What tactics are you playing lads?

Just signed Inler and thinking of getting Barnetta for a bit of Swiss connection. I think the contract negotiations are a lot more realistic. I'm not sure why Villa are rated as having the worst technical ability in the league though. I know MON had us playing some pretty direct stuff, but we've still got some skill in the side. Young, Downing, Petrov, Carew all have good technique IMO. Also, why is Albrighton only 12 for pace. From what I've seen he's at least as quick as Downing (14).

Will be very interesting to see VDV up against our back 4. I'd put Ireland in for Albrighton, and play him a bit like Arteta does for Everton, with Downing as our wide man swapping sides.

Well from the intermittent highlights I've seen on UStream and Veetle streams, we've looked pretty shaky at the back and probably should have conceded a penalty. That Ashley Young miss could be crucial- I hope we can build on the lead second half, rather than sit back and let them come at us.

It's also not a slap in the face if there were other candidates to be interviewed after KM.

With the squad we've got, I reckon we can still challenge at the top end of the league BUT Houllier is a big risk by Randy. Curbs would be a much safer appointment, but far less interesting! If Houllier can get off to a good start, perhaps a scalp against Spurs (away) or Chelsea (home), then I reckon the fans will get behind him and we could see knock on effects in the January transfer window where I expect we'll have to strengthen. The media talk about a player revolt is off the mark IMO - Carew has said he thinks Houllier is a good manager, and Warnock had a problem with Benitez, not GH, when he was at Liverpool.

Whoever we pick will have their flaws. We've just gotta get on with it, because at the moment we're a rudderless ship.

For me, if the choices are limited to Houllier, Sven, Curbs, KMac and Zola then it has to be Houllier or Sven. I'm inclined to think that Sven will want massive wages though, so maybe it would be better to appoint Houllier

Talkshite were saying their sources believe Moyes won't be our manager. Personally I can't see it either, but he certainly would be a great choice. Randy won't buy out his contract though, and nor will Moyes resign.
