  1. Unlike this forum, where we are all certified geniuses.
  2. I remember the O'Neil thread being quite similar a few years ago, especially in his last season. Plenty of people calling for his head, complaining about the "dire" football, not being able to control games, struggling against smaller teams etc. No matter who the manager or what the situation is there'll always be critics and rightly so once it doesn't go overboard.
  3. Suliman who only made two appearances on loan at Grimsby who were almost relegated from League two last year?
  4. This is an Aston villa forum isn't it? ??
  5. It's hard to disagree with you, we made a hash of it. The Bolton away game in the snow was a particular low point for me, absolute non show, but I still think warts and all he's the right choice for next season based on circumstances. Ironically enough I wouldn't be against wielding the axe on him next season if he won promotion, don't think he has the tools in his locker for kicking on in the premiership.
  6. Yes, by one bit of poor covering by Adomah cost us. Fulham were a free flowing swashbuckling attacking machine and scored from one lapse in concentration in a half we were trying to contain (albeit dangerously) . It was a tight game of few chances, they got the break. We lost, end of. Should we have gotten automatic promotion? Big time yes but unfortunately other teams are capable of playing above themselves, the joy of football I suppose. And I suppose that's the reason the three teams who go up to the Premiership don't always go straight down again, there's too many variables in football, resources doesn't guarantee league position.
  7. @ciggiesnbeer totally agree, especially the Yes Prime minister reference.? Hopefully Bruce hits the ground running this season though, capitalise on and continue the feel good factor around the club at the moment.
  8. Saw him play for Wales in a few of the world Cup qualifiers, looks like serious talent. Winger /inside forward type.
  9. Think he was having a swipe at Jackson Pollack
  10. I initially thought that was just a bollox article but I see it's from The Mirror so its as reliable as the encyclopedia britannica.
  11. Or if Graeme Jones was the head coach ?
  12. Henry was only the second assistant coach for Belgium, he was below Graeme Jones who was actually the first assistant coach. Maybe we should go after Graeme Jones instead, thoughts?
  13. Totally agree with this, will support whoever the manager is next season (including Bruce) I think thats nonsense, no fan will celebrate failule for their club and I think peoples skepticism is justified for somebody with zero experience as a manager and was only second assistant to Roberto Martinez.
  14. Ah right yeah, wasn't really following this topic much ?
  15. Revaluations are excluded from FFP unfortunately.
  16. I do agree with the importance of context but to be fair Tony Barton wasnt one of our better managers and largely won the cup on the back of Saunders work and then oversaw the stady decline of the club shortly afterwards.
  17. Third highest win rate in Villa's history, obviously the win % doesnt mean as much as agasint the top flight maangers but still not as bad as some people make out. 18. Yeah, that's all spot on. Richards signed on a free though as far as I know so there would be nothing to depreciate at all over his contract and therefore no extra accountancy loss would be incurred anyway.
  19. Can you provide any evidence that the expected target for Bruce from the club for that season was promotion? Again, you seem to be having difficulty grasping the concept of cherry-picking.
  20. The only valid point in time for determining whether he failed in his objective is the point at which he took the job and was given his objective, selecting any other date to suit an argument is cherry-picking.
