  1. General, Is it possible that Nicola Keye and her team could keep us updated on how season ticket sales are going (maybe on the official site) ? It's the subject of a lot of interest to fans, and a great indicator to us of how we're progressing. Obviously I'd understand if you'd rather keep that sort of information in-house, but it would be great to hear that we've broken the 10,000 or 20,000 (or 30,000!) barrier in record time, or that we're miles ahead of last seasons figure. Heck, the seasons nearly over, and with nothing else to focus on I'll just spend the summer wandering aimlessly about bumping into things and drooling otherwise ! Cheers, OBE
  2. Everyone seems to have £20-£25m to spend. Now I know some will be telling porkies, but there are a lot of teams out there with dosh at the moment. Prices could get silly. I think we'll see our record go this summer. In fact I might get a bet on.
  3. Johnson went for £8m on last years TV money. The new deal will push prices up this summer. I reckon Bent would cost £15m, and I've a feeling he'll be going to Tottenham.
  4. Organic cheese burgers ! Crikey. Seems we were in the pub next door, as ever. Nice report for a great day out Mr Bland.
  5. General, I hope you've still got your tin hat. These derbies are lively affairs. You'll love it !
  6. If we aren't going all out for a massive signing I think Viduka would be a very good addition up front, we'd then have four strikers with a bit of everything between them.
  7. I've only seen Barnes in highlights, and he looks a heck of a player. What's his workrate like ?
  8. One thing I do think we lack, that Bellamy brings loads of is a good referee botherer. I see referee's influenced by the actions of players from other sides constantly, whereas refs have an easy ride from the players at Villa Park. Bellamy talks at Referee's non stop.
  9. Apolgies to OF who has pointed out that Stan Lynn was sold for only £15,000. I'd added a nought. Pre-Dougonomics I'm afraid.
  10. Erm....oops? I've seen so little of Sam Williams this year that he's dropped off my radar. To be fair he looked a decent enough player whose biggest asset was his size. With his having missed most of the year, I'm really not sure of his progress.
  11. He's got style like a groovy cat and a car that just won't stop. Scooby has no genitals, I am unsure as to how this affects his superhero status, but it does mean he has nothing to lick.
  12. I don't remember this meeting. Who told you my nickname ? :winkold:
  13. General, A couple of thoughts on JPA; Why not invite NY Red Bulls to Villa Park for a friendly prior to the 2008-2009 season. There's been some talk about having a friendly at Villa Park, it would help with getting the Villa name out to the States, JPA's name would ensure a bumper crowd, and the Red Bulls would get some excellent exposure. Also, is there a possibility of having a book in the club shop until the end of the season, in which supporters can write their goodbye messages to JPA, with the book being presented to him in NY at the end of the year ? Cheers, OBE
  14. Brilliant work all season BOF. Will you update the table if we get knocked down a position or two by the teams with games in hand ? Would we have finished second if Lee Hendrie hadn't missed that last second penalty against Portsmouth ?
  15. I like em young. Is also an anagram of Kylie Minogue.
  16. No replies Hurnairport, If you are the only VT'er going any chance of you doing us a report ? :winkold:
  17. He used to play for QPR. I think Blandy's been having flashbacks.
  18. Great report Pete. The pleasures of the A66 have escaped me I think, I only remember that part of the world as the flat bit before Scotland. After reading that, I'm tempted to believe that all is indeed well with the world.
  19. MON has just been on the radio, and when questioned on away support he mentioned how pleased he was with the Villa support at this one, and in particular how impressed he and the players had been when they drove into the Blackburn through the Villa throng. He said they could barely see a Blackburn fan ! I missed the team coach going passed the Fernhurst. (I'm not sure how!) Well done to those of you that sang at it, it looks like the lads were very happy to see you.
  20. If you want to create atmosphere at Villa Park, surely putting more of the singing into the Holte End isn't going to help. One of the problems with the Villa Park atmosphere (which is by no means bad) is that if you want to sing you go in the Holte, and the Holte is big enough to house just about everyone that does. This leaves the rest of the ground silent. The singing section that Oaks is describing would be a great idea in another part of the ground, it'd give us noise from more than one place, and give the Holte something to compete with. The lower North Stand would be perfect.
  21. Who played behind Andy Johnson at Palace ?
  22. The opposite of hero would be villain, he's by no means a villain. I'm not sure he's a hero either, but he's certainly earned respect. The opposite of flop is success, his goalscoring record is worse than Julian Joachims, and nobody really thinks back to the glories of Julians goalscoring seasons so as a striker I'm not sure he can be considered entirely successful. He's not quite a hero and not quite a flop, but if I was voting in the poll I'd try to click both boxes.
  23. Isn't the French league on one of the terrestrial channels (5?) at stupid o'clock in the morning ?
