Good on you. Bergen is nothing but rain, dysfunctional politics and Norway’s most famous paedophile
  2. Passively accepting the status quo is an attitude. You’re entitled to it, but I’m not going to do that.
  3. ‘Can’t change it’ is an attitude. And I refuse to be lulled into it.
  4. Well, not with that attitude. But why can’t I love Aston Villa and still hate modern football?
  5. Or, you know, not do any of those things? Football belongs to the people.
  6. Woah, there. You can have one section/stand for ultras (some of whom might occassionally don a mask or balaclava) who chant intimidatingingly (but also with humour and positivity) and have a pyro display or two, while at the same time have the rest of the ground available to kids, families, old folks and everyone else. You don’t think the game is open to kids and women in Scotland, Germany, Scandinavia, Belgium, Holland and so on? Do you really think ultras culture causes nazi salutes and stabbings? I mean, come on.
  7. I honestly don’t care. They’re obviously as valuable as any fan, but making someone sit somewhere else to make room for a singing section is a sacrifice I make every day of the week without even a hint of hesitation. They can enjoy the game just as much from another seat, and a proper atmosphere (which improves the experience for everyone) requires organisation. Not having a designated singing section is absolutely nuts imo.
  8. Neither were my club in Norway and the majority of our fans ten years ago. Things change. I wasn’t much of a fan either, to be honest, and lo and behold now I’m an active ultra.
  9. Threats of violence, on twitter. And even if ultras culture hasn’t been established in England yet, doesn’t mean it can’t be if clubs and fellow fans are open to it. Look to Sweden, Denmark, Norway and Scotland and how far the culture has developed in just the last few years. The imrpovement is incredible.
  10. Brigada were forced out, and Project B6 routinely receive threats. If it’s for you or not is up to you, obviously, but I find it slightly odd to see people praising visiting ultras one minute and then actively resisting ultras culture at home the next. And saying it’s ‘not for us’ is almost a bit arrogant, isn’t it? Like, the English football going public isn’t one homogeneous static size. I also think it’s completely fair to give your more active fans ticketing privileges, but that’s another debate entirely.
  11. Over just the last few weeks, I’ve seen Villa fans praise Hibs fans, Legia fans and Zrinjski fans, many wishing we could get that kind of atmosphere going at VP. Yet whenever people try to introduce anything resembling continental ultras culture to England, they are invariably ridiculed, harassed and threatened by fellow fans. There is little to no understanding of the ultras culture, both among the average fan and certainly among clubs. I do wish Brigada 1874 had been allowed to flourish and grow.
  12. Zrinjski are more or less exclusively Croatian. Ethnic Bosnians in Mostar support Velez.
  13. FC Basel. Never seen anything like it.
  14. Yeah, even for me, this is true. Like, 1998 feels like it’s about ten years ago, not f…ing 25. There are people who themselves are starting to feel too old who weren’t even born when stuff happened that feels like yesterday to me.
  15. I hope, with some confidence, I’ll never have to wear one of those things ever again.
  16. I have no idea if another Scandi VT’er made such claims or not, but f*** it, I’ll just go ahead and claim all of that except the bit about it being frustrating
  17. On holiday, just me and the missus, no problem at all.
  18. Glad to hear you haven’t got a brain tumor, buddy, but that is f***ed up. I hate my ex with a passion, but if the mother of my child potentially had a brain tumor I’d want to know. What would drive her to not even ask you about something so massive?
  19. There is absolutely no way I could live like that, and I don’t say that to be disrespectful.
