  1. I'm not really sure that a 10 year contract and 75 million in compensation is such a good deal for a 22 year old
  2. Probably not, but between the list of managers who are achievable vs the list of managers named here, there's a pretty small overlap.
  3. The thing is that Football doesn't work like that. We don't know who the next manager is going to be. DS was given time to build an identity that culminated with us leaking goals left right and centre (13 in our last 4? or something similar), with no discernible pattern of play, and lumping on 4 strikers in his last match in charge. I can't see how more time would have made a difference. I understand injuries and bedding in new players etc etc, but that's all part of the managers remit, and it didn't work out. That's football. DS always has long winless runs, i think that is fairly undeniable from Walsall to Brentford to us. The PL has 38 games a season, the Championship has 46. Long winless runs translate badly in the PL, as you have less room for manoeuvre, and a long run of bad results ends up with CEO's and owners getting very nervous as you sink down the table. It's a shame it didn't work, because the vast majority of us wanted him to succeed, but it didn't.
  4. The thing with this position is the same with players getting slated for using a club as a 'stepping stone' is that unless you play or manage PSG / Real / Barca etc, every club is a stepping stone. We really need to get rid of this mentality of expecting the manager to be committed life long to the Villa project, and see it in terms of 2-3 years per manager (if you are lucky), and hopefully have continual improvements as managers come and go. That's what the CEO's job is isn't it? To oversee the transition between managers and keep some form of continuity of style. I'm not convinced he will succeed, and would be happy to be proven wrong. The whole Steve G's Aston Villa does annoy, but that is a minor concern in the long run.
  5. This is pretty much where I'm at. Hope it works, bold choice, could blow up.
  6. Question for the doubters. What would he need to do to win you over?
  7. I imagine him on the touch line, sporting a mile jedinak beard. It would be hilarious to watch, but probably from the distance of another club lol.
  8. I sitting halfway between both camps. Old enough to remember how much of a word removed he was, and not convinced he's the right person for the job.
  9. I think a lot of the disappointment in his name being linked isn't anything to do with him as a player or as a coach, but him being a generally unlikeable person.
  10. No fish puns and no commentary on the beard status of new managerial suggestions. I'm disappointed VT.
  11. Sad day for Deano, but no one can truly say performances in 2021 were up to standard. A lot riding on the next appointment.
  12. Get out of here with that communist talk
  13. Yeah, doesn't look good for Ole either!
  14. Some 15 year old on the forum is going to quote this on his 95th birthday, in an act of thread necromancy never before seen.
  15. Friday night games should be fired into the sun.
  16. I guess it's dependent on whether the solution is better than the problem. Like someone once said, if you don't believe in cancel culture, do a twitter search for 'Find out where they work' Having said that, criminalising people for criticising bad decisions isn't really a good plan either.
  17. Collapsed totally, I can’t see too much room for DS left now
