On a side note, I would just say that I’ve always had a bit of a soft spot for Everton. Good old club, very much like us.

1-1 Big Wes to get off the mark, to be pegged back by Richarlison. Would be happy with that.

Think Wes will be fine. It’s an adjustment is all. Some of his work in preseason was excellent. Just needs to make it happen in the Prem. Easier said than done, but the way we went about getting him, our scouts must have seen something in him. He’ll come good, give him time.

For me the key match up is Bernard/Richarlison vs whichever RB we play. Massively important that whoever gets the nod at RB has their head on straight or they will hurt us. That said, watching Everton at the weekend, they were massively wasteful. Their finishing was atrocious, so there could be something in it for us.

You’re absolutely right, but we gotta scrap and earn it. People were tipping us as top 10 a couple of weeks ago. We can stay up, but we gotta be realistic and acknowledge that’s the goal.

I’ll be honest, i’m kind of against the ice cold nature of VAR. The human factor gives us stories and discussion points. Let’s face it, without perceived injustices, most of the league will have to come to terms with the fact that they are rubbish, not unlucky. That said diving has been the thing that has sucked the most joy out of the game for me for the last few years, and if it can help get rid of diving scumbags, then I’m all for it. Will be interesting to see how it affects the league table, too. Liverpool might be mid table without the diving
