  1. I think one thing that could put peoples mind at ease is Villa talked to 12 other manufacturers as well as Macron and they won. They were also still considering staying with Nike.. Yes the deal Macron delivered was probably a good one, but Villa aren't going to allow their image to be tarnished by a cheap looking kit.. Yes they have made some odd decisions in the past and some of the Diadora kits were a bit off, but Macron obviously impressed them and that has to be a good thing.
  2. I get the reason for protesting.. I don't agree with the protest and anyone that takes part is a bit of a nob really, though I have one question. WHY THE **** ARE THEY CHOOSING TO DO IT AT THE MAN CITY GAME OF ALL GAMES!!?! I know it's on Sky, but the players need all the support they can get going up against a team that could very easily smash us by 8 or 9 goals.
  3. Looks like we dodged a bullet getting out from Nike when we did.. Who knows what they would have done to us if they create kits like that for clubs they actually care about.
  4. 2-7 loss.. We'll miraculously go 2-0 up within 20 minutes think the game is won as always and they'll score 7 in reply. It saddens me how easy my predication could happen as well..
  5. its a lot better than paying for your shirts to be made. Its a bit embarassing people moaning about style of jersey maybe we should have asked Armani or Dolce adn Gabbana to make them When did we ever pay for our shirts to be made? We never have well not in the era of kit sponsors anyway. We may have had to to fund the manufacture of our kits pre-1970, but I think what Zatman was saying is other clubs such as Crystal Palace have to pay companies like Nike to make their kit for them.. We are fortunate to still be in a situation where manufacturers are still willing to pay us for the luxury of making the kit.
  6. Yes Ireland has the responsibility to track back and he did, he tried to stop the cross but he's not a true defender it was Hutton's job and he was no where to be found. Did Hutton get shouted at? No, yet Ireland did for actually trying to do something.
  7. Since 1995 we've had Reebok, Diadora, Hummel and Nike.. Some of the kits were good and some were awful. Personally Macron have the same chance of making a good kit than any of those named possibly an even greater chance as they will work closer with us than some of those brands.
  8. £150 million yes which is why they moved.
  9. I think about Macron in this way.. At one point Nike, Adidas, Reebok they were all no name upstarts that would have had the same reaction as Macron are getting now. The simple fact is brands have to start somewhere and we should be privileged that they have chosen to work with us.. In 5-10 years Macron could easily be one of the biggest and most respected sportswear manufacturers in the World, but we could easily **** that up for them by not buying their shirts and expanding the brand.. Macron could be great for us and they could be a kit sponsor for decades just like Adidas are for Liverpool.
  10. To be honest I don't give a shit who makes our kit.. If a miracle happens and we start winning games and are up near the big boys again we could be wearing a bin bag with Aston Villa Are Great scribbled on it in gold pen and I wouldn't care as we'd be winning games..
  11. I'm just glad we don't have Houllier right now.. I know N'Zogbia shouldn't have said what he did and Ireland probably shouldn't have reacted like he did to McLeish, but with such a thin squad Houllier would have relegated both players to the reserves for the rest of the season.. Luckily McLeish isn't that petty and both will probably play against Man City.
  12. Ah makes a bit more sense.. Still have an odd sense of pride that he did actually tell McLeish to **** off. I know it's not professional but I admire a player that will say exactly what is on his mind no matter what.
  13. I doubt it was for the swearing.. McLeish has been asking for his players to be less nice so I'd say Ireland telling McLeish to **** off would get him an A for effort in McLeish's books.
  14. Bent so far has proven that his words this week are nothing but lip service.. He was talking about wanting to be the next Shearer and to score 100 goals for us and to be the number 9 we'll never forget.. So far he's been flat footed, not all that interested and when we do make chances he's always a yard or two off the pace. Shit play so far from Bent..
  15. I have a feeling we may be able to get Keane to agree to a loan extension until the end of the season.
  16. This is a repeat of the QPR game but without the own goal.. Sure the scorer at half-time is different but it's all playing out the same. Started the game a bit tense had a few good chances went behind to a goal that shouldn't have happened and then from about the 40th minute the game has been nothing but Villa.. If the second half is anything like the QPR game we could win this quite comfortably.
  17. Villa were great tonight we played well. The decider was the man we shall name Warnock.. He is pretty much the decider in every single game we don't win. If I was Warnock right now I'd be finding a ditch to die in as he's seriously a waste of space.. The rest of the team were great they didn't do a whole lot wrong..
  18. I just hope that if Wenger does field a weakened XI that our players don't take that as meaning that it'll be easy as their second choice players are still good enough to beat us on their day..
  19. I always have this hope deep down he'll be amazing but there is always a part of me hoping he's just average but good enough for Villa so no one takes him from us. I know for a fact if he breaks into the first team fully next season and has a great season he'll be playing for Liverpool or Man City in 2014 without fail.
  20. If a club comes in with an offer would you only accept it if it was £25 million  No.. £18 million would probably be as low as I'd go. There would hopefully be some negotiation in the matter though.
  21. It would cost over £25 million to replace him???? Most £25 million players wouldn’t have been crap for a whole; you pay that much because you know you get consistency as well as brilliance. Ireland didn't perform for us because he didn't want to be here. The transfer was forced on him. Yes that isn't a great excuse but hell we've seen players like Torres and Carroll play worse for about just as long and they chose to move.. Ireland is finally starting to come good and given we paid £18 million rising to £24 million on Bent who isn't amazing right now. I'd say Ireland is a £25 million player and if not now, will be if he keeps these performances up.. Ireland is a match winner, he's just got an uphill struggle in a side that seem motivated to concede as many goals as they can..
  22. I hate that he's fielding the strongest possible side.. Makes a loss even more embarrassing at least if we fielded youngsters we'd have an excuse. Not saying I expect us to lose far from it, I actually want a comfortable win but this is Villa after all. We can go from spanking Chelsea round Stamford Bridge to losing against Bristol Rovers with ease.
  23. Any chance the only reason we put the feelers out for players is to get the false praise.. I mean most of what he said was bullshit but it makes me feel better about this club right now. He was so convincing I almost believed the part where he used Villa and Great in the same sentence.
  24. Suffice to say if Ireland gets into another chance like that again I want him to be selfish and take it himself. He didn't need to play Bent on and in the end didn't even get much of a thank you.
