I know that was funny, but I cant help feeling deep sadness on Mr Assman’s behalf for the name he inherited. You’d just start sobbing everytime you filled in a form of some kind.

Have to say I was worried at the sheer amount of work we had to do in the market a few weeks ago. Hats off, can anyone remember a more coherent and strategic acquisition policy than we’ve seen this year? I can’t. It’s all terribly exciting. We may not yet be world beaters, but it looks like there is a real plan in place and that we’ve done due diligence.

Not keen myself. Massive step down from last year's effort imo. Hopefully the 2nd and 3rd kits will be better. The blue. It's way too light.

People should also remember that we are amongst the few who have actually done business so far. Wait til the big boys get started. I doubt Mings transfer will be within the top 5 even for defenders this year. Maguire for £85 Million. Maguire. Eighty. Five. Freaking. Million.

Different circumstances, different test. It was as much Jack’s return to the side which sparked the crazy winning spree as his captainship, and you’d best believe Jack doesn’t need motivation to play for the Villa.

Fair point. We need leaders throughout obviously. Think we’re short in this regard atm. Need a ball winning midfielder.

Get what you’re saying but my reasoning is this- we’ve come from the championship where we were winning 3-4 games out of 5. Jack was one of the best technically in the league. We could have the luxury of a ‘lead-by-example’ captain. Now I reckon for the first season in the Prem we’re gonna get battered by 3 out of 5. We need someone as captain who is gonna be able to marshall a team with low morale, and dish out a verbal kicking or two when the time requires. As much as I love Jack, of course.

Get in! Great news. He’s gotta be captain for me. Plus we can actually field a defence now, which is awesome. Don’t get the negativity with the fee. Crazy or not, that’s what players cost now. We don’t wanna sell the family jewels, but equally we shouldn’t tight-arse our way straight back into the p**sing championship again.
