  1. So? So was McLeish, so was Keane, so was Ince. Stuart Pearce was captain under Brian Clough, I wouldn't want him either.
  2. I have a feeling they told every candidate one other person they've interviewed, just to see if they leak it to the press. (It's what I'd do) That's why Bruce and Clarke are all over the place but it's been quiet on anyone else.

    U.S. Politics

What gets me is his audacity for doing this, considering the number of rape cases that have been bought against him in the past or are still outstanding. Ranging from his own ex-wife and a 13 year old girl.
  4. Film director Andrzej Wajda died. If you don't know him seek out Kanal, excellent film about resistance fighters hiding from the Nazi's in the sewers during the Warsaw uprising.

So looking at the timing of it, is it Bruce or Keane that he's suggesting didn't want him?
  6. If we give Bruce a two year contract with the intention of sacking him if we don't get promoted this year, the pay off would essentially be a bonus for failing.
  7. We already had him, they had their 9th place finish and a trophy under McLeish.

So no-one is keen on this guy then? But it take it we think he's better than Paddy O'Reilly
  9. But Huddersfield might be in the Premiership by then too.
  10. This sort of comment really riles me. Because someone has the opinion that Bruce isn't the great manager that others do. They're a terrible fan, or an embarrassment. I've already gone over, some serious misgivings I have with the appointment. (None of which have anything to do with Birmingham City) I'm not sure why this makes me so bad. Just my honest opinion. Just as thinking he's the right appointment is, I assume, yours.

Why would you put that balls up on your CV?
  12. Maybe he's got something about him upstairs, and as a football pundit he has realised that Dr X's twitter is a great source of information when it comes to Villa.
  13. Being better than Micah Richards, is setting the bar pretty low.
  14. Now I know you're joking, he only played 9 games last season, and isn't particularly good.
  15. Because look at the long term damage having the wrong managers does. We had a bomb squad of McLeish players for years, we've still got Hutton we can't get rid of. The appointment of Tim Sherwood, and letting him do a re-build was basically the nail in the coffin that relegated us. Bruce's past of bringing players in is horrendous. He's had the odd hit like Hernandez but even he cost £10.2m from Palermo. His track record of signing his own son (who is not good) is questionable at best. His training methods are exactly forward thinking either. I thought we were trying to evolve as a club. People seem to want Bruce because he will 'organise' and 'motivate' the team. To me that is the basic, lowest expectations I have of ANY manager. The fact that, there are so many football managers out there that can't do this, is a reflection on the sad state of football coaching. I would like us as Aston Villa, not to perpetuate this by holding that as the minimum standard we require from the new boss. And people saying, yes but promotions, I've been watching this league, the standard of the opposition is absolutely terrible. A manager worth his salt should be picking up wins with our players (look how our loan players have performed in the past in this division, or many we let go that couldn't get in our first team) and as long as we pick up wins, I'll be happy, because promotion will come with results.
  16. Yeah, but is Ravel Morrison following him?
  17. Because then the manager gets all the stick from the fans for being disloyal, and the not chairman for failing to keep them.
  18. Ok I've done a more research than I should've bothered with but I think these are Bruce's top 20 signings by fee: 1 Asamoah Gyan £13,600,000 2 Michael Turner £11,560,000 3 Darren Bent £10,300,000 4 Abel Hernández £10,200,000 5 Emile Heskey* £7,920,000 6 Shane Long £7,230,000 7 David Dunn £7,010,000 8 Nikica Jelavic £6,630,000 9 Emile Heskey* £6,380,000 10 Robert Snodgrass £6,380,000 11 Lee Cattermole £5,950,000 12 Stéphane Sessègnon £5,950,000 13 Jake Livermore £5,950,000 14 Jason Koumas £5,870,000 15 Charles N'Zogbia £5,440,000 16 Clinton Morrison £5,420,000 17 Gary McSheffrey £5,100,000 18 Lorik Cana £4,930,000 19 Tom Huddlestone £4,930,000 20 Moses Odubajo £4,250,000 (*signed for Birmingham, and Wigan.) Also of note, Lee Cattermole, Alan Hutton, Keiran Richardson, and Titus Bramble. In fairness he did also sign Antonio Valencia for Wigan.
  19. After not really understanding the calls for Steve Bruce across social media, I decided to take a little time and look back through the squads he assembled over the years at the different clubs he'd managed. Now I understand even less, why people want Steve Bruce here.
  20. If Tony does a press conference in China to reveal Steve Bruce as manager, in my head it would be like that scene from Elephant man at the freak show.
  21. If you need someone who can motivate the players, the problem is with your players. Not the manager.
