  1. Not a single other player you'd be happy with on the left-wing? Messi? Dont be absurd, Messi is obviously a striker!
  2. so if he doesnt sign then the people who think the board were tight are wrong but if he does sign then the people who think the board are tight are wrong? hmm you could flip that and have it if he doesnt sign they were right and if he does sign it means they were right and they had to pay the extra money Why if he signs does anyone have to be right or wrong? If he signs who gives a ****, the main point is he's signed and we should all be pleased about a quality player joining. My orginal post was that I'm of the opinion that if he doesnt sign for us it will not be due to financial reasons. I could be wrong but if he is the last player we are signing this summer then a few million is not going to make us lose our target. I know things have become tight but this still isnt Ellis days. The amount RL has spent on compensation alone proves that.
  3. The board have become tight regardless of whether we sign him or not. Leaving MON in charge of all transfer negotiations has now forced that hand.
  4. I think if he does hit the heights there would be a larger chance of keeping him for longer due to the fact he came through the ranks. Similar to how we could have kept Cahill. I dont think i'll ever get over us selling him
  5. If he goes to Sunderland over us then it will be his choice and nothing to do with the 1 Million extra they are asking for. I'm 100% sure of that but we still know some fans will be using this as an excuse to attack the board. But as said lets cross that bridge when the time comes.
  6. Excellent question. I just dont see how anyone can do anything about something that "Might" or "might not" happen The only time we will know is on September the 1st. Then we will all know where we stand. And then we can tear each other to bits Hopefully 3 wins will take our mind off things.
  7. ok Fair enough but dont forget that was the year we scored a lot of goals from freekicks, especially with Laurson being superb in the air. Young took all the free kicks. My point is Albrighton is an exciting talent and can be as good as Ashley Young IMO.
  8. How old is Albrighton? Would it be fair to say he looks better than Young did at the same age? I think all the youth players that featured last year have the potential of becoming established PL players. All be it Albrighton, Clark, Delph and Bannan seem to have that something extra. They have to be brought in slowly and alongside experience. Due to injuries last year there were times they were all in the team at once which although was a good learning experience for them, it was very hard for them to cope.
  9. What is everyone arguing about? Why dont we just wait and see what actually happens?
  10. I agree with anybody that thinks Ireland will be superb next season. I can see him reproducing his early Man City form if he remains fit. Only problem is, will he remain fit?
  11. This is the new Villa though, nothing would surprise me! The new villa? Didn't we go a few years without a recognised RB an the when finally signed one played him at left back? I'd like to think this is the new villa under a new manager. I hope I'm right.
  12. Just watched his top 10 goals on YouTube. He really is quality.
  13. The media are making him the obvious replacement for Young but there has been nothing concrete to suggest we are even after him let alone going to sign him. I have to admit signing him would restore a lot of belief in the clubs ambition this summer.
  14. Then you wake up. Would be nice if it came true tho It would but how often are nice things coming true these days for villa. After a few years of optimism I think our chance of continued success has been blown by MON irresponsible spending! Some could blame the board for allowing him free reign but on the other hand he was a well respected manager who you'd think would be able to bring some sort of success with 90M net spend and one of the biggest wage bills in the league! Now we are left with having no idea of the caliber of player we are able to sign and no really expectation. Back to Ireland. I think he will do well next season. You don't just turn shit overnight.
  15. The more you watch him though...don't you find he reminds you of Ashley Young far more than he does a Downing type player? His Free kicks were great last year for Wigan. Oh yeah definitely more Young than Downing. Just seems faster and stronger although more one footed. If he was English or played at a bigger club he would be a lot highly rated IMO. That is why the figures branded around would be great business.

  17. I just watched Nzogbia's goals and assists from last season. Very impressive. Whoever signs him may just pull off the signing of the summer.
  18. Steaknchips is distorting everything to make his point!
  19. Foster fell in to that category at Watford. Great shot stopper but not once have I ever seen him look commanding from cross's.
  20. The best keepers are the ones that may not have much to do but when called upon do their job. Being in a shit team you could lose 3-0 yet be man of the match. That's when you get a false reputation for being a top keeper i.e. Carson, Foster, Robinson maybe even the Wigan keeper. Kuszcak played behind one of the best defences yet still let in too many goals. He was the weak link more often than not. This is why signing him would be a big mistake!
  21. Foster will be around 10m.. Given around 4m... Kusczkak is available on a free.. Then look ate the wages; Foster 28yrs, 40-50k pw( 3yr deal with trans fee = 30m) Given 35yrs, 50-60k pw(3yr deal with trans fee = 30m) Kusczkak 29yrs, 30-40k pw( 3yr deal with trans fee = 15m) Thats a saving of 15m.. Which we could use to strengthen elsewhere in the team.. For me GK is one of the most important positions on the pitch. Every good team must have a good keeper that the defence feels confident playing in front of. Having a shakey keeper like Kuszcak or Foster will have a deprimental effect on the whole back 4. This is why it must be Given.
  22. Certain fans talk about the club having no ambition yet they want the next keeper to be Foster or Kuszczak. I don't get it.
  23. Liverpool remind me of us a few years back. Spending way of over the ends on good English players and building for the future. If they don't make champions league in the next few seasons the money will dry up in my opinion. American owners are business men, they are not going to spend like crazy year after year.
  24. THIS, THIS, THIS, THIS!! I posted EXACTLY the same last night.. the whole thing just doesn't add up. Randy Lerner is the most honest guy there is. How many chairman have to tell everyone.. that and publically on their website often... Watford FC.... over signing Ashley Young. Boro.... over signing Downing. Leeds... over signing Delph (Particularly...remember what Bates said) that I can remember off top of my hat. Then Whelan's public interview of how proud we should be of Randy Lerner. What's happened as he had a seizure this week or something. Add to that why there is a complete blackout at VP and rumours staff have had to sign non disclosures... yet GK defends McCleish on facebook??!!! The whole thing is not logical! Randy's gone nuts! That can be the only possible explanation.
