  1. I was about to say "do we really need another striker?" then thought about the possibility that Heskey won't be here, Delfouneso probably won't be here, Agbonlahor is a winger now and Bent might not be here and that leaves Weimann on his own.. I'd go for this guy if Bent was **** off. PS. My reason for wanting this guy is simple.. I just want a striker with a proper foreign sounding name. Most of the best teams in the world have one it's a good omen.
  2. He's played Right Back for the reserves at times and one of his first matches in the first team was at Right Back, he even got Man of the Match if I recall, but since then McLeish has played him as a Defensive Midfielder.
  3. Calling him Beckham is far more sensible than some of the things Darren Fletcher and Gerard Houllier said.. Darren Fletcher likened him to Xavi, Iniesta and Scholes while Gerard Houllier said when talking about Bannan.. "Xavi, Iniesta, Messi, Pedro. You can watch and wonder if they are playing in the youth team sometimes.".. In comparison to that comparing him to Beckham is sensible..
  4. Year by year manufacturers change their kits designs, change the materials they use, they change a lot.. It also depends what the club want. Macron being a smaller company can work with the club more directly. If the club want a shiny kit they get a shiny kit, if they want a more matte kit they get one.. I mean for every Macron kit like Leeds there is a Macron kit like Napoli. Macron are not like Nike as clubs actually have a say and aren't just given a template of what they are going for this year and they choose the colours which I am sure is what happens at Nike, we will probably get a very good kit from Macron.
  5. I think we need to start playing a heavily youth inspired squad now.. They understand each other as they play pretty much week in week out in the reserves, they are friends and a team with a team mentality like that can do a lot of damage. Man United of the 90's springs to mind they all came out of the reserves at about the same time and set the league on fire.. There was no adjusting or getting used to other players abilities as they knew them long before they hit the first team.
  6. I think he'll be first choice come next season.. Him with Herd in the middle. N'Zogbia on the right a new purchase on the left with Weimann and Bent up top. There will not be two up front if AM is manager. If they can prove it works then things can easily change.. I know AM gets a lot of stick but if he see's something working in training he's not going to ignore it.
  7. When I saw him doing that it really reminded me of a young Wayne Rooney. He wasn't just playing the typical poacher role or the typical target man role or the deep lying forward role he was playing all them at the same time.. If he plays like that every game, if that is his style then just like Rooney he'll be very hard to keep track off for defenders, we just need our midfield to be smart enough to keep track of him.
  8. I think he'll be first choice come next season.. Him with Herd in the middle. N'Zogbia on the right a new purchase on the left with Weimann and Bent up top.
  9. I saw him shouting at Gabby.. Gabby didn't look too impressed he looked like a child that wasn't sure what he'd done wrong. Ireland was right to shout though Gabby was useless out there today.
  10. He played well enough that when he was substituted McLeish got boo's although those boo's quickly turned to cheers and claps of appreciation for Zoggy. He seemed annoyed at being taken off though that changed when he saw it was Weimann and not Heskey he was coming off for, had it been Heskey we'd probably have a dead manager right now.
  11. **** Weimann!! We've all said it and when he gets more than 3 minutes on the pitch he scores!! Get in!!!!
  12. I feel sorry for Weimann he's expected to score to keep his place in the side and yet he's playing with a bunch of idiots for the most part.. Ireland is the only one that is looking likely to play him on to something good.
  13. So has Gabby, Albrighton, Herd, Petrov.. It's ok to waste posession if you are actively trying to do something with it. Petrov has been more wasteful with his distance shots to artificially inflate stats than anyone on that pitch.
  14. Are you **** kidding? Are you blind? Gabby has been shit all game.. Albrighton has been shit all game.. N'Zogbia with Ireland were the only ones doing a thing all game and one gets subbed, I am happy Weimann is on but it should have been for Gabby or Albrighton.
  15. On a positive Weimann has already done more in 30 seconds than Gabby all game..
  16. Well done Ireland shout at Gabby he needs to know how he's playing is unacceptable..
  17. We're hoofing it a bit more so far this half.. I want to see more of the one touch slick passing from the first half. We looked quality..
  18. At times we were playing like the side had been watching Athletic Bilbao we were stunning.. We just lack anyone that can score. Gabby is pathetic, Albrighton is average.. If it wasn't for N'Zogbia and Ireland we wouldn't have even had 11 shots and 7 corners in that half they were bossing the whole game.. Bring Weimann on he'll show Gabby what a real striker should do.
  19. If I was the manager I would add an hour on to daily training where the squad do nothing but watch Barcelona matches.. I'd also ask the players to emulate the clubs best players. Something needs to be done to eliminate the anti-football we play and it has to be done at a psychological level. Today Lichaj said he was studying Hutton to become a better player.. He should just study Daniel Alves.
  20. Gabby needs to stop doing what the higher ups tell him to.. He's a well loved player and a fan favourite regardless of how he's playing. I would hate for some of the more hardcore McLeish haters to turn on Gabby because to them he's supporting the enemy.. I don't expect it to happen but the way some of the fanbase is behaving it's a concern that it might.
  21. Bookies have him as favourite to be the next Villa manager, not that the bookies are ITK or anything. Oh please let the bookies be right and let it be very soon! Ex Liverpool manager Rafa 'the spanish waiter'Benitez?I thought their was a clear hatred for any previous managers who had managed Liverpool? I think all rules are out the window now.. Yeah there was a strong disapproval to an ex Liverpool manager, but little did we know we would get an ex Birmingham City manager instead. I think had we known Alex McLeish was a realistic chance we'd have welcomed Steve McLaren.. So yeah I think now Rafa Benitez is a perfect choice in comparison to what we have.
  22. I think we'll either win 3-1 or get completely stuffed.. I say we'll win as I'm getting tired of thinking we'll just draw. I'd rather think in absolutes at either end of the spectrum and not play it safe.
  23. Surely though it's better to get a guy in free and then pay wages than have to pay £6 million for him and then pay wages? If we are offloading players there is room for him he'd just take up the wage packet of Delfouneso or someone else when they go. I understand Olic may be a risk, but it's a rather cheap risk in the grand scheme of things..
