  1. Every time I read one of these it makes me wish I'd gone. Cheers Pete great report.
  2. General, on that theme, are there any plans to produce any combined merchandise? Where two football clubs have links, you often see scarves which are half one club and half the other, or hats with one logo on either side.
  3. This was in the Arsenal programme and I think the figure was 25,394 (from memory)
  4. General, Just to add to that, in the lower Doug Ellis there was a girl wearing an Arsenal home shirt, she was only young, (one of these new fangled teen-agers I suspect) and was with a family who were all obviously Villa fans. A steward there politely informed the girl that she needed to put her coat on and do it up and she did just that. No trouble, no rudeness, just very sensibly handled. Well done to him.
  5. General, Good to hear you'll be at the youth game. Fancy a pint?
  6. Roy Aitken in front of the main shed at the sty will be a saddening sight. I always liked the big chap.
  7. There's nowt wrong with that 100 yds Blandy. Cheers for the report, a cracking read as always.
  8. Like a modern day Norwich? Enjoy the match wilson, but I hope we bring three points home.
  9. I think over the last five or ten years Boro have performed above themselves, and that's largely down to Gibson, who seems to me as good a chairman as any club could wish for. He's piled his money in, he's tried to build something that will last and that can grow, he backs his managers and he genuinely cares. It's almost a shame he wasn't born in a bigger town. Villa's chairman throughout much of the same period struggled to make the same impact and we performed well within ourselves. I'll let you check for yourself on what Villa have given to the English game.
  10. I think Mr Sullivan and the current board are keen to blow as much smoke as they can for the remaining four weeks of their tenure, so that they can get their money and do what they've been patently desperate to do for the past two or three years and get as far away from Blues as possible. If this ridiculous speculation keeps noses happy, then it helps them get away more easily, and if anyone asks in a months time, it was that foreign fellas fault. A board that don't want to be there. A manager who has gone. A potential owner who doesn't seem to care. A team headed for the Championship. Karma.
  11. I'm waiting for the first one to tell me that they're a bigger club than us because they almost got Lippi.
  12. Peter Reid has just turned down the Iran job. Surely not even noses would be so stupid as to believe that he club was seriously trying to recruit Lippi. It's seems to me an obvious effort to keep the masses quiet.
  13. General, It's 2010, the World Cup Quarter Final - England vs. USA. Lining up for England, Aston Villa's Gareth Barry, Ashley Young, Scott Carson, Curtis Davies, Gabby Agbonlahor and Nigel Reo Coker. Who do you support?
  14. Sorry to jump in on the Generals behalf. The club runs the Aston Schools league and hosts it on the indoor pitches in the academy building behind the North Stand. They have a number of different age based leagues, and the under 11's league has around 15 schools from within the local area. In addition the club provides training with the kids at their schools on a regular basis (Ben Petty does some of the training sessions) and gives out educational materials. In the past the club have tied this in with their sponsors and given out Nike equipment to the schools, and tickets are also given out on occasions. Prior to the game against Chelsea in the cup a few years back (Angels goal!) some of the kids were allowed to meet with the players prior to the match. As someone with indirect experience of the effect this has on the kids (the missus is a teacher) I can tell you that the battle for hearts and minds is already being won. It's an area that the club already does exceptionally well in, and to its credit doesn't feel the need to shout too loudly about. I've said this before General, but please pass on our thanks to all involved.
  15. General, In the piece on the signage around the ground on the official site, they mentioned that heritage was one of our brand values. What are our other brand values and what do they tell us? Who selected them and how, and how will they be used? OBE
  16. General Krulak discusses bill for Holte damage with Mysteryman
  17. $1000 wedding - Evan Dando (Gram Parsons cover I think)
  18. General, It was me that used the phrase "over exuberance", I would have expected there to have possibly been some spills and even breakages, by the sounds of things it would appear that the damage was substantially worse than that. Given that the damge includes holes in the ceilings, I'm appalled that people would do that and would hope that there is some way that the culprits can be identified, either by the club or by other fans that were present.
  19. We're under the cosh a bit here. Need to let the game settle.
  20. They're having the early possession.
  21. To quote Steve Bruce's mom in the maternity suite. This is going to get ugly.
  22. Bill Howell couldn't make it onto the radio to talk about the Villa, he's having trouble parking his car apparently. I wonder if he's parked it at the Hawthorns?
