  1. Some players just seem to come alive or play at another level with better players around them. Its a real art identifying those players. Often they're the "wonderkids" who get snaffled up by big clubs, hit a rough patch and end up at a lower level, but the talent and potential is still there. I think Rogers is such a player. I think there's more like him around and finding them can save us a lot of money.
  2. Would you prefer Chiesa or Jack at Villa next season?
  3. Villa JG was world class. Man City have ruined him by making him play differently. It was all so predictable but he has a bunch of medals so...
  4. I haven't slept a wink for a week. I keep having nightmares about Tom Brady laughing manically as Taylor Swift plays to a sold out Keeprireonbowl in a Blose shirt.
  5. I thought you had some new info. Lets draw a line under it now.
  6. An official press release considered by the board and approved.
  7. I know, but they're not a club statement. That's a different category all together. Even then, things can change.
  8. To be honest, you're not really saying anything much. You're just quoting minutes from a meeting we've all read, and claiming its a club statement, which it isn't. And you seem to be upset by anybody considering even the slight possibility that we move stadium. You don't think we'll move and you think the club have stated this. We get it.
  9. Its tight but probably not worth the hassle, and you'd have to have additional offsite parking.
  10. Jesus Christ. I did know about them. I wasnt referring to them when I said second hand comments but rather the local media reporting.
  11. No offence but this back and forth is getting a bit boring, now, so I'll try and sum up where I am. I know about these FAB comments, as does everybody in the Villa world by now, I'm sure. You can take them as a cast iron guarantee we will not be moving. I don't. Not because I think the club have been misleading or deliberately lying, but because it may become apparent that expanding the stadium as initially planned is no longer viable for several reasons. I also get the feeling the situation is fluid and changeable. What was in reply to social media comments in December may be out of date now too. Nor what was that a club statement, but the minutes of a meeting. I say again, I don't expect that its more likely that we'll move. Quite the opposite. I just think we'll have to expand the land we own around VP to get where we want to be and possibly build a stadium next to VP to minimise disruption. Does that scenario mean we're moving or not? I'd say its a matter of opinion / perspective.
  12. I have too. And I didn't take them as cast iron guarantees, just that there were no plans to move. Like I say, the situation can change. They already have to some degree. I also agree a redevelopment of the area (dependent on expanding the land) is the most likely outcome. We're roleplaying a situation than may or not become a necessity. Edit: Sorry, this was a response to Outbyeaster than didnt include his post for some reason. Long day maybe.
  13. There's no statement to that effect, just some second hand comments that there's no plans to move. Well right now that could well be true, or was a month or two ago. Its not a question of lying, but a fluid situation until concrete is laid. All we know is that there was a plan that has already been revised and could be completely overhauled again as far as we know. You may not want to move, and I don't either, but its possible it ends up being the best option for us and while that is a possibility, some of us would like to discuss the options / possibilities. The club might also consider building a new stadium adjacent to Villa Park as not moving. Semantics. The main cause for pausing the existing plan was disruption to the stadium during a season. Well, the only way around that is to build a new stadium while VP is in use. Or add a small amount of seats, which isn't really addressing the issues. Neither do I think the new board appointments point to anything modest in scope.
  14. I haven't seen or heard anything definitive to say we're definitely not moving. Even if Heck said so, things can change (North Stand plans for proof) and these board additions suggest something big is in the offing. The NEC area is hardly on the outskirts of Nottingham is it? And as I said, everything around there is called Birmingham in any case. Who cares what local authority currently owns it, its what's best for the club that matters. But as I stated, we could acquire the land around Witton Rd, the River Tame, Aston Distressway and do it that way. There's no need to rule anything out at the moment. We could move, we could move to the NEC area, or The Fort, or we could stay where we are. Its just a fun debate at this stage lacking any clarity of the actual planning.
  15. Why do we have to be on Birmingham council land? The NEC is called NEC Birmingham, and is surrounded by such features as the Birmingham Business Park, Birmingham Airport and Birmingham Intl Station. Nobody cares about Solihull. Who says we're not moving? Nobody knows that either way.
  16. There's no where near enough space for a 60k stadium unless we buy all or most of the land / housing to the river / Witton Rd./ Aston Distressway The Doug Ellis stand would have to double in size or more, the North Stand would be bigger than the Holte and we'd need to fill the corners in. Then you need massive amounts of car parking. Its probably just about doable but its a massive ballache.
  17. I'd keep him as well. He, like Rogers, can play positions Ramsey probably can't, like CF. Gives us plenty of options. Watkins, Duran, Zaniolo, Buendia, Rogers, Ramsey, Youri, McGinn, Bailey and Diaby all competing for the front 4 positions, with a few of them covering for the double pivots too.
  18. I think he's rated highly but we'll see. If not starter then at least competing for it.
  19. Sad as that is, the JLR site is huge. Plenty big enough and loads of transport links...
  20. Yeah, its interesting to debate. Fun. The actual solution may surprise everybody. Welcome to the Bromford Bridge Hyperdome, home of the mighty West Midlands Village.
  21. Agreed. I think its time to move Cash on. Cheers Matty and all that. Konsa is a better right back and we need him as a centre half. Kosta looks like he could be an absolute baller, so get another senior guy in to smooth the transition and cover. And yes, the other priority is definitely cover for Kamara.
  22. Transport links would obviously be part of the build process. There are several potential sites with better transport links than VP. The roads in particular are terrible, as is the parking. New trains, fair enough. The stations as is are not fit for purpose though. And this is as it stands now, never mind catering for 50-60k. Every option on the table would require significant construction work, road / rail routing, upgrading, new services etc. The only other option is do nothing, which isn't an option.
