  1. At first I thought this was a stupid poll but it just reinforces the fact that Marty is the clubs man for the job. I would have voted no if Sir Alex was demanding to be Villa manager but meh, we have the next best thing and I am so glad everyone is thankful for it.
  2. No, support the Midlands team and I have no reason to hate them unlike the Blues. I hope we can one day play with all the current championship Midlands in the Premiership even the Blues (fighting relegation). Plus thank you for Davies!
  3. I personally have not, only because I love football. Have I lost the feeling of panic when there is 2mins to go and we need a goal or two? Yes For me I am just as passionate but now more realistic, I love watching England play and I love the hype I just feel while the wrong players are involved, and they surely are to an extent, then losses are not something I care deeply about, they are just part of the slide into mediocrity that has bee plaguing us for years.
  4. 8 for me too, great window but not complete. Looks like Man City are going to build and Everton drop some points. Quite a few team strengthened and we did enough to move into a new gear. I think we have put ourselves in contention but due to other signing around the country could find ourselves slipping somewhat without a fuller squad. I feel we needed some more wing cover, unless we do not use wingers exclusively of course, some cover at the back and most certainly a striker, however we do not know how much the youth are going to step up (fair play to Everton playing the kids, even if they had no choice). We did well, added to the team and the squad looks more uniform. We want players to gel quickly and 4months will fly by until the next window so hopefully we shall see some positive scouting and strong squad assessment from the coaches in order to prepare us for January. All in all I am very happy, a few players could/should have come our way to beat off the chasing pack but I feel we have made positive and important steps to achieving and with the squad size plenty of headroom for the right type of improvement.
  5. Petrov for me too. Just seemed last season we had a working formula and most of it relied upon the hard work of NRC and the passing of Barry. Petrov was good but I see him in more of a Barry role...however an attacking team if we win is no bad thing.... I also feel NRC needs to get a chance in the middle again, he is certainly not a right midfielder. I can see Barry getting rested but I think the goals and clean sheets are going to need to be plentiful if I am to see it as a long term plan. I can see a 451 being used with Gabby dropped possibly but then I would much prefer a striker being bought.
  6. I would be very happy if he stays and I think the last few years have really shown his maturity in play and attitude. Since the outburst a month back, a fine and suspension he seems to have come back just as determined to prove himself. He has class that only comes with professionalism, he made a mistake, a big one but one mistake cannot be taken out of hand, he has given the club a lot, deserves to be playing at the highest level and even though timing was poor (should have given us one more year from the start) should not be berated with criticism when he performs on the pitch. He is class, some may say the attributes of world class class player so if he stays would I be happy? It's an obvious answer, our squad could do with keeping its best players!
  7. I would just like to offer my support to the £30million player comment. I guess it depends on how you view such a comment, I felt the point was being made that at some stage if a £30million player was available to us and we felt the player was right we would make the move. Currently we are not in that sort of financially viable/competitive bracket but if in example we would have been preparing for the Champions League after a successful UEFA cup campaign the realistic ambitions of the club could have stretched to players such as David Villa, who would cost £30million. Personally I thank the General for the potential insight. I think we would all like to compete for some of the players Totts compete for but in reality we do not have the London/very high wage factor that they have and our overall stability and quality of the club will be the deciding factor for any players decision to come, which I would imagine is the mental attitude that would suit our current successful setup.
  8. From what I have heard, and it is a trusted source (that of course might be staying quiet) there is no rumour in the Milner family that he is going anywhere. He is on holiday and nothing else is going on with him.
  9. I would want to boo him to put him off this game, and to show how much he meant. But who am I kidding, I would clap him, he will always have my respect. Still, if he stays on a long contract, its about time to rename the North End, The Gareth Barry Stand
  10. I agree with omariqy they are all good in their own way. I have played the 360 since its first release and a Wii since its, only recently had access to a PS3. If I had none of them what would I buy? It might be an economic decision, I could buy a 360 and a Wii for not a great deal over the price of a worthy PS3 and few games. But the 360 would be a lame version. Whereas the 360 and Wii have games that have a little more longevity and range the PS3 is lacking massively even if the future looks extremely bright. Multimedia wise I think the Wii is purely excellent, it has capabilities that put it in a very strong position for media viewing and the wireless networking increases its worth again. The 360 has potential but the simplicity of the Wii and support, makes its a better option for the general consumer. The PS3 is obviously the best on this front, sporting excellent technology and first class future multimedia support, even if this is lacking at the moment. Bluray is the winner (somebody had to be) and you get it included in the price. The console wars are interesting, if you want to play excellently put together games with a large variety you cannot really look past a 360. Even if the RROD (which is a disgrace) concerns you, you are still getting lots and lots of gaming, and excellent gaming at that. You just have to decide what version to buy! Pffff. If you want to play enthralling quirky games that offer entertainment, a social atmosphere and a different element to standard gaming then the Wii is just what you are looking for, with the added Nintendo and Japan brand game bonus that guarantees longevity. The PS3 is a geeks dream, it is excellent in many many departments but lacks the real gaming edge that the others currently provide. There are some great titles but choice is imperative and Sony have lost a few exclusive titles and need a few others to come out. Still an awesome bit of kit. So in reality you can't lose, pick your favourite games and then buy the console they are on! You will end up being happy! BTW I would buy a Wii, cant get past how simple and great it is in many many departments (especially multimedia) the PS3 isn't ready and I don't think the 360 hardware ambitions/issues have been settled.
  11. Very much underpaid in terms of performance and duties. Paid just right if you fulfil just the contract duties, which is completely and utterly impossible unless you want to create standstill and regression. Damn public sector lol
  12. I think the first one looks the best over fans. I liked the second on and the though the last one was interesting. For me though the first one just looks much more imposing and noticeable which is what we want. Rich colours, cant get distracted from the badge, excellent idea Villa, absolutely excellent idea.
  13. Gerrard Houllier seems to be having talks! Shame, I wanted them to get relegated Not that many days to get a new team though...maybe there is hope yet!
  14. Two of world footballs most self indulged players Antonio Cassano and David Beckham both felt Capellos wrath. Ronaldo, Edgar Davids, Del Piero and Totti all came to blows with him. A few others too. So who do you think, if anyone, will be the first England player to get above his station and find themselves out in the cold under Fabulous Fabio?
  15. It was harder even a measly 6 years ago!!!!! Finding a career that is worthy is harder nowadays. Service sector anyone? lol 30 years ago you had to work in the mines and still get your homework done
  16. Anyone who is between 37 plus is partly to blame for the problems we are having with kids. We have completely lost sight of common sense in parenting and we are a scared nation terrified of everything including discipline. The fear factor is ridiculous in the country, we do not have pedos everywhere, not everywhere is dangerous, and walking to the local shop will not get you murdered or kidnapped! Kids are definitely worse though, respect has gone out of the window completely and so had support for adults. I do a lot of youth work and always have, and every year the kids are less respectful. Having said that so many are perfect and need the right type of coaxing to get the best from them, it is massively down to the way a parent acts but kids are 'older' now, more street wise, and sometimes they have to realise their own faults. To those who would never hit a child, definitely fair play, whatever works for you but ill tell you now, when I was a child if you thought you could deal with me without physical discipline of some sort you would have had a nervous break down before you reached 40. I am not saying hitting a child is good, but showing dominance (i wasn't rude or naughty, I was clever and mischievous) when a child is difficult is necessary to construct the right kind of boundaries. We have lost sight of that too, and kids know the system works for them now, in school, at home and out and about. I have worked with many many kids with behavioural problems and the hardest part of my job has always been not being allowed any physical contact, I of course ignored this rule and ended up having by far the best success rate with the students. Don't bring back caning! But do keep the fear alive! lol
  17. Positive customer service as well as a great footballing spectacle?! What is going on with the Villa!!!
  18. If I was Harry I would take the money, he could afford to get sacked take his compensation and go back to Portsmouth! Newcastle are a stupid club nowadays
  19. Try for Harry, end up with The Honey Monster. Nightmare job to take!!!! Crazy weird club! lol
  20. Regulation is potential solution, but a potential nightmare too. Its rocky ground, you have to look at long term aspirin use too as many deaths come from the over use of aspirin and not just overdosing. People use aspirin on a daily basis more than once a day, my mum is pretty ill and she takes it all the time so is more exposed to its problems. So this will distort the figures, you don't take an E every day! Still the drug debate rages on, and more money is wasted combating the relatively harmless side of drug culture when the harmful drugs are still readily available and getting stronger.
  21. The latest episode is on the BBC website for 3 more days. www.tvcatchup.com if you have missed any others, or miss the 3day deadline. I have to say I enjoyed it but hope the next season is more down to earth, its a funny show, but I am not sure how much is show and how much is motoring journalism. Can't wait for next season though, and presumably, the one after that!!
  22. Fred Claus Also, Erenst is legendary, just like MVP.
