That article also says that Villa have just returned from Austria so I wouldnt read too much into it. Bentakey got offered a new deal like all the other players that played well last season. I wouldnt dream of giving a player with his mentality 100k a week. He has had 1 good season and there is no guarantee that he will have as good a season as last year again and until he does it consistantly for a few years at least then he isnt worth 100k. Hes a billy big bollox with no loyalty and no respect for the managers he has played for and especially Lambert who put so much faith in him and gave him his big break and kept giving him 90 minutes every week even when he was playing shit.

Do you think we'd splash 50k a week on this guy? I mean I don't know a lot about the player myself. One positive is that hes been at his current club for 3 seasons so at least we might get more than 1 season out of him!

Funnily enough there is a youtube video of him at an airport (In Japanese unfortunately). Some Japanese guy has translated it to him saying something like, I understand there is interest from AVFC and this excites me. He then goes onto say something like the deal is half way there. Or in direct translation "It is halfway towards my goal" any chance of a link to the video? we have Japanese speakers on here who could probably translate it

No doubt he had a bad time last year and made plenty of mistakes but he wasnt helped by the fact that the defence was getting no real protection from midfield for alot of the time that he was playing. Also he was the one who had to marshall the defence when Vlaar got injured and you could see that he wasnt really up to it at that stage of his career and things kinda went from bad to worse for him. This season will be the measure of him imo and we will see if he can learn from his experiences of last season and become a better player for it.

About 2 weeks before Benteke handed in his transfer request he was positive he would be signing an extended 4 year contract :'( I stopped following him a long time ago - full of shite! Also about 2 hours before the news broke about Bentakeys transfer request he tweeted 'not alot happening today folks, quiet day at Villa Park'

He also deleted a tweet that said he understands fans getting upset but there is no need for the abuse and that we should leave that to the noses. haha legend

I'd reckon Given might hold out to see if a premiership team comes in for him so is probably in no hurry to accept Doncasters offer. Agree with what you said about Hutton, at least he wanted to play and did his best to secure a move away so fair play to him

Well its looking like Bent could be gone by the weekend as Pardew has been quoted today as saying he expects one of his signings to be wrapped up by the time they play there next friendly which is on Saturday. There is also reports that Hutton is going to Mallorca on a permanent deal. As well as them two, Given suppossedly has the offer of joining Doncaster on loan with us probably paying some of the wage. So if everything works out like that we could have roughly 100k a week off the wage bill by the weekend. Its been reported that we wont be signing anymore players until we get rid of a few so I'd be hopeful that we might start getting a few players coming in next week or soon after.

Really?? He got offered a new contract at the end of the season like all the other players that deserved one. There is no guarantee that he will have a season like he did last year again so there is no point offering someone mega bucks until they have proved they can do it consistantly at the top for 2 or 3 seasons at least. Imo the way these contracts should work is if you play shit or end up like Stephen Ireland there should be a clause in the contract where your wages are reduced, I know it cant really happen for many reasons but it just sickens me that if a player plays brilliant he gets a rise and an extension deservedly but if the opposite happens and they play shit and stop caring then they still get the same wage rather than having their wage reduced and the club having an option to terminate the contract.

There is every chance of us signing a player like that as its the type of player we are crying out for. Especially if we sell Bentakey then I see no reason why we couldnt spend around 10m on this type of player. I personally want him to get the Darren Bent treatment this year. Dont want him to play for Villa again. The best outcome is that we get between 25m - 30m for him and can build for the future with players that have some respect for the club and that want to be here. Gabby and Andy were sensational at times last season and I fully expect Weimann to be even better this season. Add to that a new striker who can hopefully bang in around 15 goals and we wont be long forgetting about Bentakey.

Well James Nursey broke the story about Bentakey handing in a transfer request so there is every chance that the club use him to get news out. Imo Bentakey will strike to get his way but I doubt he will have as much success as he did with Genk and he probably realises this so is hoping it all gets done asap. Will be interesting to see what happens either way
