  1. "I think in 12 months time many fans will be talking of the good old days of doug ellis" - Many Bloose fans possibly. But, this can't be a quote from one as he claims to have developed the ability to think and Bloose fans have yet to evolve that far. By the way as far as the takeover is concerned only one man can stand in the way of what has been agreed so have you had a word with him Denis?
  2. Exactly Ian. Why would they want to take any heat of our departing chairman? News was anticipated before Christmas and I think this is their way of telling us that they are still active and ready to takeover and this news also serves to make it more difficult for the old man to pull out as he did with Ranson. The talk of showing the money is rubbish, the money is there. When you sell a property for example the money does not turn up until the completion date, so why all the talk about wanting to see that it is there? This deal will happen and only one old man can stop it and this news will make it more difficult for him to stand in the way of this bid. Out with the old and in with the new on 31/12/05!
  3. He's behind you Mr Neville! They won't find it hard to put in more than the departing chairman did villaboy. :winkold: I'm glad that this is all out in the open now. Surely our soon to be departed chairman can't stop this now? Out with the old & in with the new on 31/12/05!
  4. I expect Baros to start every game if he signs. JPA on the form of 2 seasons ago would line up alongside him but Phillips on current form does not deserve to make way for him on Saturday. I think given Phillips age he would not have been signed in the expectation of his starting every game and playing the whole 90 minutes and I suspect both him and JPA will get plenty of time on the park over the season, as I hope will Luke. It will also offer some much needed competition up front.
  5. "The Ron Saunders Stand" for me. Without him where would we be? If not how about for the time being "The stand formerly known as the **** ***** Stand" or "The Scottish Stand" as the present name should not be mentioned in the same way as that Scottish play is not? :winkold:
  6. Saunders was the one for me and as a midfield player Platt scored as many as most of our strikers in this period.

    This week?

A big no for me, I also think it will be a no for next month as well. Prove me wrong please...
  8. By this I take it that you are referring to his signing a cheque (if he has his master's OK to do so) for some Swedish insect spray Ryu (something our incapacitated CEO was so reluctant to do). :winkold:
  9. If the shares are trading at £4 and the offer is £45m would he not get nearer £16m at face value? I have gone for £80m + as I think he will ask for a sum that will make any takeover a none runner as it did last time and if it did go ahead any money potential buyers would have that would otherwise have gone to building the squad would end up in his back pocket instead. Prove me wrong Mr Chairman and do the right thing for the club, for your family and for yourself. £24m would not be a bad reward for what you have achieved since 1982 would it?
  10. How about our chairman signing over the club to Ray Ranson?
  11. And I think the phrase might start to sound a bit hollow next season as they could well be joining us again next season and no doubt out spending us in next summer's transfer window as well.
  12. Every chance at the WBA and Manchester United games. :winkold: For us the transfer window is over, still at least we are not Leeds!
  13. Or Ken Weldon? Come to think of it, given what they did to the particular clubs they did it to, then are we not in their debt? :winkold:
  14. Where is the "another chairman" option? Because without one, we won't be getting the other options.
  15. Ellis heard someone other than himself had made a decision!
  16. Ryan Taylor looked a very good right back for Tranmere last night, almost a one man show. As they will be staying where they are (following his penalty miss) Brian Little might be tempted to cash in at the sort of figure we could afford. I wonder whether we have been looking at him?
  17. Have you spotted the Chairman's master plan?
  18. We have lost Hitz already and this is another contract negotiation that has been put on the back burner for way to long. We can't afford to lose another player or what money that is made available this summer will be spent on replacing players that have left our squad rather than on building upon it.
  19. I'm with Eston 21 & AVFC 82 on this one, so is that 3 votes for the badge that used to be on the Trinity?
  20. Is that what I'm using then TRL? I thought it was my radio..
  21. 1957 that really is old. Too young to watch our last FA Cup Final win (although I'm told the pram was placed in front of the TV) but old enough to have been at Rotterdam for the 1982 final and in Anderlecht for the semi. Being old does have those consolations.

    Villa Cult Hero

Andy Gray would have run him close if he had been an option. But, I would have still gone for Brian (walks on water) Little.

    If....

I have gone "no" but possibly those who voted "yes" want him to take a permanent holiday? I hear he's borrowed Robert Maxwell's boat and plans to swim with the fishes on his way down under before playing in the Australian Open. Apparently he is confident of turning over Tiger Tim as well, he's like a son to him you know!
  24. I'm anti-Ellis and used to play centre half, rather than on either wing.
  25. You took the words right out of my mouth - with apologies to Meatloaf.
