt with possibility Gabby going to Sunderland instead of Fletcher. Not looking much am I ? Actually, we won't know that. We'll never know how much Lambert has been given to spend, or under what conditions. At the end of the transfer window we'll only know how much has been spent, and there are many reasons why that might not be the actual budget. It may not be the actual budget but it would be a very good indication, it is highly unlikely that Lambert would be handed £50m to spend and he only spends £8-10m.
  11. I hope that Lambert isn't thinking of putting Gabby on the wing this season, haven't we suffered enough?
  12. Surely we got the price of creswells wages from getting rid of Makoun?
  13. Team still looks distinctly average, we need a fullback a striker a winger and a CM . Delphi should not be near a premier league side at the moment.
  14. What's your logic? We have already been linked with bennett and now Friend could be bennetts replacement. We shall see Middlesbro' sign a player from Doncaster to replace someone who plays for Ipswich? :? You do realise Bennett is a Middlesbrough player? It's Creswell who plays for Ipswich .
  15. In a word, no. I have 5kids who go to school/nursery and have never gotten sick from them.
  16. That's a very big assumption you've made there. Yea sorry I put that the wrong way. But we will have to shift an awful lot of 'deadwood' to be able to afford Carrolls wages.
  17. If we are struggling to come up with €4m for Vlaar I'm fairly sure this can be ruled out , right?
  18. What do you think realistically could have been achieved, who do you think would have managed it, and would they have come to us in the position we were in? I think under a better manager we could've got top 4 (staying there is another matter) and at the very least won a trophy with the money that was spent. Can you name the manager? One that would have come to villa at the time MON did? How am I supposed to know which managers would have come to Villa at that time and which wouldn't? I'm not a mind reader. Can you name a fairly realistic target that would have got us top 4 even?
  19. Hopefully this is because Vlaar was plan B and plan A can be acquired. If it is because of a sell to buy policy we are in for another tough season.
