    Second City

Leeds is the third city so how can Manchester claim to be second from fourth? Dumb Mancs.
  2. Sometimes I think Mourinho didnt do himself justice by taking over a Chelsea. Every manager would love a massive transfer kitty but with it comes ridiculous expectations, owner wanting superstars instead of team players, no credit for achievement etc etc. Mourinho has brought a lot of youth players from clubs in England and abroad as he is trying to build for the future. However that is something that is impossible at Chelsea as its a league and a champions league or your out of a job. How is meant to build a young team for years to come if thats the expectation every year? I'd like to see him take over a club on the rise where he is left to manage the team how he feels fit and is also given time to build with a long term plan. Similar to the luxury MON has with us. Then he can again show why he is the special one the way he did at Porto.
  3. I think Ranieri, Cappello and the numerous Real managers over the years would have something to say about that.
  4. I agree with this. Mourinho is a tactical genius and his preparation for games is second to non. He has a plan for every possible scenario for every game so if at times you see John Terry up front that this a last resort and at times it has worked. He also isnt scared to make bold changes when things aren't working out.
  5. i would completely disagree that MON is a low profile manager. Allegedly, one of the reasons he didn't get the england job is that he was too forthright with his opinions. if you want low profile, look for the likes of McClown or Curbishley. MON is not IMO low profile. Ok, maybe chose the wrong words, but with low profile I meant that he likes to hold a low profile while Mourinho does not. See what I mean? The way talk to the press, the things they say, etc. In that I think MON is a low profile manager. He likes to stay calm. I think Mourinho acts this way to try to take the limelight and pressure off the players and to an extent it worked. The amount of money he has to spend is almost a hindrance to him IMO. The team is more important to him then individuals but naturally the owner didn't see it this way and wanted stars, i.e Sheva, Ballack.
  6. I'd have to say I'd be secretly very happy about it because I'm a massive Mourinho fan since his Porto days. Read his book and even hoped Chelsea did well because of him. Shame on me I know.
  7. If in an amazing twist MON resigned and Mourinho took over how would we react?
  8. you've spelt sikh wrong mate. there is no e.
  9. I still believe but it dosent make it any less frustrating. 5 quality additions from now until Aug and the whole picture will look completly different. I think we are good enough to get 4 points at least out of our games in August and then push on from there. If the players dont come in there is gonna be a riot!
  10. I clicked my vote of 4 before looking at the poll and was quite surprised the majority of us think this! a good sign surely.

encouraging to see the 5th-7th is the highest percentage. Keep the faith !
  12. It's a fair article apart from the part where JC says the squad is the same as last year so he would expect a similar position. The part of last season which lead us down the table was without Sorenson, Carew, Young, Maloney, Gabby on the right and most importantly Laurson not on the pitch. Our squad is already way better than the one which started last season, can push for a place in Europe and will do.
  13. Great Post. But I still think its a very small minority of fans who are getting worked up and in a frenzy for no reason. Let me explain....For arguments sake lets say theres 40K passionate villa fans and 2K of them come on this site. Out of that 2K I'd say about 20 maximum are acting like its the end of the world and are being very negative. So my point is I still think most fans are very exited to be a villa fan at the moment but are remaining quiet and patient while letting the club do what they have to do in a professional manner.
  14. Getafe's Daniel Guiza is on the OS rumour watch. Anyone seen him play?
  15. Everyone will talk about second season syndrome and how Gabby will suffer from this but i tend to disagree. The difference between his first season and others such as Davis is that Gabby could have been better where as Davis seemed to play to the best of his ability and set him self too high a standard to continue by. Gabby suffered harsh criticism during the middle of the season and got though it to look an improved player. He can and will play better and I'm really excited for him for next season.
  16. i couldn't disagree more. we need an out and out GOALSCORER! something which he is not, ditto Carew & Agbonlahor I think Gabby can be an out and out goalscorer. His record last season was quite impressive considering how many games he played on the wing as opposed to up front. He makes timely runs and has the knack of being in the right place at the right time. On top of that he scored goals against Chelsea, Liverpool and Man U. That is why i hope we sign a good striker to challenge Gabby for a place rather than spend millions on one who will expect to walk straight in to the team..i.e. Defoe, Bent etc.
  17. when this weekend is over we will see a lot of signings from la liga across the premiership. Including us.
  18. does anyone remember which forum that Adidas guy posted on because he seemed to predict all January's signings correctly. Its a newspaper but i cant remember which one.
  19. For me he was probably the best of a bad bunch today. I cant believe how much the Czech team play acted. Obviously learning at a young age. Ridiculous.
  20. http://www.tifonet.it/notizie/articolo.php?codice=61731&sn=tmw Can anyone translate please? sorry mods, do not know how to short link.
  21. ^ Maybe this is the player with the same agent has John Carew that we will be buying?
  22. sums it up but also shows again how many players we really need to buy. I just hope its not to much of a transitional season with all these players trying to settle in. But i think he already has the base of the team so this should hopefuly prevent that happening.
  23. I'd rather see Gabby starting then Defoe I think next season he can be one the leagues top scorers with a whole season up front. Maybe i'm getting ahead of myself but this is the player that excites me the most for the future!
  24. You know what mate no one cares who they played for as long as they do well for ASTON VILLA. These players that MO'N is after from Celtic have got to be good if they can play with shit players like Lee Naylor and Paul Telfer and do well in the Champions League. I agree. I think some Villa fans like to moan for the sake of it. Old habits never die
