IMO we need to improve the following positions: CB, ST, GK, RM, RB (in that order of priority) If we can at least get a new CB and ST in this window I will be happy. We can re-evaluate the requirements in January depending on how the guys have been settling in/performing. That said, if we can pick Lennon up for £5m we would be mad not to. I would much prefer him to N'Zogbia plus hes home grown and has prem experience. CB: Balanta would be an amazing coup but I cant see us getting him. Still want Nkoulou but havent seen any links. If its a choice of Lescott or nothing then I would take Lescott in for sure. A fit Lescott would make you feel more confident than most of our CB's. Again, hes home grown, prem experience, chips in with a few goals and the guys will learn from him. Richards knows him well too so it would certainly help make his transition to CB a little smoother. ST: I think the Adebayor deal is dead and the club havent allocated the No10 shirt to anyone so it looks like there is a good chance an attacking player will still be brought in. Would love that to be Embolo or Oulare but I have faith in the scouting teams dealings so I will get behind whoever it is. GK: As i've said before, I like Guzan but only because hes a good shot stopper. For me he isn't vocal enough and doesnt command/organise his defence so we could definately improve on him. RM: Already mentioned Lennon but like the look of Traore as well so wouldnt mind either. Gil played there on his debut and looked amazing. I like Bacuna in that position as well and think that he would get a fair number of assists if Gestede is the one waiting on his crosses. RB: Hutton has been excellent since he left the bomb squad and dedicated himself and we have to give Crespo a chance before we panic so unless we are going to spend another £10m on a player I think we are ok there for now. We can always address it in January if its not working out. One day to go, UTV!!!!!

GOOD NEWS FOR SWANSEA! Swansea captain Ashley Williams, who has been linked with a move to Crystal Palace this summer, has been speaking to Sky Sports News HQ at the Premier League launch and he’s had this to say about his future… “I’ll be staying – the gaffer has come out and said that,” Williams said. “I’m used to dealing with speculation – it’s just part of the job and I take it as a compliment. But I’m totally committed to Swansea and I think everybody knows that.” Doh!

Been saying it for a few weeks on here now but I still think we should be looking at Ashley Williams. We could probably get him for about £10m which I know seems a lot for someone that turns 31 this month but he is proven, solid, experienced, knows the prem and is a leader (captain of Wales and Swansea). He should have 2 good seasons in him which would be enough time for Clark and Okore to learn a lot and develop under his guidance. We paid £10.5m for Curtis Davies 7 years ago so is £10m or even £12m a lot in todays market? Also like Shawcross and Nkoulou. A combination of two from those three would fill me with a lot more confidence. We need a better keeper IMO as well. Someone who is more vocal and can organise/command his defence to stop a lot of these errors. We get ripped open at the back far too often as the defence is not organised. The lads need a good pair of eyes behind them that can see the whole picture and alert them when they are out of position. Not sure who that would be but it is definately an area we can improve on. FWIW I do like Guzan but we can/should do better.

Techinically Traore can never sign for villa because I've heard of him. The same problem is whats been holding up the Adebayor deal, they are looking for a loophole at the moment to see if they can get the deal over the line. But, as I said, I've heard of him, so its unlikely.

We are going to have to score lots of goals to win games this season as I dont expect too many clean sheets unless we get a CB and GK in that are better than the ones we have (I like Guzan as a shot stopper but he cant organise a defence) so I'm gonna say 4-3 to Villa :-)
