  1. I think it's a good thing to be lowering expectations because right now they're getting a little over the top. Time and time again we've failed to meet expectations, so being realistic I don't feel as if we should be favourites for top 4 despite our current position. What I would say is that we have improved on last season - and the belief our team is showing is stronger than last season. We've managed to beat Liverpool and Utd away (first time in years), and the players are going into games with the belief that they can win. MON has drilled it in to them that they can't just turn up, and results have been getting better as the seasons gone on. Of course there will be off days over the second half of the season, but I can't see the same collapse happening again. Yes we'll lose a few (probably to teams we should beat), but I reckon we'll have more in us to stay the course and challenge till the very end.
  2. That was pretty dire to watch. Not a lot of clear cut opportunities, and we lacked something today. I think it's probably tiredness to blame, so I'm just pleased we got 3 points.
  3. In a week where we've beaten Man Utd at OT for the first time in 26 years, do we really need another 'what's wrong with MON' thread?
  4. Listening to their Wolfsberg game this makeshift Utd defence sounds extremely shaky.
  5. Away at Old Trafford is always going to be tough, even if the back line is a bit make shift. I'd be much more confident if we were at home, because you just know Gibson is going to pop up with a wonder goal at some point.
  6. Fair enough really. He did very little on Saturday. Good to see Downing start. Hopefull Heskey is up for this one!
  7. Burnley are this season's Hull and I expect them to struggle in the second half of the season. However, this is going to be a very tough tie - a physical encounter where we need to ensure we concentrate throughout. I'd play the same team as Saturday except perhaps bring in Petrov for Sidwell. That miss from Sidders was a droppable offence!
  8. Did anyone think it bizarre that Megson didn't push Knight forward for their attacking set pieces? He's a beanpole - surely they've seen he can be effective on corners and free kicks?! Anyway, I enjoyed the game and the lack of stress going into the final 20 mins of the game. Atmosphere was a bit lacking in the North Stand but I guess it was only Bolton we were playing. Against Chelsea the atmosphere was terrific.
  9. Whenever we play WHU away I remember that awful night a few seasons back when Harewood scored a trick against us and we lost 4-0. A draw at Upton Park isn't a bad result, but I can see it going either way.
  10. Could do without this extra time considering our game coming up away at Everton. If we lose this one, I sense we probably won't beat the blue scouse either.
  11. Really is this all the right wingers?!
  12. Merse. The only truly creative centre mid we've had in years.
  13. Apparently it's an arse because you can't listen to Spotify and do other things with your iPhone. Maybe they'll fix it with an update.
  14. Watched District 9 last night. Immense!
  15. Right. I'm very tempted to get an iPhone, but I'm trying to justify the extra expense. Currently, I'm on a rolling month by month contract with 3. If I want I could ring up 3 and get them to give me a new phone and a reduction on my contract (currently £25p/m for 750mins/100txts). Alternatively, I could cancel the contract and order an iPhone on a £35p/m contract. Is this worth doing? I mean, is it worth an extra £10 a month? Other than buying a second hand iPhone, is there a way of getting one cheaper? I'm intrigued by getting it unlocked, but not sure if it's safe/worth risking the warranty etc. Essentially what I'm asking is what is the most cost effective solution to getting one of these beauties.

  17. On the positive side; this. Yep. For some reason I'm really not that fussed about the Europa League. MON would probably have ended playing a weakened team again and we'd have played an extra 10 or so games before the knock out stage.
  18. Feel indifferent. Crap result obviously, but at the end of the day it's so many extra games and if we had of made the knock out stages, MON would no doubt have ended up fielding a weakened team.
  19. Apparently Joe '****' Kinnear's been offered a 2 year deal to return to Newcastle. Their fans must be feeling physically sick!
