  1. Think he did well against Cheslea, Felt the fans booing at the start of the game was quite frankly disgraceful. You never boo your own. He hasn't been great while he has been here but neither have the rest of them, we do have a tendency to find a scapegoat. It's funny Delph gives the ball away to Remy, he did the same against Liverpool, it's ok Delph we like you. Cleverley gets blasted for passing to his own player. Okore was unlucky with the goal conceded, however i wonder if that was Clark would we be so forgiving?
  2. I don't get that Si, surely all managers try their best? Even the much despised David O'Leary didn't want to lose games. Liking him as a person doesn't really come into it in my opinion, although for what it's worth, I don't think he's got many likeable qualities. The lies he tells put me right off him. Do you like anyone Risso?
  3. Obvious he has walked, would have made sense to put Joe Jordan, Bond and Hoddle in charge but to have Ferdinand in charge speaks volumes.
  4. Two things On cleverley the club struck a deal to sign him if we wanted. If the manager had wanted to sign cleverley on a permanent deal we would have signed him. So IMO you are utterly wrong to suggest they didnt allow him to shell out on that player On Lambert the club bid for him, the club wanted him and the manager wanted him. Lambert (Rickie) was in a difficult position as he wants regular football and he doesnt have too much longer left to get it. He had to balance that against playing for his club, his family and how settled he is. In the end he chose family over career, cant blame him for that. So again you are, IMO, utterly wrong to suggest the club did not allow Paul Lambert to shell out on that player as if Rickie L had decided differently then this morning he would be at Bodymoor training with his new colleagues What you can be critical of, and quite rightly here imo, is the timeliness of the bid and why we waited until Monday afternoon to make it but again that may have depended upon business Liverpool were making or signals from them Or it is when Randy actually gave them the go ahead. On Rickie Lambert, people can sit there and say we would of wasted money but one thing we lack is a leader, just watch the game on Saturday and see it was like the blind leading the blind, no-one getting angry at their performance. Listening to Taylor and Ross, losing 5-0 to Arsenal can happen however to do in the manner we did, at least give them a few bruises for their victory.
  5. I'd bring Vlaar back in, his big game experience will be required in the coming weeks.
  6. The high line against Arsenal was just wrong tactically, I could understand it as they were possibly trying to give them less space to dictate in the middle, but we should have contained them rather than giving them a headstart, especially considering the form they have been on.
  7. I've posted in the relegation thread a couple of times that the squad is too good to go down and that was before the signing of Gil and Sinclair. However I am spouting a load of tripe aren't I as a squad that was too good to go down would not have taken 12 points from the last 19 games and scored 7 goals and conceded 29. I don’t really know how or when under Lambert this will turn around. We had a great opportunity over the Christmas period when we played Sunderland, Palace and Leicester to reignite our season and we took just 2 points. Now we are all clinging to the fact that after Chelsea we have an easier run of fixtures that we should take points from and on paper we most definitely should. Football doesn’t work like that though does it. The more you lose the more confidence is knocked. The more games you go without scoring the more strikers go in to their shell and any chances that do come along are snatched at with no composure shown. The more goals you concede the more nervy your defenders and keeper become. To me this team now looks totally devoid of confidence with no belief in each other or the manager. It needs a massive shot in the arm and for me that can only come from a change in the manager. It needs a new voice and a manager not tarnished and carrying the weight and scars this terrible run has inflicted. I know some will not want to hear it but I heard an interview with one of the Birmingham City players on Saturday. He was asked how they had turned things around with the same group of players that before Rowtlett arrived had really struggled and had just lost 8-0 to Bournemouth. He said that the manager had never mentioned what had gone on before, had never mentioned the 8-0. The slate had been wiped clean. That is what this squad needs now. A clean slate under a new manager with fresh ideas and who can come in and even if it’s only for a short time can provide the spark that can see us safe this season. It is not just about the players either. You can also add in the fact that most supporters don’t believe in Lambert any more. We go a goal down now and you can sense the atmosphere turning and some fans ready to pounce on the managers back. Lambert has said himself the anti-chanting towards him is doing the team no good. That is also taken out of the equation with a change in manager. Realistically I know it is unlikely Lambert will be fired but that doesn’t change the fact it is what is desperately needed. I unlike others though don’t believe he is immune from getting the push and I think a poor result and performance on Saturday followed by us failing to win away at Hull could well be enough either for Lambert to walk or Lerner to sack him. That's where I am mate with it. We look defeated before we even step on the pitch which is a massive concern. It's hearing the same voice, same ideas to try and lift us out of it. Even Delph after the game, just watch his interview, where was the hurt or the pride? You've just been spanked and you act like you couldn't give a s**t. The players have no belief in what he is doing.
  8. What manager doesn't want to do well? Ok, every manager does it was more to say he's trying his best which obviously isn't good enough. But it's more the point of the abuse aimed at him as a person and some sick people targeting girls on Twitter with the same name as his daughter.
  9. I don't mind Lambert as a person, think he really wants to do well but for some reason or another, it just isn't working. You can see he looks beaten, defeated before we even step onto the pitch. Think he hasn't been helped much by Randy as he has effectively left him as a one man band. But this is a results business and he needs to be sacked for it.
  10. Think we will find out information later on this evening when Lambert PC will be after the cut-off for tomorrows press.
  11. Pretty sure he's back in full training. There was some news a little while back about him starting light training. Nope confirmed by Lambert it's light training, running, ballwork with physios. At least 4 to 8 weeks off I'd expect.
  12. He's back training, not full I'd expect just yet.
  13. So? He scored plenty in the Europa league. The league and style of play in the league did not suit Kozak. He was scoring for the national team and in the Europa league. Then he came here and scored more goals than Gabby and Weimann. Kozak is a hardworking forward who causes trouble with his size. Was the top scorer in the Europa League, nice use of the stats though.

  15. I expect it will be. No more loans allowed I think as we will have two already. Can we not loan from abroad? Yes we can, it's only 2 domestic loans.
  16. The bad outweighed the good, if thats true we wouldn't be in the 5th round. Complete guff, a team can win a game with a player playing badly. And your point isn't, you said his bad outweighed the good, did you actually see the ball he played to Hutton? He actually wanted the ball and drives forward, he at least tries to attempt forward passes or would you rather him just pass sideways. It's no coincidence that all of our threat came down that side of the field, with Hutton, Bacuna and Gil. Cleverley or any other of our midfielders could never play or would even attempt that pass he did to Hutton, also played the pass through to Hutton for Weimann headed chance in the first half. Yes i saw the pass, he was imo awful for the rest of the game and thats why i said the bad outweighed the good, that isnt the point, the point here is the response that he must have been good because were through to the 5th round which again is just utter guff. Where did I say he was good? it was as Omariqy says the good outweighed the bad, as it if it didn't we wouldn't be in the 5th round, so don't know how you can call that guff.

  18. Talksport also said we'd done a deal for Robert Huth.

  20. Agree, also think the death of Junior Malanda may be playing on his mind, the Belgian lads seem to be very close to each other.
  21. Clark has took on the responsibility, he likes leading the defence and organising it. Problem with Baker and Okore they need to be organised.
  22. Lambert said: “Will there be any more coming in? The way it’s looking at the moment ‘no.’ “It’s a mixture of everything really. Anything with Scott, is dead. It’s just the way it is at the moment.”
  23. Dave Armitage - who he? Journalist for Daily Star, covers Villa. Quite close to Lambert.

  25. His contract with Valencia didn't expire till summer 2016. I have commented on this thread before as I am an expat Elche season ticket so know this player very will indeed, and don't misunderstand what I might say below because I like him, he has excellent potential. But.... He was surplus to requirements at Valencia, they sold him so they could strengthen their squad in other areas plus they have a similar player to him on loan at Cordoba who, IMV and probably theirs, is better. No way on earth is Carles currently worth more than Villa paid for him. In fact, at this moment he's not worth even that because (again IMHO) you overpaid based on the risk. He's a good, skilfull, classy looking player but even at crisis-hit Elche you won't find many fans who were desperate to keep him. In fact the club's forum has made comparisons all season with his replacement and you would be hard- pressed to find a fan who didn't think his replacement (called Victor Rodriguez) has been better for us. This is not to say he won't make it and be worth a king's ransom in two years, but honestly, as much as I joined this forum to keep tabs on Villa's growing list of our former players (do you need a keeper? You can get Caballero from Man City), you're all getting carried away. Good points made, I don't think many are getting carried away, but he was the type of player we have needed for a while, he was instantly the main man and sometimes players need that a side to grow. Still a long way to go but his debut was certainly promising. As for a keeper, no thanks he was crap when Villa played Malaga in a friendly, he was all over the shop.
