  1. I think Arsenal will give em a drubbing, I also think we may get a draw.
  2. I think we may see players going out before we start signing people as this may define which people actually come in. the window is open for a while and we will probably here news next week.
  3. Hairyhands i can say that I believe you, the fact is that the club has already said that the club has its hands tied for this season until the wages are reduced so you are only stating what has been said, things may change though if we manage to get rid of certain players in the window speeding up the wage reduction issue.
  4. My main issue is that he learns from his mistakes, he has had ago at getting success and we are paying the penalty for it now, we tried to do it too quick but at the time it was the right thing and could of worked, we all know the next issues with other clubs so we all know why it failed, He has stated the club must be self sustaining and he is keeping to it, to be honest we all want him too splash out and bring us success again but this is not going to happen, there are enough models around to show us that spending big does not always work - QPR West Ham, also we are not privy to all the rules and regs that may or not happen and for all we know he may be putting us in a good position, The problem with being a fan is we do not know all the facts and can only speculate, these speculations get discussed and in some eyes become the answer, we must ask ourselves the question- does RL and PL want to fail, obviously not so we must put our faith in them to get it right as hard at it is at the moment, for all we know in 2 years time things may be alot different and we may be praising them for their actions. Like DB9 none of us know the truth but are way to quick to lambast PL, He must have a good reason to do what he has as otherwise he would play him, he aint stupid. We have to keep the faith and trust in the club, at least till the end of the season and see what happens when the wages have been reduced enough.
  5. I dont think it is not caring or having any fight that is the problem I think it is having no confidence or belief, The last 3 results have been a serious blow to the team, 1 minute they are up after the Liverpool game and the run they were on the next totally humiliated at Chelsea, then when nervously trying to put it right against Spuds they were taken apart again, with so little time between games there is no chance for the staff to help them, You could sense the nerves against Wigan and I do believe if the first goal had not gone in we would have improved as Wigan did after they scored the goal, I do worry that the Swansea game is coming round to quick to put things right and think yet again we may be battered.
  6. It is obvious we need a spine, 3 or 4 tough players who can run a game, having inexperienced players is fine as long as they go into an established team with an established style that can bring them on and cover any mistakes they make. PL is doing what we wanted him to do but he is doing it way too quickly. I do believe he is following the clubs plan of removing and replacing the top players with cheaper replacements, In truth Bent aside there are not any experienced high earning players at this club who you could say could come in and change things, they are experienced but very average players so they do need to go. I hope the plan was to survive this season getting rid of the dross then moving on next year when they have gone and we have the tv money, PL may actually be doing a great job to a plan but unless the brass say so we will never know, this is the reason I am reluctant to critisize PL. The injuries we now have has totally wrecked the plan and has got PL worried, Hopefully the meeting is for PL to say that unless he starts to bring in these better players now the plan will fail as the young players need help.
  7. To be fair if we just woke up and did not remember the last 3 games, looking at the league table isn't that scary as its pretty tight down there,
  8. At least Newcastle got a good hiding as well.
  9. I do not think its fair to say the young players dont give a shit, this is not the case, I think they are inexperienced and do not know which way to turn, We go behind and they have a go, this leaves us exposed to the counter attack as per the last 3 games, they simply do not know what to do to turn it round and probably think they are way out of their depth, they desperately need a leader to help and guide them and to organize them on the pitch,n yes the manager can give a team talk and give them a plan before the game and at half time but when it goes to shit they simply look lost and bereft of ideas, you only had to look at there faces when the second went in to see the problem.
  10. Well known Radio station in Yam Yam land, he was being interviewed by Pat Murphy.
  11. The philosophy of playing lower league players is flawed, yes eventually they will gel and with guidance and coaching improve, they will play better as a team as there are no superstars. the problem lies in these teams generally come up through the leagues learning there trade, we have placed them straight into the firing line of the Premier League. we have not had the time to bond and learn as a unit. if we can miss relegation this year then the future may be bright, hell of a gamble though.
  12. Makes perfect sense, less wages equals more profit, You only have to look at the last 3 years to see all the best players being sold and youth players being progressed ( Bent being the exception although this I believe was a panic buy and something to stop the hate that was directed at RL) At the end of this year how many top players will be left? even Bent is now being humiliated and pushed out. I may be wrong but have a strong suspicion that I am not.
  13. On WM, Asked if he will bring in new experienced recruits in the window he said he will get players from the lower leagues as this is the way the club wants to go. We are doomed. I have had faith in RL in the past and believed he had the clubs interest at heart but now believe it is time for him to go. PL can be forgiven if this is indeed the clubs orders and not his choice, I also find the formations and team selection bizarre and wonder if being this close to the transfer window has any bearing on it.
  14. It is not going to happen, PL has just stated any new recruits will come from the lower leagues as this is the funding he has been given. Sorry but RL has got to go he is killing the club.
  15. It is plain to see it is the midfield at fault, two many times they lost the ball and stood looking for a decision off the ref instead of playing to the whistle, the defense just lobbed the ball hoping benteke gets on the end of it, headless chickens spring to mind, Yes the confidence is low and they are demoralized, this does not though excuse the lack of movement and effort, 2 many times the player had the ball and no player made themselves available, Utter utter shambles, even as a devout Villa fan I have to say they deserve to go down, At the moment I am ashamed to be a Villa Fan, I thought things could not get worse after last season but by god trust the villa to prove me wrong. I do not mind loosing as that is football but it is the nature of the last 3 defeats that concern me, even Benteke from being a star has now turned into a clown who can not pass a bloody ball 15 feet,
  16. You are right, although I wont read too much into the Spuds game as that was a hangover from the Chelsea game, as i said before I am glad it was only the 4 we lost by as it could have been alot worse. confidence is shot and the manager had no time due to holidays and the time between games to do anything about it, hopefully he will improve things for the week end. The last two games may help us actually as Wigan will try and come at us and attack hoping the confidence is bad, they are not Chelsea or Spuds though and may just get punished for this, I hope this is the case as we need a good win to boost the players.
  17. If nothing else i would like PL to bring a big man into the centre of midfield, an evil git whose only remit is to be a spoiler, we have players who can pass the ball and look good but spend there time running round like headless chickens being knocked off the ball and made to look useless. we want a bully, someone to run the show and protect the rest of the midfield. a Vinny Jones type player
  18. I really hope you are right, what ever happens though its got to be better than the first half of this season.
  19. Oh the devil and the deep blue sea, In fairness we should have shut up shop against Chelsea, but as for the gung ho style - against certain teams it should be this way, Remember last season AM tried the defensive play and was hammered on here for it.
  20. We were just as shit 2 years ago, we have always done well in the first half of as season then gone down hill, what makes me laugh though is that we call for players to be dropped and they are, when we get in trouble we call for them to come back as they will improve the team, what we dont see is how they are on the training pitch and what their attitudes are like, any manager worth his salt would pick players who have been dropped again if he believed they would improve the team.
  21. Whilst I agree with this the players may be ok for a year but then again we have the job of getting rid of them when we dont need them and the extra wages this incurs. If you read the forum back we all wanted a manager to come in, get rid of the deadwood, look at the quality in lower divisions like other clubs do, get young foreign players in like other clubs do, pick players on form and not have favourites, Seems to me PL is doing all of the above but it shows it is not as easy as we all think, Good job its PL with the head ache of getting it right. Also it looks like RL actually listens to us as he seems to be doing what the fans cried out for.
  22. If PL panics and buys so called experience players for the sake of it then we will move backwards and the last 2 years will have been for nothing. We have to buy the right players when they are available. PL knows who he wants and when he can get them, if he doesn't then he might as well go now.
  23. Confidence is what is missing, as i said in the PL thread, loosing the way we did to Chelsea and the time before the Spuds match was a killer, If you were Spuds would you play normally against us or throw caution to the wind and go for it knowing if you scored then our heads would drop again, we must take things in context and look to the next game and give the players backing trying to build up there confidence, If we beat Wigan then the last 2 matches will be forgotten.
  24. At the moment it is bloody embarassing being a villa fan, the last 2 results have been totally out of order. yes I believed we would loose both games but not to the extent that we did and the way we played. To be honest after the Chelsea game it was always on the cards we would get battered against Spuds as PL simply had no time with the players to work with them, all he could offer them was words of encouragement, Because of the way we lost to Chelsea spuds were always going to hit us hard as they knew the confidence was shot and it was only a matter of time before the floodgates opened, I am just glad it was only 4. As for PL being clueless on the bench, tell me who the hell else was there to bring on and improve things, the real test will be on Saturday against Wigan, this will define if we move on or go down, We have to look at the league to see that it is very tight, Man c loosing, Man u struggling against Newcastle, any team at any given time can get a result, Even the bin dippers with all the money they have spent and the so called experienced players are only 7 points above us, PL has a hell of a job to do and he will need time to do it and money, it is pretty obvious why players have been isolated, they are being forced out the door as they are on 2 much money and not wanted. getting rid of them is part of the remit PL had when joining same as it was for AM. When they have gone then we may see better players coming in but until then we will have to stick with youth, shit but a fact. Lets not have ago at PL for this as it is a requirement of the club to survive, we have known this for a couple of years yet still believe it will be different. We just have to survive this season before we can move on. I may be wrong thinking this but I really want to believe it as if I am wrong then the club is really screwed.
  25. The midfield is where the problems are, we are just not strong or experienced enough, nearly every pass goes astray and no one can put his foot on the ball and look for a pass.
