  1. I'm just glad I've been able to leave the Grealish thread.
  2. @sidcow^what he said Club have every right to get the payment structured how they feel. He has a 4 years left of a contract. In the end I don't think it will matter. I think the club are doing the right thing. Guy has gone.
  3. Also looking now, I think he has gained around 1k more followers since tweeting last night, a big % increase.
  4. The logic follows that. He knows about PL is some sense (Leeds). He is a twitter ITK (NFL) so to try to gain 'followers' is his thing (he doesn't have that many). He could gain follows be latching onto a big PL transfer saga. He has 50/50 chance of being right. He has gone against the grain (Jack to City) to stand out more. If Jack does go to City he loses nothing, as his audience is NFL. or he could find it amusing as a 'Leeds fan' to see Villa fans hanging on his tweets. or he could have info from someone close to Wes Edens, who also has knowledge of the intentions of City and Spurs regards Kane. I know where my money isn't.
  5. You do realise that the earth does not revolve around JG10? & if it is I am glad the players have a bit a fight in em' about this.
  6. I agree. I am not too dishonest to say 'to spite him'. We should use that negative energy and emotion as fuel. I really like the direction of the club is going. We are going places with or without him. Opposition fans can mock that. However, it was the same fans that mocked us when we spoke of Jack in the Champ, now they are salivating at the prospect of him playing for them and willing to put down 100 million.
  7. Exactly where I am. He is a great player and great if he stays. But I do have a few niggling doubts about him (both professionally & privately). I am intrigued to see what Aston Villa can do with more balance, options and variety.
  8. Bloody hell mate, all the best. Maybe you could lay that bet with a bet on him transferring to City.
  9. What you have written does not relate to what I have posted. I do not doubt that he reported honestly to the information he had. My point was he should have just reported what he reported from his City source and the proviso that he didn't know how Villa would respond and to damn with it. Man City are confident of getting the deal done. Representatives from Grealish are giving them positive signals. Yet to be seen how this will be handled at Villa, clearly they want to keep their captain. My issue becomes when he proceeded to start a back and forth with Villa Twitter, petty remarks about the fanbase being 'a weird cult', sneering at the owners and club, replying to unrelated articles with sarky unprofessional comments relating to the fanbase (these are the only things I've actually noticed). Then he circled back to play a victim. Indulging in it. I do not know the man but he has come across as both unprofessional and attention seeking. Clearly this will be an emotional transfer given everything. Maybe he misread the mood. Percy for instance, reported on it and blocked replies. Sam is in the business of 'football transfers', he sharpens that sword, stokes that fire and walks that line to then cry foul when he is cut does not sit right with me. I would never abuse strangers online and do not condone it. But surely that is the machine that he has oiled. Report and block, do not engage. The cynic in me thinks he doth protest too much and is in fact enjoying the 'traction' and 'trending'. Fine, if that is the case, but be honest with that.
  10. I suppose it isn't really a get out card. It is just a fact. My point was he should have just reported what he reported from his City source and the proviso that he didn't know how Villa would respond. Man City are confident of getting the deal done. Representatives from Grealish are giving them positive signals. Yet to be seen how this will be handled at Villa, clearly they want to keep their captain. Instead he seemed to report with certainty and arrogance. Maybe it is the tribal aspect of Athletic reporting. Each journalist reporting on a specific club. Worse still, he then proceeded to start a back and forth with Villa Twitter, petty remarks about the fanbase being 'a weird cult', sneering at the owners and club, replying to unrelated articles with sarky unprofessional comments relating to the fanbase (these are the only things I've actually noticed). Then he circled back to play a victim. Indulging in it. I do not know the man but he has come across as both unprofessional and attention seeking. I suspect when this whole saga is complete we will have a piece: The emotional toll the Jack Grealish transfer had on Sam Lee: In my words. FWIW, this whole thing, coupled with below par journalism from Evans, has led me to cancel my subscription to the Athletic.
  11. One thing for certain, whatever happens with this saga. Sam Lee needs to reconsider his career choice. As a journalist you surely must remain an impartial onlooker reporting facts, that are known to you, to the best of your ability. Ignore the noise. The man has vested too much emotional energy and stock into a event that he has no control over. His overinflated sense of importance has grown uncontrollably. He has courted and indulged in 'abuse' and now seems to want to play a martyr to a cause. It is a football transfer not the striking of a peace accord between Israel and Palestine. Further to that, you are merely reporting on it. You are not involved in the outcome or the process in anyway.
  12. Has anyone actually watched the interview with Elphick? He is quite balanced. Great cherry picking by Sky for the headline though.
  13. The guy recording today (Josh) said Lange was showing Smith his phone all throughout the sessions today, presumedly messages his says. He reckons that Jack and Lange were talking about transfer updates. Josh will start again tomorrow but he coaches a team in the evening, he is trying to get cover .
  14. Villa Analytics has got a good reading of this on this twitter spaces thing with Ty Bracey.
  15. Me and my brothers are down for this one. Do not make the journey as often as we'd like. Will make a day of it.
  16. Exactly. Smith called it when he said what you want is a competitive top 11/12. Wouldn't even mind a top 6 if it was a little more dynamic.
  17. If injury is true. Got to be done here.
  18. Perhaps the class of the club also has something to do with it. We are not Tottenham. We are not Levy.
  19. Not a good analogy. Jack Dawson ends up leaving the wooden shard, sinking into a cold, lifeless, blue abyss.
